Budden takes himself way too fucking seriously. It's annoying. At least someone like Royce spends half his time being goofy and having fun. Royce is clearly enjoying himself when he raps. While Budden sounds like he's going to cut himself, go cry in the shower, and write a journal entry to himself while wearing a bathrobe and drinking a glass of chardonnay.

I'm sorry, but if you're coming to Joe Budden looking for music that you can just turn your mind off to, and focus on "gettin' money." Well, then you're not coming to the right guy. Me, on the other hand, I love it. He's not a "depressed about my girl, but I still have money" guy like Drake. He's gone through real things, had real problems, and I appreciate that. Besides, Mood Muzik 2 brought me back to Hip Hop.
Royce hasn't been interesting in years. Just my opinion, though.

Difference of opinion, but Budden is probably my favorite (I didn't say greatest) rapper ever. There's enough happy ass "Get money" rappers in Hip Hop. Respect is due, though, as Budden practically pioneered using the Internet as a means of furthering his career.

Joe hasn't been on his game since Mood Music 2 / 3. 2 is almost a classic tape to me. I could take the depressing shit, if it was as good as the stuff he was putting out before. It's not though.
He might as well be, "depressed about my girl, but I still have money" guy like Drake. He just dresses up the role better with more metaphors. Half of the issues he's been rapping about have been because he keeps spending money on / fucking with these random women. :/

LOL. Probably what killed it for me the most.
Been listening to it non stop. Went walking down to pike place from capital hill today, listening to it the whole way. Got played twice on my 5 hour drive to Boston. Between it and the poppy3 mix I've had all my music needs satisfied. Plus I've been going back to the WCW mixes that I haven't heard in a while.
Speaking of which, we need a new a WCW mix, it's been too long.
And at some point you should do a "greatest of" WCW mix. Just the very very best westcoast tracks, the 10/10 songs. Could do the same with ignorant and poppy.

We talk about Bun B's decline alot down here. Bun B is not where he was before. He is married with stepkids and step grandkids. He teaches class at a college, has a sports radio show and has an opinion segment on a local TV station. So yeah, he is older, not hungry, successful and seemingly cares more about fashion than anything else. IMO, he isn't concentrating on his craft as much because of his current life and he doesn't have Pimp C there to push him either. Bun will never be who he used to be. He just isn't that dude anymore.
I'll agree that he isn't as good as he was with 2/3. However, it's hard for someone to stay that good for that long. I still loved Padded Room and Mood Muzik 4, even if they're not as good as his old work.
You're right about Royce, though. It's amazing how far he fell off. He was always one dimensional, but damn, it really is just gun/dick metaphors now.
So basically his life is awesome now and he's comfortable
