Hey Esch, thoughts on 9th Wonder saying Drake told him that Phonte birthed his style?
rVtN8WL.png
I don't know where it fits into whatever you've got going on here, but Drake has said publicly over and over that Phonte is one of his biggest influences as an MC.

apparently yeezy's playing his new album at parties or some shit? shit needs to drop already - we been out here, some of us aint hit our girls yet etc

Kanyes on SNL next weekend, I'm sure the album is coming out next month

hes not :( but it might play out like that again in November who knows

speaking of Ye's next album, this tweet has me thinking: https://twitter.com/DragonflyJonez/status/523250424904974336

using this line of thought, what if Bound 2 serves as the transition to this new album?

Bound 2 was supposed to be the opener of Yeezus fyi
srs

I can't remember where I read it but I remember Kanye saying that he opens his albums a certain way or something and that if he had opened Yeezus like he traditionally does then Bound 2 would have been the first song.

To me What Up Gangsta is right up there as strongest introduction along w/ Lord Willin and Its Dark and Hell is Hot.

Now if you say my name in your rhyme
You better what, watch what you say
You get carried away, you can get shot and carried away
Now here's a list of MC's that can kill you in eight bars
50, umm Jay-Z and Nas
I'ma say this shit now and never again
We ain't buddies, we ain't partners and we damn sure ain't friends
The games you playin', you get killed like that
Actin' like you all hard, you ain't built like that
See me when you see me nigga, one

I feel like #FactsOnly is a subtle Nas diss, insinuating that Ether was full of fabrications when in reality Rocafella really did die of AIDs, Jay wanted to be on It Was Written, and Eminem did murder him on his own shit.

Eminem fell off after Infinite

#FACTSONLY

Terrible post.

Infinite Eminem was a shitty Illmatic monkey rhythm rapper flippy cover band. I don't like any era of his, but before he was molded by Iovine he had no song concepts, he was trash with no direction. Like Big L with no swag and none of the gawd-tier punchlines.

Well, Bound 2 might fall in line with how some reports say a lot of the songs Ye is playing right now are a "throwback," which Bound 2 very much is. Still will probably have drums that pump a bit more.

so glad it wasn't - you'd kick the doors in with the best track that way, would've made the rest of it kinda fall flat in comparison
Ye actually said explicitly, he knew people would fuck with the album more if he opened with that song as a bombastic jam, so he put the most abrasive, left field song first.

Blood On The Leaves is probably the 2nd worst song off of Yeezus after Bound 2 TBH. Kind of appreciate how he added to the original TNGHT beat, but I find the autotune at the end increasingly grating.

Infinite is pretty boring if you have a hip hop IQ but the title track and It's Ok are still my jams.

We're about 10 years away from official hip hop sites naming Infinite the best rap album of 1996. The #shift is coming brehs.

I used to occasionally spark up to Tonite because it's kind of like a fun cheery song about nothing with a bubbly beat, but the rest of Infinite is pretty crap. At least after he got Linkin Park'd he made songs with more passion, better concepts, more distinctive production, etc. Overall it's like a 5-6/10 album though, totally forgettable, might as well listen to Canibus.

Friday night song for GAFHOP

LL Cool J ft. Dr. Dre - Zoom

Uh, you know you a freak
Before the album went platinum, ya hardly speak
And now you're skin grinnin, gassed off the chrome rims and
twenty room mansion, I rest my Timb's in
Uhh, I feel it how ya shake it
Rings in ya belly, I can't take it
Toss up your Moet, money make it
Last week frontin, tonight butt naked

finally listened to that Rick Ross Mastermind and it is pretty fucking solid, nice cohesive project

yup, ross was very much in his element
beat selection is excellent too

i wouldn't say trash but yes the difference is definitely night and day between pre- and post-Slim Shady EP
there are some gems on Infinite though

might as well listen to Canibus.

too far lol

diggin that, thanks Kastrioti

Blood On The Leaves is probably the 2nd worst song off of Yeezus after Bound 2 TBH.

okay id dig a version with the autotune last minute & a half or whatever cut out for sure (just the beat & nina sample would flow so good) but fuckouttahere with this; Blood is the best track on Yeezus and that grating shit aside reaches a height that MBDTF doesn't quite catch, one of the reasons i kinda dump on that album (plus the coalition of hip hop bloggers that convinced ya'll it was this flawless opus or some shit makes me step up the backlash a la MGS4 on gaming side).

also whenever Infinite is gassed up like it's a real gem i assume it's like Com fans who do that with Can I Borrow A Dollar: i mean, okay, there's some tracks & it deserves a footnote but with stuff like Resurrection/Like Water for Chocolate etc actually showing a refined style, his original shit doesn't age nearly as well so i figure either you don't really dig dude's body of work or just like saying that shit because people safely assume the premier work = best all around
