it's not bad in anyone's book, or at least it shouldnt be

it's a term for MEDIOCRE

Yeah, basically.

Everytime i listen to something by Pharrell and sometimes Timbo it just sounds like some basic ass pop shit. Nothing wrong with that, its just not me.

Since Gaf-Hop seems to be finding love for bass albums I'll post a few that I know they'll enjoy from this year:

Yo you the man for this post Des. Not taken nearly enough time to listen to bass and electronic music this year like I have in previous ones but will definitely try to run through the ones on this list within the next few weeks. I'd also like to mention a couple i've found pretty nice this year.

This is a double disc release so fat could definitely have been cut from it, but I like the way this collective have managed to make use of their influences (genres that were perhaps more in their prime in the 90s such as Jungle and Drum & Bass) and mangle them into a sound all of their own. Akashic Visions which i've posted about before happens to be my favourite video of the year although admittedly that doesn't mean much as I don't really watch all that many music videos nowadays.

Burial is quite simply the fucking man when it comes to this Bass music shit and this EP (which can be streamed here) goes real good with Street Halo which he released last year. Him and Four Tet have done a few tracks together now and if they did some kinda full length project together, it's possible that my brain would melt from the greatness that would probably result from it.

Oh yeah as we tend to talk rap in this thread, I will bring it back to something rap related by posting up Rich Boy and Supa Villain's new joint mixtape.

Come on now. Grindin' and Drop It Like It's Hot are monumental.
Not feeling those beats just reflects poorly on your taste.

Reflects poorly? Nah it means I have an opinion. Never liked Drop it like its hot, yeah it was a big seller and got constant radio play but was always too corny for me.

Co sign to the fullest.

Nice. I will be at the Houston show. I will assume that Slim Thug will be opening up for him.

So, uh somehow I totally missed it, but Yelawolf is dropping Trunk Muzik Returns early this month? Fuck, I'm back on the train.

Also, to keep the Lion roaring:

AzfmK-ICUAEkxZN.jpg:large

None of that gives me reason to think Trunk Music 2 will be decent. So Snoop getting his Shabba Ranks on and Yela rapping about how in love he is? PASS.

Reflects poorly? Nah it means I have an opinion.

Yeah... and your opinion can reflect poorly on your taste.
If somebody said Shakespeare was a shit writer, Welles a shit director, Picasso a shit painter, etc then they would just be 'expressing their opinion.'
They would also have shit taste.
They can both be one and the same.

If you don't like something, cool. It's not for you.
If you think something is bad because you don't like it, then that's nonsense.

Unless you said Fuck Tupac's mom for all the post-death albums, this holds little weight with me.

".........."

I couldn't listen to an album that was made after someone died. It just seems wrong to me. like I can imagine record labels grabbing verses and using shit that the artist didn't even like. Truly the only album I listen to from a dead rapper was UGK 4 Life and only one half of the group was alive so that doesn't count for me.

Really?

You don't know me, you obviously haven't been in this thread long, but you want to call me a Drake Stan? GTFO and take your "tea" with you.

I have no problem with him executive producing an Aaliyah album as there have been plenty of post-death albums coming out. As usual, I will wait for the product to come out before judging. But keep my name in your posts since you like the taste.

If you knew how Timbo and Missy, the ones who damn near made Aaliyah, had been trying to get this off the ground for years but were continually rejected but now Drake, who never even met her let alone worked with her and made her career, is being given the go ahead whilst declining to involve Timbaland & Missy..... then you'd see how silly your post is.

It's nothing like Tupac's mother, at all.

This is what Timbaland said.

That's why I asked the fucking question.

I mean, if you don't understand the fundamental difference between somebody who birthed Tupac from their womb making paper on her son's stuff, and somebody Aaliyah didn't even know (and didn't even try to get Tim or Missy on this project from the word GO), then whatever. Stay salty with that post though.

Seriously, don't try to act all hard. I may be Brand New to the thread, but I'll still read you like a Christian reads the Chick-Fil-A menu on a Wednesday.

Now SIT

I generally don't like it, but it depends on how it is used. Like the Tupac stuff, I loved the unreleased stuff before it got remixed and released and guest artists who never met Tupac got involved. I cherish the Tupac stuff I got (like 9 albums worth of unreleased songs) because it was all so raw.

If this ends up being "finished" Aaliyah songs with minimal features, I might be fine with it. But most likely it will be Drake, Lil Wayne, Niki, etc. all over the album.

Another drive-by poster in this thread. Talking all this noise for 2 weeks, then we never see you again. If anything I try to bring some peace to this thread, especially when it gets heated but you are trying to bring it to me? I ain't got time for that. Keyboard gangstas are boring and pathetic as hell to me.

So consider this a win for you. Go to the store and get a trophy for all I care.

Posthumous releases can be cool so long as they're handled carefully. Elliott Smith comes to mind. Don't remix shit, don't bring in bs producers who were fans to finish. Just release shit as is if possible for the most and just label it as "hey, we know fans are rabid, there might be something in here for completionist sake and you might have heard these down the road eventually anyway."

Another one was the Camu Tao release from a couple years ago that El-P finished. That shit was good too.

This is what Timbaland said.

If it is dope when it comes out, I will buy. If it is wack, I won't. I don't care about the drama that went into making it. When I DJ'd, I saw so much drama - fights, crack, rappers hitting other rappers' gfs, shootings, etc. in the making of albums and tours. The music is what matters.

I remember doing a frat party and shooting breaks out. I stopped the music, got a gun pointed at me with dude saying, "keep the jams rolling, bitch!" I started playing 'Gangsta of Love' with accompanying background gunshots.

Also, I'm a pretty big Missy and Timbaland fan but I'm way more interested in hearing a Drake x 40 version of this Aaliyah material than a Timbaland x Missy version in 2012.
