My first post was asking for podcast recommendations, second post was: "It's crazy that this month alone we already got a few albums better than 2009's best... Ecstatic is nice but album of year status just shows how weak 2009 was."

Indeed, this decade has been good to hip-hop...

also time to ask... anyone catch up with my latest mixes?

So I just heard that Alchemist Russian Roulette for the first time.
It was alright. I guess. Whatever.

FUCK!

Oh, first post(s) flawlessness in full effect:

If by any chance you are working backwards through his catalogue, AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted + Kill At Will & Death Certificate are going to blow you away. Both infinitely superior to The Predator
Kill At Will is a short 6 track EP that was released shortly after AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted.
Re-releases of AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted have always included the Kill At Will disc so I kinda see them as the same album now.
But yeah, get AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted LP, Kill At Will EP and Death Certificate LP and I can guarantee if you like The Predator you won't regret it!

Have you checked out any NWA yet?
With NWA it's pretty simple:

Straight Outta Compton [with Ice Cube]
Niggaz4Life [without Ice Cube]

both produced by both Dre and Yella. Straight Outta Compton is an amazing album for sure. As you're on a Cube kick that's the one to get for now. Try and get the 17 track version that ends with 'A Bitch Iz a Bitch'.
There's a few other tracks by them scattered around but really, just get the 17 track first album for now and play it over and over :)

Stepped in dropping knowledge with no intro cause I'm 'bout it 'bout it

Sorry for resuming the Kanye-talk but I'm relistening College Dropout and in Never Let Me Down... Jay is by far the weakest link. And he appears twice on the damn thing. Completely ruins the song for me, I might just cut out his second verse in Audacity.

Jay's second verse is the best on the song

Built the ROC from a pebble, pedalled rock before I met you,
Pedalled bikes, got my nephews pedal bikes because they special

Got damn

Yeah, the second verse is the best. Cut the first...

I also like how Kanye sounds surprised that Jay is doing a second verse. I don't know if that really happened in the studio, but it really felt like you're on the recording session. Great stuff.

Nah sorry guys, Jay's verse doesn't fit at all. On any other song it might have been good
not really
but when you hear Ye rapping some really personal stuff and J-Ivy being all spiritual Jay comes off as if he didn't even listen to the other two verses.

That's true. The same thing happens with the Diamonds Remix, but that verse is so awesome that everything is forgiven.
