I posted a sort of bait I guess and I'm sorry but, I have never considered lupe to be original at all. I see him as manufactured hip-hop since kick push. I guess he loaned his skateboard to lil wayne. I also think part of the whole skateboard thing is to appeal to a wider white audience which isn't right because they are not seeing you for you. All of these acts now are phony as shit.

I've been actually checking out Quik lately. I know I'm late since yall talk about him every now and then, but just got book of david and safe and sound a week ago. Safe and sound aged incredibly well, pretty damn good. Book of david kind of threw me off, not in the sense that it was bad, just some of the sounds he uses in his beat are somethings I've never heard before. Pretty impressive he was able to drop a good album after all these years.

I remember not long after F&L dropped he had an interview where they asked him about his Carerra Lu name. He started talking about gangsters in the hood and the fact he used to drive Porsches and wear a Rolex on each wrist before he was famous. He started going on about always being in the hood and how he was always a known name in the hood, getting money and shit.
That made me see through him even then.

Oh my, I dont see how anyone can call Lupe boring. Even when hes doing his bullshit LASERS raps, he isnt boring, just hilariously bad. Current Wu-Tang is boring(minus Ghost, who is God.). Lupe's first two albums were critical favorites, and fan favorites. I guess LASERS is like Spiderman 3 to some people, taints the whole discography.

But I must be the balance. I see no Lupe stans. F&L/The Cool are great albums. Not for everyone, but not every classic is. Not quite Illmatic/Ready to Die/Liquid Swords level, but they are still great.
I vaguely remember him talking about his past. He originally did more gangster oriented music. But people grow up and mature. That gangsta lifestyle isnt sustainable. It is also stupid as shit if you have a way out. Also, Kick Push was his only real venture into that sub-culture. Even Kick Push II was just a story about two kids.

I think the realism is part of why I've listened to Clipse so much.
Hearing Malice and Pusha talking, there's an undeniable authenticity to what they're describing. You can almost feel it, it goes beyond the music.
Same thing makes CREAM a classic record. You know they lived that shit, and that's what gives it its strength.

No, Hopsins Label is one degree away from ICP. Tech N9ne can actually spit, and his crew has talent. World Wide Choppers was one of the best songs from last year.

I only heard that "Sag My Pants" track and that verse he did on Tech N9ne's "Am I a Psycho" so I wouldn't say I was a die-hard fan but I didn't hear any major problems with the lyrics and style. So I assume he's just got a lame ass gimmick with the whole attitude and contact lenses?
