I forget if I've already said it here but Bay Area hiphop is like a treasure trove of music. So many unique styles putting the listener up on West Coast "game" with "mob" influenced songs and songs with crossover appeal that don't at all sound contrived or corny.

Catching up on all these classics I missed and I see why they're called such.
Got some essential links?

When it comes to the Bay Area I mostly listened to stuff from Zion I, Grouch & Eligh to E-40. Everything from boom-bap to hyphy. Around 2006, I think, there was a small Hyphy trend for a few months. I remember playing Mista F.A.B. - Ghost Ride It at parties with my homies back in the days.

One of my all-time faves and which I in the recent months suddenly started listening to more and more again:
The Grouch & Eligh - No More Greener Grasses

Zion I's first 3 albums were dope as hell, too:

18 months ago I thought trap was dead and was honestly bored of it

Based thugger and future pushed the mainstream sound to exciting new spots.

trap music has many fruitful years ahead of it just based on the quick turnover of prominent artist. never doubt it.

I always loved the Hieroglyphics crew growing up. Both the group albums and the smaller projects from within the group (especially Del)

Hieroglyphics - You Never Knew

Hieroglyphics - Oakland Blackouts

Del Tha Funky Homosapien - Corner Story

Souls of Mischief - 93 til Infinity

Souls of Mischief - Step to My Girl

Pep Love - Pacific Heights

SS2 is pretty great. A lot better than 1 imo, maybe even better than Barter 6
the perfect album
.

Does anyone know if the song with Quan is an old leak or something new? I still really want Tha Tour Part 2.

^ Downloading that shit. Black Skinhead is either tied with or just slightly behind New Slaves as my favorite track off Yeezus. Rmx might push it ahead.

Definitely. A lot of that stuf always staid fairly local I guess, which is why all these amazing albums aren't on any lists, but once you find them it's amazing.

Slime Season > Barter 6 > Slime Season 2

All 3 are great, but I didnt get the initial impact that I had from Slime 1/Barter 6. Not sure how long Slime 2 will be on the replay either.
