better ban it to be safe

A bit late to this but the issue has been resolved.

The hacking may have been me getting tired and a product of my slow descent into insanity.

My only friendremaining from my era-a bad guy- just showed up recently to check me for money under the guise that he wanted to hook up again. Quickly it hit me, for the last time, it's everyone for themselves at this point, no more just being happy to be a round friends.
All just lies and deceit with no love left from the years we spent together as kids.

What compounds the issue there is that I'm having a lot of difficulty fitting in with new people I meet in my life, through work mostly, moreso, and I hate to say this, white kids(my race) more than other races. I can't really explain why as I feel I've always worked to be able to at least flirt comfortably with my own race, but lately I just can't get serious as they want me to be or something.

To escape I come here but part of me wants to create and not consume and it kills me when i can't motivate myself. I did write a little book for my kid if I ever have one- I want to edit it more-I want to rap to express my frustrations to show him my life too. Yet all of it just seems to drop off when I realie wher I'm at, So I fall back to baser things like porn and long walks with my dog listening to rap at night just dreaming of things being different. My money is almost gone despite all my years of saving, my new job is real tough and doesn't pay too well also.

Huh man I don't know what I'm doing anymore and just feel so isolated and alone and crazy. It's just a crazy world man, I'm going to be homeless soon because I can't stay here with no money I just can't stand being worthless like this.
Apologize if I bother with the vent. I'm not depressed too, life is depressed.

Anyone here the phone convo between Maino and Trinidad James?

LMAO the fight between these two no tier rappers.

Maino's real fight should be with the local radio stations. James is talking out of his league too.

Won't even fuck with OutKast at festivals when all the crowd wants to hear is Hey Ya, Way You Move, and Ms. Jackson.

If one of them needs more money, then they'll do a tour later in the year and I'll catch a show then.

Shit, maybe they'll do an LA show between the two Coachella dates. I'll go to that in a heartbeat.
What's wrong with Ms. Jackson?

It's Outkast's "Stairway to Heaven".

If it's outkasts stairway, is it the hip.hop stairway?

Does hip.hop have a free bird equivalent?

Maino is waving that NY flag so well yet none of them will buy his album.

NY is nothing more than a hub for other cities right now. Atlanta still runs shit, with Drake/Kendrick/Cole solo repping their own cities. At some point these grimy motherfuckers need to go to a club and figure out what's popping and how to NY-ize it. Mainstream hip hop has basically been remaking Lugar beats since Ross and Flocka crushed the buildings.

NY should probably be trying to replicate what Cole is doing. He doesn't have a bit of southern shit in his music yet gets non-stop airplay because he has the right image and understands the "pop rap" game. Maybe NY should focus on that lane because I'm not sure they can come up with their own club sound at this point. I'm no Cole Stan but he has two singles off Born Sinner that are doing well, and She Knows will do well too. The rest of his album isn't poppy...not saying it's good, but NY should try that blueprint again. They just need someone who understands melody, not someone who says "let's put Mary J Blidge on this yo."

NY needs to go back on that retro tip and bring back the 80s. I should move there, start dressing like Kid N Play, hire moose to be my hypeman wearing a giant digital clock and rap only about some yes yes yall shit.

I don't necessarily disagree with any of this but Maino's beef should be with the local radio stations who don't break the local guys and not some scrub like James who is mostly right in what he says but has no standing to say so.

And why would people buy Maino's album? Who wants to? He might put out a good street single or two here and there but you have to follow it up with a full album that holds people's attention. Regardless of how people feel about Yeezus, MCHG, NWTS, or MMLP2 people bought those off the singles plus there is some loyalty or assurance of work to be on the album. Guys like Maino don't put together complete projects for people to spend money on them. Especially not in the current climate of the music industry.

I also still think some of the dominance of the southern rap sound is a mirage. It gets radio play but doesn't really sell all the time for everyone.

Broken shells everywhere
People eating at Red Lobster cuz they just don't care
I can't take the smell, can't take the noise
No IT cert money to move out guess I got no choice
Old people in the front room, Soulja Girls in the back
Kampsy in the alley with a Bud Light 30 rack
I tried to get away but I couldn't get far
Toku sold my wheels to fill his drug jar
Don't push me cuz I'm close to the edge
I'm trying to DJ in Japan so I can get some head

I think NY rap just needs to lighten up and have fun again. I think thats kinda what Esch is getting at with the 80s thing. By fun I don't just mean smoking weed and popping bottles either but enjoying life in general. Most NY rappers look miserable to me. Part of why Trap Lord works well for me is Ferg legit sounds like he's having a great time on most of it.

Maino is that dude. Can't say I care for him, but he does his thing, has a strong core fanbase and still eats at the end of the day.

Diplomatically and respectfully told Trinidad Jame$ how much of a fuckboy he's being. If any of the rest of NY had any balls he wouldn't have made it out of that city without being chin checked. Just waiting for the Vlad interview now where Rocky talks about how he respects his right to have an opinion and shit.

Toku has got a point though, a lot of the stigmatization and dreariness stems from the content. That's what makes Bronson refreshing IMO.

Communication Breakdown

Slayer equivalent is WU!!!! TANG!!!! with everyone throwing up the Wu hand sign.

Im not saying in terms of quality, only popularity. The best Zep song is Achilles Last Stand anyway.

Also, who's doing the aoty thread this year?

(lol @ nobody caring)

I'm torn between Kashmir and When the Levee Breaks. Achilles Last Stand is great too though.

Haven't been bothered to catch up on releases and honestly, don't care enough to do a top 10 this year but if no one wants to do the thread, I'll see if I can make a quick one like last years.

Cryptic: Keep your head up, man. If there's anything you can appropriate from cultures outside your own: look towards the boundless optimism of the African American. Mainstream white-euro culture can be very cynical, jaded and pessimistic, which can lead to you doing more harm than good - but you probably recognize that dichotomy already on some level. It's even more prevalent in the work environment. It's Think vs. Do, kid. You create your reality.

……

So what's the GAF consensus on the Mac Miller's "Movies…"? Starting to like this kid way more than I ever thought I would.

Speaking of NY rap, RATKING's new track:

Top 10 rap album of the year twenty-thirteen easily.

Better than I would have thought months ago, but it had little lasting appeal. Few terrific tracks that still get play occasionally though.

Communication Breakdown isn't popular? That's the first thing that comes to mind when I think of Zeppelin and something like Get The Led Out on 104.1 THE HAWK (solid hour, no commercials of Zep).... shit is usually the first track they'll play ending on something like Lemon Song or I Can't Quit You Baby.

Word, last years was fine.

Definitely somebody who can manage the tallying. Also, are we calling it "GAF-hop awards" or would that alienate a lot of people.

Who cares if we alienate people, the OT is terrible and they're gonna fuck everything up with Eminem scores.

Lots of zep hits for you to pick from. *shrug*

Where should I start with Mac Miller?
Sub question: should I even start with Mac Miller?

Just get Watching Movies and work your way into his early work and give it a try. I greatly enjoyed Watching Movies but don't care to go back into his back catalog.

Get all of his side projects though like the jazz-themed tape, Larry Fisherman ego, etc.

for every other eminem pick in the top 3 we drop it down by one spot and move the displaced up one.

that should offset it enough.

then Mac Miller takes the AOTY title
