Like how do I go to a Bethesda RPG after playing Witcher 3 brehs. With the mediocre writing, characters with zero personality, no sense of involvement in the world. Big mistake to play the Witcher expansion this close to Fallout 4.

I touched on this elsewhere but I definitely feel like the odd man taste wise whenever people decide to list their top tens. I've always gotten the rap as the Bandcamp guy or guy that only likes an artist who maintains a certain level of obscurity. However, I've never found that to be accurate otherwise I wouldn't still be in love with TPAB or feel as though DS2 and now 56 Nights were pretty good albums. When I look at people's lists I feel as though there's a bigger bias with the average poster or just with hip hop listeners in general.

Of course exposure plays a big role in sort of inflating this bias, but in general people seem more more apt to give a hyped release repeat listens and second chances even if their initial assessment is largely negative. That's the conclusion I come to when I see lists containing major artist's third and fourth best albums taking up high spots in what is supposedly a strong year in rap.

If I'm being honest sometimes it is a bit discouraging for me to realize that I'm pretty much the only hyped to check out the breakthrough album by an up and coming, emerging artist. Maybe the rate in which I consume music makes me less complacent with what I see as a lesser effort by a previous favorite artist. I never tire of searching for the next big thing or finding that under dog artist who might not ever break but deserves the spotlight. People clown like it's a knock able trait, but the hunger I have for finding novel sounds doesn't seem like something in which I should be the lone ambassador. A few people seem like they're really going to check out shit that gets posted or finds it's way into rapup, but largely even the scant positive impressions and feedback the lower scale albums get never manifests into people's favorite album list in comparison to the big hyped releases.

I'm not really trying to whine just divulging how I see things. It's like why post shit, might as well wait for the Goldlinks of the world to get Drake cosigns so then you can talk about them.

This applies accurately to myself. I've forced myself to listen through Summertime 06 and DS2 more times than I would have naturally, simply because people keep saying they love those albums. If it's something less discussed, I usually won't give it more than one listen if I don't immediately like it.

stormy settin a personal record for not being banned this month yet tho

As long as we all agree Witcher 3 is GOTY.

ain't get around to it yet but riding for Bloodborne outchea so far
prolly not gonna touch fallout 4 till next year's big ol steam sale on the GOTY or whenever too

y'all remember B4.DA.$$??????

?????

?

Of course, who wouldn't remember one of the best albums of this year.

Not that I don't trust you, but 343 has a lot to prove with that game. I'm waiting for the post-honeymoon impressions. All the footage since the beta has looked good though.

Not excited for Halo 5 at all. I don't think 343 gets what Halo is about. It just looks so generic all around. The armor looks terrible, lack of game modes compared to the previous versions, lacks that iconic Halo soundtrack. Also having ADS is just awful and cringe worthy.

Witcher 3 GOTY
BLOPS3 guaranteed close contender though

This BLOPS3 thing you've been pushing is kinda weird tbh. That said, I did enjoy the beta, but nothing about it screamed GOTY.

Help me understand.

When I said "looked good" I mostly meant the game flow in Team Slayer. I agree that their art and music doesn't compare to Bungie's work on Halo.

Dark Souls 2 on ps4 is the only game I've played all the way through this year. Outside of the occasional lazy day or night I just don't have the desire to game much these days. Maybe in winter though.

Have you played it? The beta was better than 4 in every single way imaginable. Better maps, there was actual power weapon control, actual rankings, none of that ordnance shit, no shitty loadouts, character movement was improved, etc. AFAIK halo 5 has pretty much the exact same game modes + the new ones (some will be released like a month after, like BTB). As for ADS, not really that significant imo (unless it's something like the smg). your FOV gets reduced and you get descoped when you get hit while being zoomed in.

Why didn't Rock just stick to the sound he had with Strange? He did that way better than whatever 90059 ended up being. Follow Me Home is underrated.

how'd DS2 find you snuggles? Im gonna plat bloodborne & then grab that one down the road but i was trying to adjust my expectations since it's not A team and all

The sound is still there in 90059, even in the one's he tried something else he would still change it again in half of the track.

Got it when it was on sale. You can see the b-team thing sometimes. The art, bosses, and level connectivity is weaker than ds1, and the first several hours are rough due to the enemies being way more aggressive. But otherwise it's still classic Souls. I ended up playing it over 100 hours which does not happen to me these days.

Meant to quote IN's post.

First I want to say I appreciate the shit you bring to our attention. It doesn't go unnoticed.

Ultimately I think music is sort of like news consumption. Sure you might add a new political channel or website to your favorites but most people stick to shit they're most familiar with. Everyone finds a corner and learns everything about it. In our case there are certain artists that everyone pays attention to. Everyone has favorites, or is a fan/Stan of someone, etc. So it's not surprising that the big releases dominate our conscious. Or the niche releases many of us fuck with like Yen Lo. It's always gonna be like that. I think consensus and the decision to give something new a shit is often driven by how many OG posters consign it. If I see you, Toku, and Esch cosign something I'm gonna cop it. Whereas sometimes if I see you and Toku cosign something I might wonder if it's a wave I can't ride.

My list is gonna have Billy Woods and some other surprises.

I don't think Esch generally fucks with my wave whatsoever anymore. I feel like we used to be in sync but he's slightly more conservative and I've become more liberal in my rap tastes. I'm on the fringe of la Soulja Nostra and he's on the fringe of the dust heads.

I'm gonna have to come up with my top 10.

But so far as it stands my AOTY is Barter 6.

I've never even heard of Yen Lo. I see it in most of y'alls Top 10 so I downloaded it and will listen to it later today.

As for Game of the Year...Super Mario Maker.

This Yen Lo is Earl's level of sleep inducing material, it's not the kind of song I can appreciate.

On the other hand I loved the 2 first Pilot Talk, as the third one isn't on Spotify I will only be able to listen to it at night, but I'm expecting another excellent album.

Tried fucking with Ka before as well as the Yen Lo album.

For such a lyrically dense artist I have a really hard time understanding anything he says. I hate having to go to tap genius for every song so I guess it's not for me. Like the atmosphere though.

What the fuck is happening with 56 Nights on Spotify? I swear since I downloaded it, it was removed at least 3 times but it always returned after a few days.
