After first listen, Pusha shows much more range than he has on either Fear of God. He continues to prove he has an amazing ear for beats, the production is on point all the way through with the Harry Fraud joint probably being the weakest of them all, but still not that bad. Early favourites are the Intro and Revolution. I actually believe Pusha could craft a listenable album after listening to this.

I listened to 2 of the 11 songs before it came out though, so I guess it kinda sucks overall.

Wrath of Caine isn't doing anything for me. Most of the beats feel phoned in, and the ones that don't--Road Runner, Only You can Tell It, Take My Life--feel like they're wasted on Pusha.

Tape felt like an appetizer to me. It's pretty good, but damn it left me wanting me way more. I guess that's the point, just hope we get the album soon.

Definitely feel this way too. I mean it was good and good enough, but you get the feeling Pusha is holding the real fire back.

Pusha stays being the B- rapper. Good enough to look out for, not great enough to stay excited about, not mediocre enough to get special ed props and not shitty enough to call himself a swag rapper.

Good shit, but I'll forget everything I just heard in about 3 days though. Eh.

Detroit Vs. Wrath of Caine.

Detroit got a couple playthroughs from me. Not bad. If anything it's a tape that actually got me on Big Sean. But he could probably drop another mixtape and I wouldn't even know. I'm not the biggest fan of dude.

So far I'm liking WoC more.

Wrath of Caine is really good guys. It definitely has a flow overall from track to track. The rhymes and beats are hot and Pusha kept true to himself spittin about ... selling cocaine throughout the album.

Even the Ab-Liva track is better than about 90% of crew tracks. So I give it a 9.

Which is funny because that was the norm around the early 2000's and I'm sure no one gave a fuck. But I guess rappers didn't become as successful as Mac Miller did with that song.

I dunno. Shit sucks regardless and a further hurdle rappers needs to go over to put out music, even if it is free to the public.

Actually wasn't quite the norm

Most use short samples to get a sound they want but Mac took the entire beat

yeah was talking to a DJ buddy about this recently, shit was bad enough with clearances beforehand too

Fo sure

I don't really see how Kevin Gates is anything like Chief Keef. I don't hear it in any of his newer joints or any of his older ones. I just wanted to make that clear as Keef's ability can be contentious lol. But agreed on the merits of Weight and i'm looking forward to Luca Brasi Story also.

Harry Fraud beats aren't bad, they're just the textbook definition of unexceptional. None of them shits are memorable from what I've heard, except for Bird On A Wire, but even that not really.

wonder what the stuff pusha worked on w/ future & kanye sounds like. i will say i can see him as a viable solo artist now.

also i'm wondering what the french & future tape sounds like. listened back to the french & flocka tape and it was pretty fresh.

Not sure if you're being serious

Give the guy a break, even Dre had a couple medioce beats, though I must admit his drums never got that whack.

Never been big on him because most of his famous beats are super sampled

And his original beats suck

WoC was cool. Didn't blow my mind but I enjoyed it. Not gonna get a ton of PT after this, though. Hoping he saved the real fire for the album.

I think Jake-One and Illmind are hella under appreciated...Wrath of Caine turned out better than expected, but I had low expectations.
