I'd pay to see him perform from that mixtape over a lot of shit. Don't hate.

I fux with Warm Up, it was great. But a "5 year anniversary" for a mixtape is lolworthy breh. It's like celebrating a two month anniversary with your girl. Unless you have terminal cancer that shit isn't hot.

No I.D. brings magic to whatever he touches. First Chain, D.O.A., Tears of Joy for Ross, pretty much everything on The Dreamer, The Believer. Dude knows how to make soulful and boom bap music without it sounding dated. He brings a certain freshness to old school sounds, can't say that for many other producers that try to emulate those styles.

I've been a loyal stan for years. I've never failed to mention this dude's good looks, never been disloyal, never done some shit that I wasn't expected to do. But what comes back? You think Nas will say "it's aite, I'm getting Alchemist and Sounwave to do some beats" or "Justice League always does well with me, I'll give them a call?" Nah.

This game is rigged, man. Us Nas stans are like the little bitches on the chess board.

I dont deny that it sounds fresh and stylistically right for Nas. But I question how genuinely good it is. Imagine Nas over Cocaine Pinata beats even.

Once again the artistic menu is at his fingertips, and he orders boiled fish.

Seriously how does Swizz keep getting money, dude is the most over appreciated producer in the game. Cole's shit sounds less dated.

Dudes who came up in the late 90s early 00s kinda stan him. Ye called him the producing GOAT. Which is hilarious to me, and unlike most dudes in here I actually like some of his catalogue and respect him.

I don't know if its the right fit for Nas, just defending No I.D.

I think Nas just needs a fresh sound TBH. He needs to team up with an up and coming (non-Drill/Trap) producer and just do an entire album with them. I feel the more he tries to do some sort of throwback or emulate something of the past, the more he gets left behind. As much shit as people give Jay, he made sure he never retreaded old ground for too long and kept reinventing himself. Which is the mark of pretty much any artist that lasts longer than 10 years in the game. I think No I.D. helped with finding a more "mature" sound for Nas, but that isn't enough.

I can already hear the James Fauntleroy hook on there now.

He makes hits. You can't argue with hits. You could be asking the same question about Pharrell right now, they're cut from the same cloth.

Lol.. Nas can't 'reinvent' himself. He IS throwback thats what he does. He should stay making boom bap music, just tap into a mix of lush and gutter sounds to do so. Nas is a rapper. Thats what he does best. Write and rap east coast boom bap music. He can and should keep doing that.

Swizz isnt really overappreciated either. Rap fans nowadays HATE his ass, this thread being perfect examples.

Problem I have with No ID is that his beats are too clean. Shit honestly bothers the hell out of me. Even his attempts at "grimey" beats just come off as spilled milk in paradise. It works for some songs, but eh, I ain't trying to hear a full project from NO ID producing majority of it because of that fact.

What was the last cold ass beat Swizz made for real?
I know dudes here are gonna disagree but On to the Next One was dope. That Diamonds joint of mac and cheese 3 is okay. Versus off magna carta is straight even if its just a snippet. Thats about it.

He has no business being on a Nas album in 2014 or ever really. Its not a good stylistic mesh in fact I dont really like swizz with anyone but Hov, X or the LOX.

You're going to have to define clean here, because No I.D. isn't afraid to put some distortion on things, nor is he one to rely on punchier, cleaner drums. At all.

Future ft. Pusha T - Move that Dope Dough on Jimmy Fallon. Lol @ censoring the chorus but not the verses.

DJ Kay Slay ft. Papoose, Vado & Ransom - Real Hip Hop. Couldn't have made this up.

A$AP Mob ft. A$AP Twelvyy - Xscape video.

I guess I don't really get where you're coming from on this. I assumed this is pretty much what he's known for stylistically.

Lo-Fi? Nah, he certainly isn't lofi sounding at all. Just listen to some old wu tang, first album not remastered then some no id and you should catch on what I mean. Or a better comparison really would be like some of old Spaceghostpurpp music then listen to how it sounds remastered

Edit: An ASAP member rapping for 3 mins straight no chorus. Ambitious

I feel like Biggie and Diamonds I can't disagree with, but on to the next one is one of those annoying ass hook dependent rap songs that gets play because of the reputation of the people involved and money hats. Money in the Bank is the track I would have posted and that was from 8 years ago. Rap trends can live and die in half that span.

'On to the next one' is a great phrase though. Honestly, its one ive heard people use in real life in relation to lots of different things, and to me thats the mark of one done right. And dont front on me like you have a problem with catchphrase rap.

Shit just goes hard, and it has a good if basic message, learning how to progress after an L or after things change.
