...she's right

EDIT: What a dumbass for even challenging Kendrick's experience with racism though. Once again showing how juvenile she is and refuting anything important she has to say.

Don't eem know what to think about with the Billboard interview.

The "Untitled" track might not eem resurface

top dawg/kendrick somebody PLS

Good riddance to that Colbert jazz snore

"What did the hipster say"
A piece of obscurity
That's what the hipster said I needed to push me
To satisfy his ego, don't tell other people
Release a limited cassette and call it a prequel
He said I can be his champ, he'll put me on his stamps
Just mis-spell my name so only he can find me on Bandcamp
Obscurity is power, don't be a sellout lackey
Contemplate sexuality in the backseat of a taxi

12/10.

Looking at the larger picture, she does hold some truth in her message. However, the whole "How DARE he says this in a white magazine" kinda invalidates her statement (kinda).

I disagree with Kendrick but for the record, he's not saying Brown deserved to die. He's talking about the rioting and response. I'm not a fan of looting, especially looting in your own neighborhood, but I understand it as a last means of expression. And it's worth noting many of those looters came from outside of Ferguson to do that shit.

This is the thing to realize. People take up flags for other peoples problems, they fight in it's name, never actually tackling the problem. It's a lot of disgruntled youth looking to be heard. Pretty tragic how underrepresented huge swaths of our population are. No outlet or channel to work through.

"We're in the last days, man -- I truly in my heart believe that. It's written. I could go on with Biblical situations and things my grandma told me. But it's about being at peace with myself and making good with the people around me."

His junior album will have a lot of pieces to pick up...

I don't disagree completely with either Kendrick or Banks. The one thing I don't really understand is why whenever intracommunity strife gets called out by someone in the community everyone jumps to attack them, like its a bad thing to admit your community may have problem that are at least partially rooted from within. Seems like whenever that happens it's colored as sucking up to the white man but that's pretty narrow minded IMO.

I can name a ton of problems within my own community but that doesn't mean I'm giving the white man/power a slap on the wrist or whatever. That's where Banks loses me.

Because what Kendrick is saying doesn't hold weight in the context of racial discrimination.

Mumei posted this in the Lil Boosie thread awhile back and basically refutes the notion of rising, ongoing black on black crime.

Looters are a smaller subset of the protesters and Kendrick is only invalidating the movement's goal with some copout answer like 'you gotta respect who you are.'

Okay I read Kendrick's quote again and it's definitely more persecutive in nature. I don't think there is a causality link there, or equality can only be demanded if people respect each other. Equality should be demanded regardless.

It's the American narrative that so many people push. Black people have to "earn" it.

I think it has more to do with the fact that, in order for minority voices in America to be heard, they have to qualify their stance with some form of self-deprecation.

edit: even delineating social problems as belonging to certain communities and not others is a little disingenuous, imo

Definitely something you see perpetuated on Fox often, especially by Bill O'Reilly.

This is a very, very salient point that I hadn't considered before.

lauryn: kendrick, you must look within yourself, your ego must suffer death

kendrick: but how will i do that without the use of hardcore hallucinogens, while simultaneously speaking on behalf of the entire black community?

lauryn: take this key!

kendrick: what's this?

lauryn: take this key to erykah, she will know what to do

kendrick: but how will i kno--

lauryn: I said GO! your message must be spread by Q3!
