ASAP's verse is boring the first like, ten times you hear the song. But then you realize how hard he goes, mostly because of his flow and adlibs. He kinda just sets the stage for the song too by going in and giving his contribution.

Tell My ASAP killas get the pistols ready
Send them to the cemetery with obituaries
Don't be scared nigga, is you ready?
I've been thinkin bout
All the 0's in my back account (WHAT!)
X the hoes in my bed is round the same amount (WHAT!)
...
I know one thaaaaang
Anything is better than that 1 Train!

Super memorable lyrics.

I'd say Kendrick's memorable lines boil to to "doo doot" and "mm mm", but it is a good verse and much better than his Fuckin Problems verse.

Joey Badass went in with his opening line and the signing to the roc/assigned to the rocks line.

Yela did pretty good, he isn't that bad, people are bugging because he's Yelawolf. The part where he goes "RADIOACTIVE GOINS GOLD, AND SO, GREAT?" is highly memorable. That entire half of the verse is great and the Tupac verse.

But then Danny... steals the show. I'm not a southern rap guy so Krit doesn't do it for me. Danny kills it line after line. We needed a Q-Brown-ASAP tour song way more than a Club Paradise song.

Bronson does his usual schtick but the line "the moon's reflection off the lake hit me, you should've stayed with me, now many asian bitches lay with me" is one of his best lines ever though. I love that side of Bronson when he has a line that is just super ridiculous.

And Krit does his thing, he went in. I can't deny it. He just isn't my favorite. But jesus this was the hardest verse on the entire thing.

At first, ASAP seems the worst, but he holds his own. I'd say this is as close as we could possibly get to an all star posse cut in 2013 that isn't commercial and forced. A bunch of talented dudes going in, all of them being at least a A- tier lyricist besides ASAP who holds his own in his own way.

And the beat is one of the best beats I've ever heard most of these dudes on...

Danny > KRIT = ASAP (one is technically better, the other has more charisma IMO) > Kendrick > Bronson > Joey > Yela (but he did his thing)

What I REALLY want is the remix, with ASAP, Q, Ab-Soul, Flatbush Zombies, and Bodega BAMZ. *faints at the thought and spazzes all over the floor*

Bitch pussy smell like a penguin
Wouldn't hit that shit with my worst enemy's penis
Bitch when I say this I mean this: "Ho, I'm the meanest"
Dick so big, stretch from Earth to Venus
That molly got me nauseous, on shit, no off switch

I lose my shit at that, when Danny goes a bit harder on that last line there. Fuck.

Gambino is at his most interesting on songs like Unnecessary, which is his best song. He's playing the rapper ironically but so well that you can listen however you want and enjoy it. It's worst when he is playing the rapper nonironically and you just feel awkward, or he is dealing with being a white boy on the inside and you have to sit through that song for the millionth time, inbetween him talking about how much he loves asian girls.

Danny Brown's best verse this year was, IMO, Flight Confirmation. His delivery was amazing and content wise was about in line for him, but his delivery was great.

He made Q sound so bad and lazy, and Q would've stole this from anyone else. Completely underrated song.

1 Train was fucking awesome, and so surprising because it bought people from all around together. I mean, he could've just gone with his NY guys, but he got dudes from the West, South, Midwest as well as the NY dudes. Same reason I fucked with Worldwide Choppers.

This is basically what 1 Train would've been like with Gambino..

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DyX4I-8lbSc

He's too much of a joke... he would've ruined it. And I say this kinda liking him a little.

ASAP killed this and surprisingly won, lyrically. I mean I know he wasn't up against stiff competition but still it was pretty crazy how hard he came. He has some classic Dipset swag in this.

Yeah, the label really went out of their way to kick him to the curb as hard as possible. Can't really blame them as he's been talking about Cash Money for a minute

he should at least have...Fabolous' level of relevancy today. i mean, he is the realest since Kumbaya. who else can say that?

Dipset fucked themselves over so hard.

What'd dip set do to fuck themselves? They had a stacked team and some of the hardest beats ever... But where they all at ?

a whooooooooole lot of infighting.

cam, juelz and jim jones were quite the 3 headed dragon and they blew it. then wayne cribbed their swag and became a rap megastar.

Cam is top 20 all time. At least.

Jesus Piece didn't deserve to sell one copy. Chalking it up to Kanye stans who thought there was an actual verse on the album.

New Nas? Yeah, you can imagine it in your head and actually listen to it now.

EDIT: oh yeah, whole reason I hit Post Reply.... The Joey Badass verse on 1Train is the best thing I've heard from dude. He actually infused a little personal character into the 90s throwback style. Would like an entire mixtape of that version of dude.

I still think he had the best line of the song.
"Ain't never been no rapper this cold since 2Pac was froze
And thawed out for spot date at a Coachella show, Yelawolf"

Huh, turned out they all fucked themselves over in the end. They could have had the music money machine printing shit faster than they could spend it.
Can't forget about his CoC days, his bars were even more unique back then

Cam is still a legend who neared relevancy in 2010 until promises of a Dipset reunion fucked him up.

He had Vado and he was making his lil comeback, because EVERY rapper loves Cam and wants him, yet no one gets him (except Mac Miller lol).

He still has an incredible ear for talent (AraabMuzik and Vado who is a beyond competent NY punchline rapper).

Problem was, the promise of quicker money in a Dipset reunion was too much for him to turn away and Juelz has his fuckin problems (and they aren't bad bitches), and he fucked up the whole thing, so rather than just dwindle in irrelevancy, Cam does the SMART thing, he vanishes.

Before ASAP and Q, I was (and still am) one of the biggest Cam stans in the world, dead ass. Before he was tumblr famous, before pink was a joke, before all the white kids, I kept it hood. Cam is in my top 2 ever with Ghostface, and who is number 1 is just a matter of how I feel that day.

Cam & Vado Ft Kid Cudi & Alchemist - Ya Killin Me
This was my jam of 2010. I think I subjected my ex this song more than anything else ever. This fucking beat. Vado with his punchlines. Classic Cam. And the best chorus Cudi has ever done. This is one of the hardest songs of 2010.

Dipset & AraabMuzik - Salute
Before EDM took over mainstream, before dubstep was even something any rapper knew about, Cam had the entire Dipset come back and rap over a crazy fucking Araabmuzik beat. Before Araab had any cred as anything besides a Hip Hop producer. This should've been even bigger than it was. It goes harder than anything else Dipset has done, ever, and I mean that 100%. It goes harder than the above song. My ex heard this song even more (it was the first song on my Dipset mix CD that was in my car for all of 2010 and beyond).

Cam & Vado - Always Made It
Cam - Whistle
Who the fuck else raps over the Tetris theme and makes it sound like heroin and the color black?
Cam & Vado - NFL Intro
And then does the same thing with the NFL theme, making it sound like the beginning of the goddamn Godfather?

Even this summer, lacing us with Jim Jones ft Cam & Wayne - 60 Rackz. Cam sounds like a goddamn legend on this song. He sounds more infamous than any other rapper.

Let's not forget him clowning Jay and Ye during the shortlived hype of a Dipset comeback, Toast, which at the time was exciting. Now we look back on it as a facepalming moment for King Jaffe Joe, but it's still a really good remix of Runaway. Dipset are the kings of remixes. They made Grindin their own when EVERYONE was doing it.

Cam also owned Popular Demand by Clipse. He tamed the beat and delivered classic Cam swag. Cam over a Pharrell beat is as good as it sounds.

I tried to post songs that were the last 4 years or so... way past when ya'll would say Cam "fell off". But the dude is the highest in demand for features, higher than anyone else, and denies everyone. Dude is illustrious. He is a damn general. Making secret tour guap and is too deep in the business, and can always get on ANY Cash Money joint he wants. His relevancy is a matter of when he wants it and when he wants money. No other rapper can command shit like that. He is the god.

PS. they recorded the first single off the new Dipset album, "Have You Ever Made Love to a Diplomat" ft Cam, Jones, and Wayne. They recorded with Dr Dre and are probably putting their next album out on Interscope. They're waiting for Juelz to get his shit together, and he seemingly has (this dude is a problem, literally and rapper-figuratively).

Cam is the best, ya'll are tripping.

Cam on Children of the Corn goes hard but there are five chapters to Cam and they are all good.

Chapter 1: Children of the Corn/Big L
Chapter 2: Fire/SDE Era
Chapter 3: Come Home With Me/Birth of Diplomats
Chapter 4: Vado/UN (Cut short because Cam saw $)
Chapter 5: The Return of Diplomats

We're still in Chapter 5... I'll give the god his time. He's never disappointed.

PS, Biscuits & Bangers is the best Children of the Corn song. This chorus is the most gully thing that the 90's produced.

cam was nice on that ONIFC track. probably his biggest profile song in a while.
jim jones had some good spots the past few years too.

yeah he was bad on coke and for no good reason is too involved in hood antics, he surrounds himself with idiots

cam was also on that nicki minaj song with rick ross, cam knows who to associate with, he's a smart fucking dude. and yeah, same with jim jones, but jimmy does give out verses much easier. they're really smart dudes. it's a shame juelz ended up being a complete asshole because he honestly changed rap forever at, what, 19?

i liked that Bada$$ 1train verse but it was shamefully cribbed out the Black Moon playbook

I'll take it where I can get it.

EDIT:

Side note, Juelz just got knocked no more than two years ago for selling dime bags of commercial weed. Hard times man.

lol what? Does he have to get shot 13 times or slang dope for you to consider him a rapper and not just playing a character? Not being snarky, but I find that argument ridiculous.

Gambino's charm comes from him being ironic and ridiculous. As soon as the line is blurred and he becomes a generic gangster rapper, he is boring. Similarly, his old stuff is boring because white kids rapping about their problems is its own over saturated subgenre of rap.

You're in a battle you can't win, my friend.

People like Drake, Wale and J.Cole and they all went to name brand colleges on scholarships.

Gambino is wack because he steals Lil Wayne's (shitty) cadence and projects his own self hatred onto the rap community at large in most of his verses.

Yeah Gambino.... just check how horribly the nerdy black kid thing killed Pharrell.

Dude is a clown. He could be using his articulation skills and good breath techniques to make some decently listenable stuff, but that Wayne flow and horrible lyrical content make it impossible to listen to.

I'm sorry to do this to you, but to let you in on it, he was joking.

The entire time.

It was all a big joke.

Because he's a joke rapper.
I could understand calling him a joke rapper back when culdesac dropped, everything was punchline driven. But saying that after camp and royalty makes me think you're biased and/or haven't listened to his new music.

Dude you are just not in on the joke. You're like a wrestling fan who hasn't realized it's not real.

GAF doesn't even want Gambino near it.

He's about as serious a rapper as Dirt Nasty or Speakz or even Riff Raff (whose history I don't know, but the dude just seems like a big joke). Even Action Bronson fits this. The difference is Gambino is boring and tries TOO hard, and for most of these guys, they turn into caricatures of their characters, and it isn't awkward like it is increasingly becoming with Gambino with his inability to distinguish what kind of rapper he wants to be.

The dude has fucking Tina Fey close out his mixtape. Come on dude. "Gully"? If Cam had Tina Fey close his tape and then he fucked her that would be one thing, but you know they went out after and shared some strip steak on her dime, and after calling his mom, walked her home.

I can't believe you just compared Gambino to Riff Raff. No offense, but I think your assessment is incredibly off base. I'll just be the weirdo in Gaf-hop that loves CG.

Juelz claims he has cleaned up and will stop bullshitting around this year but eh I guess we will see on the 15th. I remember being really excited when Just Blaze was going to produce his 3rd album

nope. but he could do better than bland imitations of what popular rappers sound like. he comes off as very studied.
