I'm not sure Control helped Sean at all, in fact it perhaps killed the little buzz he had. Everyone was talking about Kendrick's verse, to the point it might as well be his song featuring Jay Electronica.

Been saying for awhile that Sean doesn't have a true fanbase, he's entirely hit based - the problem is that he doesn't have hits. Even Ass wasn't enough to sell his first album. I don't know what it is, dude was featured on some huge records last year. Maybe he doesn't tour enough to foster a true fanbase, maybe women aren't really checking for him. Maybe he's just a feature killer - someone who shines on other people's shit but can't make it on his own due to poor songwriting/decisions.

Is the college dropout really a classic album?

Back when it came out and for several years after I would have answered yes. But after listening to it again recently after having not heard it for a long time, it has some big holes in it where certain songs didn't hold up like family business. And Jesus Walks was always awful bullshit. Still a great album, but not a classic. It's in a tier with very few other albums though.

Finally playing Mass Effect 3. I didn't bother because of all the bitching about the ending but I figured fuck it, it's about time to finish this trilogy.

I always thought his problem is he isn't distinctive in any way. He's like pop rapper model A. His voice, his style, his beat selection, none of it makes him stand out in any way and other dudes do all those things better than him. Big Ghost calls him medium sean instead of lil sean for a reason. At least if he was just straight up bad, that would make him stand out. Bad can get you as much attention as good. Look at lil b. But he's just...there....putting average lyrics over average beats with an average amount of skill and average amount of charisma. And like Esch said before, his target demographic is nobody. He looks like he should be marketed towards the boyfriends of the white girls who buy nicki minaaj and drake albums. But they would rather listen to wayne.

That was my favorite also.

Watching Birdman, Puffy and Juve at the Tunnel now, it's funny how Birdman lied about the age of his artists lol
If Wayne was 16 at the time, the video takes place in 98 (I'm guessing it's true since Juve went triple plat with 400 Degreez or whatever), but then he says Juvenile is 18, but dude is seven years older than Weezy. I think he also mentions how he's 24, which is also a lie since he should be about 29.

EDIT: First he said Wayne was 16, then Wayne comes in and says he's 14 lol, no way.

This is all true, especially on the voice point. The dude has no presence at all. At the same time, he isn't witty/charismatic enough to be the type of dude who can talk low and be smooth about it although he probably thinks he is that type of dude. I respect the hustle but I honestly don't know how he got to the point he's at.

Stay Trippy still hasn't gotten old. I'll probably still be bumping this for 6 months straight. It's just good driving music. That and ESGN. Scholarship, Money A Do It, Wax, One Thousand......basically everything is great but the butchered version of Bands A Make Her Dance.

Tried to give Hall of Fame a listen. Skipped around a few tracks and just couldn't be bothered anymore to listen to it. Same with Goodie Mobb's new effort. This Google Music AA has saved me from buying a lot of boring albums thank Cheesus.

Trap Lord still hasn't sunk in for me as a whole. Work and Shabba are cool though.

Unconscious State is great. I'm suprised Jon Connor has good production for once. Last time I listened to one of his albums I fell asleep and hit my head on the edge of my laptop.

Oh man, don't even listen to Crooked I's Apex Predator. It's a tub of shit. I swear it has worse production than a Hopsin album. It's like he paid some schoolkids to fart on a popsicle for 45 minutes straight.

I agree with enzo, on 'Stay Trippy.' Outside of "Money A Do It" and "Gun Plus a Mask," it really isn't doing anything for me. I'm growing tired of generic drug rap over sterile trap beats. Maybe I'm just over drug rap in general.

With that being said, I enjoyed those two songs more than the entirety of 'Hall of Fame.'

SOUTHFIELD (WWJ/AP) - A local McDonald’s restaurant was forced to close after its employees walked out and hundreds gathered outside to protest for higher wages.

The restaurant on 8 Mile and Lahser roads along the Detroit/Southfield city line was just one location locally where fast food workers are participating in a nationwide “walkout for better wages.”

so cold in the D

So I've missed the past 60ish pages and 2 weeks. Can somebody please clue me in on what's up? What must I listen to? I think a lot's been dropping lol

Also, I got tickets to Action/Danny!!

Nice! I'll definitely check it out.

How does the process go? Do you just email beats and hope for a response? Do you get paid for mixtape stuff?

Depends on the artist. With WTK (Willie the kid) we work together personally. We crafted all three tracks at my studio. I did a track feat. Styles P & WTK and I've only talked to Styles through email/twitter, the game is so much different these days. A lot of artist/producer combos has never met!

Read the last 5 pages for some funny Kendrick jokes.

-Hall of Fame came out and it was good, if a bit goofy/mediocre in spots
-Stay Trippy crushed the buildings
-ASAP Ferg released an album that was better than Rocky's
-Kendrick's verse on Control was the first time i've seen the mainstream talk about a hip hop verse in years
-Everyone is still really mad at me about liking MCHG

Edit: Also I'll have you guys know that I'm playing through the MGS series for the first time so I've been playing the first one on PS3 network and it's awesome. Love the stealth elements and boss fights.

You're in for a treat with 2 and 3. Especially 3. I like 4 but most don't.

I just heard Stay Trippy. GOD DAMN!!!

The last minute of Money A Do It is that grimey 3-6 shit. Should have had a couple more joints like that

Damn this shit was enjoyable

YEAH HO

Fuck lil Sean's verse though

My favourite from Stay Trippy is Scholarship. Such nice production.

I wonder what Juicy J would sound like over some Clams Casino.

Scholarship is one of my favorite tracks. Dr. Luke did a good on production with that one.

I will be bumping this in rotation for awhile.

I heard DJ Paul is jealous. He tweeted some crazy tweets not to long ago. This isn't good.

the kerfuffle over ME3 ending was entirely overblown, all three games were great,

Nah, the hate was justified. The ending was bad bad bad bad.

But I'm also of the opinion that the game had way more issues than just the ending, and the outrage over the last 30 minutes has totally overshadowed the fact that Mass Effect 2 and 3 lost the spirit of Mass Effect 1, and became 2 simply okay entries into the series while devolving into pure fanservice nonsense. ME1 was mysterious, and epic, and isolated, and moody, and had an adventurous feeling to it. ME2 & 3 were Gears of War in space with increasingly bad villains, outfits, characters, and sense of exploration.

this is really stupid, badly edited.

I REALLY hate this hollywood Transformers overcontrasted film grain. awful.

I actually thought the video looked good, but what they did to the song is terrible.

Mass Effect 1 had a great atmosphere, music (vangelis light) and story, but everything else about it was terrible. Bad, blotchy graphics even on PC, terrible combat, inventory system that makes no sense, bad/monotonous loot, the worst vehicle segments i have ever played in a game (seriously, worst).... ME2 had better combat and grafx, more interesting environments and side stories, better weapon and armor design in that they gave you a sense of progression AND variety. The only bad thing is planet scanning. I don't really care that its more of a TPS, it plays and feels better and more satisfying. Still havent played three though. I came across the ending accidentally and said whats the point.

i hate that filter man. It makes scenes too damn dark. I hate that it's in the Battlefield games too, scust.

Though I think it definitely loses the feel of exploration, that was inevitable so long as you had a sequel that had to adhere to a storyline. It's hard to recreate say, going to Noveria again, but I always felt like ME3 was what they wanted the mechanics of ME to be in the first place, they just weren't as refined back then. The combat was leagues ahead of it's predecessors and a lot of the purported "exploration" in ME1 was boring, scrounging through desolate plots of land for a briefcase or Geth Building 01 #49353. ME1 just sort of sucked for combat and they were just spinning their wheels when it came to stuff like gun customization, etc.

And yeah anyone who thinks the backlash for ME3's ending wasn't justified deserves a fiery residence in the afterlife.

I think the best thing going forward would be to get rid of an overarching story across multiple games and just make every Mass Effect it's own adventure. I just watched Star Trek Into Darkness and it gave me a lot of feels of I want from a next gen ME.

EDIT: Esch knows what's up. Seriously if you go back to ME1 now it's borderline unplayable, no hyperbole either. I don't know how I was so enamoured with it at that time. Dat new-gen hype.
