I don't think you can equate all of that with slurs except for how women are talked about in a lot of rap music.
With rap there is often a story telling element (I felt stupid as hell typing that here, but w/e), so I don't even think 'fag' should be outright dropped. But for some reason not using slurs makes some people think we're gonna go all out and make everything a disney soundtrack.
In Rap God for instance " You fags think it's a game" is pretty different than "Fabolous made Ray J mad Cause Fab said he looked like a fag at Mayweathers pad"
It's a complicated issue, I'm not say it's not.

No question, there is always the stance that you can say its all from a storytelling perspective, but most of it is straight glorification. Occasionally there will be the early Biggie or Mobb Deep, or the guys making money off violence like Jay will write a "D'Evils", but at the end of the day the vast, vast vast majority of it is reveling in violent illegal fuckery of all sorts which to me is way way worse than some dude using the word 'fag' in a shit talking sense (if only because that's directly promoting crime) but both are not kosher or should be encouraged. Just saying if we're gonna clear up rap, bad language is like last in line IMO.
You guys have all the good ones, racist dudes just put more time and effort into slurs for black people, hahaha. That's probably why calling me a sand ****** was the go to, or confusing me with an arab in some way.

The difference being what rappers say is usually reflective of their beliefs instead of what a character believes, like in movies. So someone saying they'll bound and torture someone isn't really harmful in the sense that saying that doesn't do a whole lot, whereas shooting slurs out is itself the problem.
