Speaking of which, has there been any word on that Michelle Obama rap album? Can't find a date anywhere.
All these plebeian late on Purity Ring train, should also check out some Grimes too
I thought you meant grieves at first, and had me all excited that I wasn't the only person in here who liked his emo shit. Oh well.
TBH the people on the card are pretty professional outside of Daylyt, and I don't think Daylyt would do anything that would affect anyone else's ability to perform. Like Smack said, 4 years of URL without violent incidents and those were primarily Math. I wouldn't expect it from this event.
Arsonal came up with a crude way to sell out the venue but it'll work I think. Simple math, sell 1000 tickets at $100, and you've got a 100k. I bet Surf, Calicoe and Holla all took pay cuts too.
UW seems to have stepped their shit up but they have no experience throwing an event in a venue this big and URL has shown audio is not something to take light. Audio is definitely the biggest worry here, and they better thoroughly test that shit. I don't want UW fucking up match of the forever.
Thanks

DRAKE - TROPHIES (PROD. BY HIT-BOY)
(This was the beat in that NWTS teaser)
Hey, whoever started the fire, I'm just stoked. Great album. So relaxing.
Cracka you must be drunk
Bizarre Ride II is an amazing album and I bought a Wii U today (The Legend of Zelda one)
Dreamcast had games though.I been had the wii U and I gives a fuck if it goes out like the dreamcast. I loved my goddamn dreamcast!
Wii U already got a better first party line up than dreamcast ever had.
I wouldn't really call Goodz professional when he's never seen without a bottle of Hennessey in hand. Still, the number of events that run smooth isn't enough to prescribe a phobia for me, and I'm sure these battles are much more awesome live in a crowd environment. That's kind of my point though. Smack's been doing this kind of stuff for years and even he can't get the audio stuff consistent enough. And it really doesn't matter how professional the rappers are. Goodz is typically very professional but it only takes one dude in the crowd to ruin some shit. I mean even Poison Pen had an event in a much smaller venue that had a dude seizure in the crowd and completely jacked up Marvwon's third round against Ness Lee. To me, Battle Rap really is a lot like most sports in that you have the best seat in the house when you're at home watching it. At least most of the time.
As a sidenote, I wish Ness Lee got more coverage because the dude puts together some of the most technical schemes I've seen in battles. He's supremely underrated.

He drives Hov`s driver around when he's off duty.whatever happened to Freeway? that dude still around?
What a bunch of bullshit. Is this battle filmed already? I hope Hollow washes this asshole.Apparently, according to Hollow on twitter, part of Lux' "plan" is never releasing the Lux vs. Hollow battle on YT. PPV only. Even Hollow is saying that's on some sucka shit and it should be released to YT maybe after a month. He says Lux proposed it to URL too and they said f that. Way to stifle your own exposure, with what could be the best move in your career and cement yourself moving into music, all for a temporary cheque.
What gets me the most is Lux keeps saying he's doing this shit for the culture, but he's only looking out for his own rent money. That's the worst part of it all, Lux keeps coming up with all these schemes to make himself more money, while the rest of the game has been fucked up because there's no consistent source of money there and rappers are like "if Mook can spit some bullshit and get $20k, why am I being underpaid?".
Nope. Jan 26th.What a bunch of bullshit. Is this battle filmed already? I hope Hollow washes this asshole.
Lux is just following them #newrules brehs. It's just different.
If I were Lux I would've put out a goddamn album. A real one, not a mixtape. You telling me nobody wanted to sign the guy? You telling me he doesn't know he's on borrowed time?
Yeah but who is trying to pay to listen Lux make "Songs"? Maybe he could get a good paying job as a ghostwriter for a more commercial artist. Especially if said artist was afraid he would have to defend himself on tape. but even then I can't see him making much more than he makes now unless he gets a sweetheart deal.
I just don't think he made the impact he should have initially. His mixtape came out a full year after he destroyed Calicoe. Yeah in that time he was able to hook up with a bunch of artists and network but it hurt his momentum. And how many of those dudes will remember Lux in 3 years? All you need to be commercial is a hook. He gave himself the hook. He just isn't capitalizing on it. Probably too late.
The real version of Trophies just dropped.

Mainstream really starting to like dat Bay Area sound this gonna be a big hit.

Not that I think anyone reasonably expects Lux to have mainstream success, but I don't even see why a label would scout him for a smaller publishing deal or anything. His magnum opus had a slow burn of 3 million views over a year, I don't really think that's on the level of other viral hip-hop sensations really, or even enough to warrant a frenzy of attempts to sign him. I type in "get this work" in my YT search and get Iggy Azalea as the top hit. His appeal is still restricted to this insular group of hip hop heads.
He would be best to cultivate a fanbase like Mac Miller did and go independent. Why not when he has earned the respect of his peers and he wouldn't have trouble trying to get features and probably wouldn't get charged crazy either? I don't think it's over for Lux, because if he knocks it out of the park again, who knows how high his stock will rise, but I also think that could stifle his progress if Hollow cooks him or even puts a dent in his armor. I don't know how he can exceed that performance really, especially against Hollow's comedy and ability to throw Lux' words back at him in freestyles. If he slips, Hollow will end him.
It's just, at what point should he and can he let the battle thing go and produce something that everyone can see and appreciate musically. I mean I fucks with this battle shit and Lux heavy and I still haven't downloaded that tape, despite liking everything I've heard. Eyes are on, but he hasn't been able to move those eyes towards his next step. Drake and Shaq are hosting the High Stakes event, decidedly bringing the most exposure thus far to this, and you decide to keep it behind a PPV? This is the opportunity to turn 3 million into 15 million and bring in more consistent cheques in the future but he can't see past his nose. He's trying to make the most out of this one opportunity as opposed to what other opportunities it could create in the future.
Cmon brah, you need more than that. You need a distinctive sound, the ability to write the right kind of songs, a certain voice, and a look. Loaded Lux looks like an xbox 360 Redguard preset in Oblivion character creator.
edit: now that ive watched more battle rap, think Calicoe vs. Lux is not really that great. It's a bodybag, but it doesn't really have that full unadulterated sonning feel until round 3. Round 2 is mostly just calicoe starting to come really wack and Lux building up steam... But it's with some pretty standard bars.
Not that long till the new ot guys. Feels like this one is still new! Who's gonna do it?
GAF-Hop |OTX| The Dynasty: GAF La Familia
Bay been making hits.
Everyone judges everyone by their physical appearances. It's hard for an ugly dude to blow up/be commercially relevant in 2013. This is the post-metro era. This is...odd. Why are we judging rappers by their physical appearances? Besides, if anything, he should've used the suit thing as his signature. Now he looka lika everybody else. That doesn't help
who lost out last time?
