Slime Season 2 is a really fun listen. Enjoying it more than SS1, which was also good, but hearing a bunch of SS1 long before it actually came out made it feel stale.

You guys are tripping about the 2nd half of SS2

After a few listens, I'd say there are 12 standouts and the best tracks come in that stretch towards the end. Bold are great, red are Check / Just Might Be / Best Friend tier

Don't Know
Hey, I
All Over
Twerk It
Mind Right
Go Crazy
Flaws
Oh Lord
Beast
Never Made Love
Raw (Might Just)
No No No

I agree with enzo that a lot of stuff on the tape isn't as memorable as Young Thug's best work in 2015 which hurts the tracks I didn't list. The melodies aren't as strong, the song structures aren't as interesting, the verses aren't as off the wall. Like I said before, I think Slime Season 1 has more and higher highs.

Like, why. Nobody thought that was a bad idea?

Semi-EDIT: LOL, nevermind. He says "tight like a kick".

Based thugger and future pushed the mainstream sound to exciting new spots.

SS1 has higher highs. Stunning, Power, Calling Your Name and Draw Down are some of the best tracks he ever released. There are some not so great tracks here though, like Quarterback, Rrari and Overdosin.

SS2 has so many standouts it's not even funny, while there are no tracks on the level of SS1 highs, the album holds itself well enough. The only one I didn't find it was good was Beast.

Barter 6 is just the perfect album, all the tracks are great and it's cohesive. No wonder his biggest hits are all there, you can feel it was made with care (it's his only studio album but it was set to be released as a mixtape before he changed his mind and the album's name). It's better than anything Future released this year and it makes me sad that he isn't as successful.

Yeah I don't know about the Fashawn man, you seem chill though, if you ever want a personalized list of recs from this year I could probably help you out. Otherwise I'm still doing the rapups for some reason, links are in the OP, and although he's a senile fuck ThaBiz is always listening to some new cool shit mostly.

Thanks for the offer man, but I may have expressed myself in the wrong way. I know all releases more or less - I follow all the blogs - I just didn't have time to listen to 90% of them. So there is a playlist with hundreds of songs just waiting for me. I'm just now getting to the Cannibal OX album, for example.

Also, I just remembered, I also enjoyed wav. Theory by Towkio.

I love the flow Thug uses on the second half of Mind Right. I love the tape after a couple of listens and if its like SS1 was for me it will only continue to grow on me.

I love that Thugger's flow seems to get even more insane with every new project. He is ridiculous on SS2, love it.

I forget if I've already said it here but Bay Area hiphop is like a treasure trove of music. So many unique styles putting the listener up on West Coast "game" with "mob" influenced songs and songs with crossover appeal that don't at all sound contrived or corny.

Catching up on all these classics I missed and I see why they're called such.

Weezy shouldn't be tainting the name of one of the last great mixtapes he put out

What are some of the jawns you been listening to? I've been feeling the same way this year, listening to Spice 1, Luniz, Too $hort, E-40, and Del

No Ceilings was played EVERYWHERE when it came out. It defines a specific time in my life. Watch My Shoes was my favorite track, flow is bonkers

Halloween havoc but he's being a bitch on Twitter right now, talking about holding it off because people don't seem excited enough. Doe Pesci is barely on production anyway.

wait, somebody named a project after a WCW pay-per-view? I might need to hear it

3XKrazy's Sick-O EP and the Stackin Chips album. I've been stuck on those for damn near a week. Haven't listened to the Luniz albums in so long, I've almost forgotten them so those are next and i'm gonna mix some Dru Down in with that.

And I'm kind of ashamed to say it, but while I've listened to practically every E-40 album, I've never heard any of The Click albums and only peeped B-Legit's Hemp Museum like once so those are definitely on deck.

Timbo did a song with Migos recently. That tells you what you need to know about how Timbo feels about stuff in 2015.

Always felt Messy Marv was a little underrated as far as Bay Area artists go dude had a lot of projects I enjoyed during the early 00's. When I lived in the bay I listened to a lot of E-40, Keak Da Sneak, San Quinn, Messy Marv, Mac Dre.

I feel like yelawolf is having an identity crises. He has no idea who he is or who he wants to be. His image is all over the place. That country boy staring off into the sunset on gran pappys ol' front porch used to rap about partying all the time with gucci and putting bodies in his trunk. How am I supposed to vibe with someones music and feel it when I'm not even sure they really feel it themselves?

doubling down on that confederate flag shit really helped him no doubt

on a semi related note, Redman is one of the most underrated producers ever. I always though that Erick Sermon did all of the beats, but I was shocked when I learned that a lot of the beats were done by Redman himself (at least starting from the 2nd album)

yeah, i was always wondering about this too - e dub is way more known for it than reggie though

I wouldn't say all the way up there but he's definitely got undeniable classics to his name and is definitely a legend.

EPMD should be mandatory listening and his solo albums fair well enough.

was revisiting chilltown, new york the other day...not his best shit but still enjoyable

Redman is the shit. I like it when people remember how great he was.

Top 5 rapper for me.

no doubt - had Dare iz a Darksdie on last weekend, that was his intro for me, still love it. doc's da name 2000 stays underrated as well.

So Thugga isn't a paedophile?

nah, just the victim of one
