Showbiz & A.G.'s Mugshot Music Preloaded is pretty damn ill boom bap, but gets a little too pedantic for my taste at times. Also although his delivery just feels a bit telegraphed and unvaried.

So, uh somehow I totally missed it, but Yelawolf is dropping Trunk Muzik Returns early this month? Fuck, I'm back on the train.

Also, to keep the Lion roaring:

Trunk Muzik returns? Oh shit, it sounds like a desperate move but it's NEEDED to make me a fan again.

that's what i always hear, is that grime is dead. i'd still be interested in hearing any quality grime recommendations outside of diz and wiley. dead music is usually better than current music.

You want current or classic?
Actually fuck it, current is trash. Firstly I would definitely recommend this album:

I used to love grime, although I never got into it too deep.
But I loved early Kano, Ghetto (Freedom of Speech is probably my favorite grime release ever, listen to the way the Ten Crack Commandments beat is flipped here, or this track, it goes so fucking hard), Wiley and Skepta. Also random stuff by other artists, Run the Road compilations and so on.

They all fell off though, but Ghetto is dropping some nice stuff still (he goes by the name Ghetts now), I love this track, especially when I started to recognize the verses they were paying homage to.

Ghetto has some amazing rhyme patterns, switching flows often while remaining interesting lirics-wise.

Listened to 'How I Got Over' and 'Undun' on my way to work and back today. Never gave the former a proper listen before. Fuck, two incredibly dope albums.

How I got over would've been a classic (or at least perfect) if it wasn't for the last track with Peedi Peedi. How that garbage made it's way on the album is mind-boggling. The bonus track is just as awful.

nice, love that album but it's a bit poppy (not that anything is wrong with that)

damn Bolt is a beast

Seen Hov back in 07 with a live band. Shit was amazing.

Liquid Swords 2 : Return of the Shadowboxer IS coming.

Its coming after his next album Dark Matter.

This interview is from 2 years ago. Keep the faith kids. Its coming. Someday.

“I am definitely a relatively slow writer,” he said in the interview. “I’m fastidious and a perfectionist.” - From AboveGround magazine

I'll believe it when I see it. Dark Matter is certainly happening, and has received some attention from interesting places (NY Times, science sites, etc). I'm not expecting much from it though, besides him reading from biology books trying to sound smart

have you heard Aubrey and Aaliyah's new collab?

http://soundcloud.com/futuresounds-bgr/aaliyah-enough-said-feat-drake

Not bad, but, 40's production style seems kinda limited. Like, I swear I heard this same beat 2 or 3 times on Take Care.

When I first heard of the project, this was my exact thought. I have no doubts that he is a smart dude though.

yeah, the whole time i was listening, i kept thinking "this sure does sound FAMILIAR"

Doesnt help that he runs everything through a low pass filter and his drums usually sound average at best. I actually liked his production on Take Care, but it is kinda obvious he has a very limited sound.

I keep listening to that Aaliyah...man..Ill be honest, she was my first celebrity crush, her voice brings back so many memories from junior high. I honestly think this song would be a lot better without Drake on it. And I like Drake.

I MIss You-Aaliyah

Man, that track still chokes me up...

Edit: Andre Royo(Bubbles from The Wire) is in that video for some random ass reason...lol

They were pretty popular from what I remember. I saw them in concert, Chris Brown got up on stage and started spazzing out and dancing. It was surreal.

I think the bigger crime is the half-assed production from 40. Also, from here on out I am gonna refer to 40 as 40water to annoy Blackace. Sounds good.

Pharrell is basic as fuck, cant c/s. I agree that the Clipse would be a good 4-5/10 without him tho

i like N*E*R*D

i like Neptunes production

but Pharrell really can't sing that well, folks

i like him, but yeah he's really basic

Pharrell is a top 10 producer of all time, honestly. Not even for his contributions to hip hop but just music in general. You're tripping.

Not a chance. His beats are underwhelming. Anytime i hit skip on an album its usually because its a Pharell track, either that or a Swizz beats track.

Blue Magic nearly ruined American Gangster for me.

Cant sleep on Swizzys late 90s shit though. Ruff Ryders Anthem.

FUCK DRAKE!

That's all I have to say on the matter.

Why were NERD not more popular? Like mainstream popular. Like BLOW UP HUGE 200M VIEWS ON YOUTUBE popular? Songs even as late as Spaz are insanely great.

In Search Of... is my favourite album.
I think what hurt them is they were seen as a crossover band.
Chad and Pharrell had pop/r&b/hip-hop on lock at that point and then picked up a guitar and drums and started singing anti-war songs and stuff.
They didn't appeal to The Neptunes demographic or any other really.

You don't need a huge range or a even a perfectly tuned voice to make a good hook, just charisma...How do you think guys like Future get by?

I honestly have never heard anything with Future on it. And it isnt his lack of range, it was his off pitch voice on Frontin that killed it.

As far as N*E*R*D go, Pharrell's falsetto is part of the charm. If you're basing the music on his singing voice you're not getting it.

In terms of Neptunes tracks, he writes some of the best hooks, period.
Granted he didn't have a huge amount of competition considering hip-hop hooks are routinely dire but it's still true.

Tell 'em!

Come on now. Grindin' and Drop It Like It's Hot are monumental.
Not feeling those beats just reflects poorly on your taste.

Timb and missy should definitely because of how close they were, but it's 2012 and I wouldn't miss em if they weren't on it.
