Real rap, I've been victim to and never agreed with the inconsistent modding on GAF, especially when a mod gets hot and does whatever, and I'm consistently vocal about it. The ToS on this site has always been shaky though. There are 100 things you can get banned for that either loosely fit the ToS or not at all. That's part of GAF though, same with the OT fuckery.

Having said that, GAF is still 100x better than 99% of other forums I've encountered with this respect. It'd be sad to see y'all leave for The Bore or whatever, especially considering this is my favourite sub community on GAF and we're the five year nation, but I'm really not tryna join a haven for the place where a lot of the legitimately terrible posters that got banned from GAF can coagulate, no thanks, and there's definitely no security that other places won't suffer the same fate, I think it's a universal internet issue at this point wrt discourse and people being ready to make snap judgments. Ever since the PS4 was revealed, Gaming has went full GameFAQs with stannery and people in OT aren't getting Dr. Eggman'd anymore for making a ton of dumb threads, but I'd still rather post here TBH. I feel like nowadays, because of juniors and stans from the beginning of the console generation, discourse has severely suffered and GAF is best when you stick to the few subcommunities anyways, that way you don't catch a stray in a stupid thread.

I'd rather post somewhere like The Bore or the coli where i can occasionally get my shitposting rocks off. It's a video game forum ffs, not a fount of higher learning. Plus the forum is just too damn big now, too impersonal. And they don't tolerate any fun or joke posters outside of community, which is wack.

With the amount of Professional Outrage and "Oh I am offended" out there, I imagine that Social Media/Outrage Consultant will be a LinkedIn job title pretty soon.

I wish more people would just ignore a joke if they find it offensive and unfunny, instead of being outraged and freaking out. Nothing kills a bad joke more than it bombing with little to no reception. That same logic can be applied to posts, so long as it's not just total shit posting and trolling. The fine line has become finer and finer it seems.

I think(and I don't wanna put words in anyone's mouth) that Syph is referring to Poli-GAF threads. GAF is overwhelmingly left and it's been that way for as long as I've been here due to the demographic GAF attracts. Syph's point isn't that GAF leans one way or the other, but that discussion suffers because it never gets a chance to take off, and I'd agree with that. Imo, the echochamber OT produces truncates discussion and threads quickly devolve into a handful of played out scenarios. Like Esch and cy have said, the problem is the lack of quality conversation.
