Big Ghost on twitter was saying Big's first two > Nas' first two

I don't think Diplomatic Immunity can be considered overrated considered it really just appeals to a specific demographic - well, two: some white hipsters and some fatherless black people.

I'll take shit for it but fuck it, Blackace isn't here. The Chornic is the most overrated album in hip hop history. Some amazing production and a few undeniably classic songs mixed in with some wack skits and average tracks. Doggystyle is better and more consistent, Ice Cube's first two albums are better.

He ain't lying though

My pick is Reasonable Doubt if only because when I say I don't like Jay people point at that likes it's gonna change my mind. Fuck Reasonable Doubt.

People that don't like Diplomatic Immunity don't like fun and sport inferior swag.

Didnt say I don't like it. Just think it's overrated, it's a double album of a bunch of buffoons saying goofy shit and playing class clown, over some dope production just leave it at that. all this 5 mic classic talk is nah.

I'm more offended by the Ready to Die shade by DB than any of y'all posts though forreal.

Most overrated album real talk is probably Aquemini. And I love Outkast.

I know it's not considered anywhere near his best, but to me Meet the Parents is one of the best things Jay has ever done.

Did Kanye produce it?

Aquemini is great, but real talk I judge people who prefer it to ATLiens. I judge the fuck out of em

I was like this since I listened to Aquemini first when I was going through OutKast's discography and it resonated with me more at the time. Since then, I've come to realize that ATLiens is the better album.

Nah, Just Blaze did. He's responsible for like 50% of the best Jay joints ever, best producer rapper partnership he's ever had.

As for Ready to Die being overrated, that shit just smacks of pure revisionism. We gonna act like Juicy isn't top 5 most inspirational rap songs ever? That Gimme The Loot ain't a genius song concept and execution? That Big Poppa still doesn't have bitches wine on the dance floor? Everyday Struggle ain't an amazing introspective?

Only song i don't care for on it is Friend of Mine. That shit is not lit..

eminem's discog is garbage

he has no good albums

period
All of them have definitely aged like ass. When we look back at albums that received critical acclaim and hype though now that I really think about it The Heist is the most overrated hip hop album ever.

"The What" and "Gimme The Loot" are probably my two favorite songs on the album...although the rest of it is still good. Idk what others are talking about, I still love that album

MMLP2 is trash tho, pretty common knowledge

I'm just saying it came out to huge amounts of praise, sold like crazy...Eminem Stannery in general...

I love the rounded chorus in Respect

which, incidentally, is another case where an abortion of a skit is tacked onto the end of the song instead of separated as its own track

I blame Puffy

the ratio of good hip hop skits to bad ones is some hilariously lopsided ass pack of numbers
See, I recognize this, and in an age where we consume music in mp3 players, Idgaf about it since I'll just delete em anyway. It's when you go out of your way to make the skit unavoidable that I start to view you as a piece of shit.

Skits seem to really infuriate people, they never bother me like that (except Pause 4 Porno). I tend to think of them as the 90's version of trap DJ drops, I barely notice them anymore.

Who cares if it does? I think that's a crappy reply to someone calling it overrated. It just is my dude, ain't no one saying it's a bad album at all, but overrated for sure or once again it was overrated since it's hardly talked about nowadays. Year is 2014 and albums that came out around that time that got little love when they likely deserved more love in the year they dropped are finally starting to get more shine thanks to the internet, so of course people will think back in retrospect and say yeah maybe this album was a tad bit overrated.

Eh, the heist I understand the praise, it's hard for me to say it is overrated. It's just that safe album you toss in your white gf parents are in the car and you know they barely fuck with black dudes as it is and you want them to feel safe

OB4CL is crazy with the embedded skits. Wouldn't feel bad for copping a cleaned up version.

I skip way too much shit for RTD to be a straight up classic but the tracks that are have been in rotation for like 20 years now. I don't know how you evaluate something like that but I don't begrudge anyone thinking it got a little overpaid it's due. Especially with Biggie being dead and all.
