Needs more love. Damn. This would make Father Stretch My Hands actually listenable.
Black histori project 1 was incredibly dope, shame he never released a better mastered, higher bitrate version to my knowledge.i like the album, despite having arguably the worst set of Kanye verses of all time, but yeah he should have definitely put this on there.
i know we all joke about CyHi's irrelevancy, and it's true, but he really came through on MBDTF and he would have done so for this too.

Yeah, just watched it, lol.Beanie's interview on The Breakfast Club is hilarious. Charlamagne is a G haha.
Nas went IN. Great song.
Listened to the Solange album for the first time a few days ago and it was pretty smooth. Didn't really know her before outside of the Neptunes-produced Crush years ago.KAYTRANADA remixes Solange's Cranes in the Sky and Chance's All Night. Pretty dope.

The general manager of this operation, FAT Thomi, is a music-industry veteran who once ran hip-hop promotions for Arista Records. He explained what he believed to be Knight's appeal: "About seven years ago, I came to the realization that black rappers were going to be a thing of the past... I followed trends. And I watched more and more white rappers... I wanted somebody that was white 'cause it was unique, and it was still fresh and new to the industry." Although his forecast was flawed, FAT Thomi, who is black, stuck to his guns, and when he discovered Knight, he believed he had come across the artist he'd been searching for. "When I heard him and I heard his story, I believed it was the biggest thing in music 'cause he was putting the two biggest genres together yet to be put together."
Both sides of the aisle responded to Ford's early work with vitriol. Country purists were up in arms for what they saw as someone disrespecting the traditions of a sacred craft, with one blogger named Kyle Coroneos going as far as blacklisting anyone who had collaborated with him. Hip-hop fans thought it was exploitative to resell rap in whiteface, especially because this time the foundation of the genre seemed to have been uprooted. Instead of bringing southern slang to a rap audience, as artists like OutKast had done, they were appropriating rap and adapting it for a country crowd. A song like "Answer to No One," in which Ford proudly raps that he's a "shotgun toter, Republican voter," runs counter to hip-hop's roots as black-protest music, especially when it became the campaign anthem for Rick Perry. This is the same Rick Perry whose Texas hunting ranch was infamously called "Niggerhead." Now his name was being evoked in a rap song in which Ford changed his original lyrics, "Hank Junior supporter / let's protect our border" to "Rick Perry supporter / let's protect our border."
Just read a bit. Googled Colt Ford, lol 🌽🌽🌽
Coloring Book has some dope songs, but it's weird, I've never felt like listening to the whole thing. The upbeat / gospel vibe is a bit much after a while.Chance aint have an enjoyable album since acid rap. Damn shame people wanna ride that wave like it's good
lol, I've heard good things about it overall, may have to check it out.Btw, in case you haven't watch it yet
Our Top 10 lists in this thread are a very good way to find good albums. Especially HiResDes' lists.I am so out of rap albums this year. I have a good number of blogs and sites I visit for my other musical predilections but I can't find a really good site to keep up to date on my rap/hip-hop releases. If an album came out by an artist I follow then sure I know it but otherwise it's hard for me to discover new artists.
I just copped the new clipping. album and I think the last rap album before that I grabbed was Chance but was really disappointed in it because it had a ton of singing and the style of rap that I just really don't like from artists I don't care for. Found a lot of albums coming out by people I enjoy have let me down lately like Kanye, Bronson, Chance. Too much singing, too much of that laid back style that's a lot of repetition with little wordplay or flow. Just not a style I enjoy.
I'm having difficulty finding stuff similar to artists I enjoy like clipping., Joey Badass, Bishop Nehru, Blackalicious/Gift of Gab, El-P, Killer Mike, BLKHRTS, this is just random stuff I'm throwing out here. And I don't have a good place to follow to keep up to date with stuff like that.
