You think they are going to like them?????

I used to love Rakim, but his stuff has aged really poorly for me. Same with Biggie, actually. And this is coming from someone who didn't start with the indie/alt/hipster stuff. I would assume it would be worse for people who did. idk maybe its just this anti-rappity rap phase I'm going through. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I do think Wu-Tang will have a lot of fans though. They are exciting.

I don't even know if they'll like stuff like Divine Styler.

Who is they?

how many people in the world comprise the group of people who give a shit about Danny Brown / Death Grips etc? Can you even say it's 250k people out there? I don't think you understand that the 1990 to about 2005 is the 'Classic' era of rap. It will continue to get burn. Forget dudes like Biggie/Wu Tang/Rakim, who people across the world know by name. Even minor guys from that era can rack up solid dough touring the EU, Japan, and US.

the p4k/indie scene you love so much is built on sticks; it'll have even less longevity than the backpacker shit of the 00s.

"They" being people who are just starting to get into hip hop because of Brown/DG. I'm not saying there are a lot of them, I'm not saying the PF/Indie scene is better than the classics, I'm not saying that its going to change things. I was just pointing out that I don't think those dudes are going to like that stuff. Based on lots of post I see on here and other boards. I'm not sure why you thought I was trying to be an ass.

I thought you were just trolling (it was funny) but IME hipsters love throwback shit from the 90s and 80s. IIRC P4k gave the Liquid Swords release I have a 10 or something like that. It's the commercial shit in the 00s they dont care for.

I don't know. It's pretty damn easy to separate rap music from the 90's, early 00's, mid-late 00's and current. I can appreciate the huge differences. Just depends on my mood.

No different from switching genres of music I'm listening to.

Damn, you fooled me.
I kinda started with Wu-Tang and Eminem and then worked my way back. I can see how you get that though cuz thats pretty much all I listen to now.

The production grows so much with every year it seems.

Jhene aiko ft kendrick lamar - stay here

It's off her new EP. it sounds fucking dope and it's only a snippet. It's happening.

Yess

I'd give up a year of my life just to cuddle with Jhene Aiko. I don't even want to fuck, I just want to lay in bed and move my fingers through her hair and and rub her shoulders in a "it's gonna be ok, you're gonna blow up big time I just know it" way.

Like I said before in a plug.

I'd give every dollar I earn from now on just to be with Jhene Waifu

GZA - lables (unkown remix)

Also 20 years old:

November 9, 1993 was a damned good day in hip hop.

Midnight Marauders and 36 Chambers are both in my Top 5 all time favorites.

20 Years Old Today.

sup brehs. just got home from a cruise that departed from South Carolina. the whole cruise had a southern feel, from the people to the music. I was trippin balls when I was looking through the karaoke song list one night and saw these. thought it was pretty awesome. wasn't drunk enough to do any of em though, otherwise I would've posted a video. next time.

if you see me in a fight with a bear, don't help me fool, help the bear!
Picture didn't load at first for me and I thought you were admitting to being 20.

It's funny I didn't hear 36 chambers until after wu forever. Someone got me 36 as a gift because they saw me listening to forever. I wasnt really feeling forever (still knee deep in west coast bias at the time) and avoided listening to 36 for about a month. Throwing that on finally and listening on my beat up discman with the stolen airplane headphones...it was a fucking revelation. Album didn't leave my discman for weeks.

36 Chambers is one of those rare albums that didn't click with me like it did for most but I can still groove to and respect as a classic

Anyone know where to start if one wishes to listen to french hiphop?

I've gotten the impression that France seeem to have one of the most interesting non-anglophone rap scenes but I really don't know where to start.

I mostly listen to experimental hiphop (various definitive jux rappers), madlib jazz-inspired hip hop (a tribe called quest, nujabes etc.) and political hiphop.

Fucking bums didn't do anything for the 20th anniversary.
They should have had an album out in time for Black Friday, coming out this Tuesday. Maybe have Tarantino do a documentary or some shit considering he loves the Clan. Plus three straight performances on Jimmy Fallon/The Roots. Instead they did nothing and barely toured together this year.

Has any hip hop group turned down more free money than these guys? It's not like Led Zeppelin turning down money by not touring or releasing a new album, because the members of Zeppelin are stacked; Jimmy Page lives in a fucking castle. Whereas most of the Wu aren't particularly well off except RZA and perhaps Meth. Maybe that's why guys like Deck and Masta Killa tend to always be ready to work, whereas Meth/Ghost/Rae catch feelings so much. But even Deck revived his career and made money with Czarface. Rae made good indie money but it might be gone due to his label being shit.

If RZA wasn't producing dope shit why not go to Cali and work with Alchemist. Maybe 10 Alch beats, a couple unreleased RZA beats, a Kanye track...and you're done. Nas guest verse, maybe an Odd Future collab, that's it. There's literally no way a project like that wouldn't be an AOTY contender.

Even tribe is going on tour with Kanye.

As individuals their new work may not get much attention outside of the enthusiast press but as a group with the right promotion they can still garner the attention of mainstream media. If tech 9 is eating off his releases they could easily double his sales along with merch. With the right show they probably would have sold arenas in some cities like NY, London, Paris, Berlin.

As it stands by interviewing current artists about the clan's influence MTV has put in more effort than the Wu themselves.
