Ready To Die = classic
Liquid Swords = classic
The Cool = not a classic
Would people here seriously call The Cool a classic?
It's not on the level of the other two in any way whatsoever.
So what does that make those? Classic-ier?
Are they A* classics whilst The Cool is a B+ classic?
In what definition of classic does The Cool share space with 36 Chambers, The Chronic, Straight Outta Compton, etc?
I struggle to see the definitions people are upholding when you can claim The Cool as a classic record of the hip-hop genre, I really do.
I'm a fan of both of Lupe's real albums and think The Cool is very good but it's no classic.
I don't even know the definition of classic anymore whilst in here.
The Cool, as a concept album is a terrible failure with a boring narrative filled with filler and an unsatisfying conclusion. As a standard album it's meandering, overlong and hugely unfocused.
F&L might possibly be a classic. 7 years old already and it holds up extremely well and still sounds as good today as when it was released.
The Cool was and always will be a good to very good album whilst also being an overambitious failure.
I wish yall could hear Jeezy do Juicy. He actually rapped every word and didn't 'pass the mic to the crowd' once. You can tell he really tried to rip it and did.
It was all a dream /JeezyVoice

holla at me when anyone who rocked cassettes checks in with something to say
nobody wants to hear shit from yall old ass eating tapioca pudding listening to your cassette tapes. shit its 2012 son.
Yawn....
Listened to tapes not equal to listening to tapes
I think there are two different versions of a "classic" album.
The first is the version that is meant for the albums that are must listen to, universally acclaimed/praised and/or albums that changed the game. (Your ATLiens, E.1999 Eternal, Illmatic, 36 Chambers go here.)
The only difference for the second version is the lack of being universally acclaimed/praised. An album might be 5 mics to someone and at the same time be 3 mics to someone else.
For me The Cool is a 5 mic album and should be considered a classic but I know it won't.
no clue what you said but stop it, it's fucking with my high

section.80. Nothing else.oh shit, man down! ace, you cold as ice man.
like a angry, crippled man, don't push me
oh for sure, like how i say we try to establish a top 10 MC's but everyone's got their own votes that many wouldn't agree with.
like, everything about Blackout! screams classic to me - its gotta be past 10 years old, but still bumps for parties, gym shit etc like it's brand new for me.
i think we asked this, but - what 2011 albums do ya'll think are/will be considered classics?

Also, ATTN Toku and Shinobi- you guys should enter this production contest:
http://www.2dopeboyz.com/2012/03/10/a-2dope-contest-rashad-x-confidence-the-city-remix-contest/
It wants a boom bap remix of the acapella, and you guys are fucking sick at that kind of beatmaking. Im gonna give it a go too, but you guys are leagues ahead of me when it comes to purely sample based beats. Shit, maybe even use one of the heaters from 2pretty4porno.
The Cool is a 6/10 album. I can't believe this is even a serious discussion.
For comparison F&L would be like an 8.5 and Lasers would be a 1.
most albums would be classic if you cut 1/3 of the songs though.
This motherfucker right here. :lolnobody wants to hear shit from yall old ass eating tapioca pudding listening to your cassette tapes. shit its 2012 son. New School runs shit.

The Cool > Graduation
the fuck?
cause taking potshots at old heads is a no-no, especially if you're being a turd about it.Wait, why did Tguy get banned?
And for me, not saying generally accepted but rather me personally, Return of 4eva, Oneirology and Section.80 are all three classics. WTT i played a ton, but it's a lot harder to go back to because the songs are so hit and miss.

It's amazing how many classic records in different genres this man produced. Don't be fooled by the countdown gimmick, this is a really well written article.
