GAF, how much do you make?

IT consultant. 30 years old and I make over 6 figures. and I work from home.

To all the younger IT people out there, I was there making what you're making. If you want to make more get deeper knowledge in 1 to 3 more specialized technologies. Best thing I ever did.

I'm starting to hit the ceiling for my specific job title. I'm actually considering making a jump into accounting.

It's more about the job than the money. Unless you really enjoy accounting I'd likely stick with something I think is fun. Not like you aren't making anything.

So in other words, we got some rich people here on GAF

No, same as the setup thread, your going to have more people skewing the numbers because they are comfortable with their income because it's higher.

Most people replying are far above the average.

Its not just the fun part (I actually love accounting), its that my current job requires a lot of creativeness, as I'm getting older I'm finding it harder and harder to be as creatively inspired. What once was easy and fun is now much harder and requires a level of consintration and "work" that tends to kill the creative process (not talking about laziness, rather how easy new ideas flow). I feel my time in the field starting to cycle down and I want to have backup plans if I ever hit the point where I just cant be creative enough to support my everyday duties.

IT / Security for the FRB System. I live in the Midwest (Out side of STL) but work at all the Feds.

I just turned 38.

I make in the six figures (base $146k) . I do have to travel for work often. The money is good but the benefits are even better.

My family and I moved here from WA State. So our cost of living went way down and my and her income from work both more than doubled. My wife's base pay is $68k, and she works a block and a half away from me so we can have lunch together every day!

21, $11k/year

Student. I don't work during the semester. I get about 800€/month (child support (state&my dad), student support from Austria and Germany). If I work during summer break for 3 months I can make roughly $4k extra. I live at home + the education is free, so I can spend most of my money for stuff I enjoy :D

25 - +/- $250 a month as a Chef

Africa FTL i guess

Average rent here is $250 plus

So I still live with my parents and am going to study again next year

3rd times the charm I guess

26.000 euros a year, 37 years old, buyer.

I feel I could earn 5.000-7.000 more if I would switch companies, but so far I'm still too happy where I am right now.

Like 85k, 32 years old. That's NYC pay though so I don't take home nearly as much as you would think after taxes and expensive ass rent.

My wife and I make a combined 140k. I am a Web Assessment Team Lead and she's Human Resources. Age 28.

I make way less than her, but I don't mind. I work from home and we both enjoy the flexibility that comes with it. She comes home to a clean home and cooked dinner every night and it allows me to be home for people who need to do work here during the day (electricians, cable, home repair, etc).

Unempleoyed, but I do internet work

Probably around $200 monthly, but I don't live in the US. Stll, very low.

(yeah, I want to cry after seeing that amount.)

Just over 50k

I'm 39. Masters Degree in Chemical Engineering, 15 years experience.

Yep, you read that right. Because state employees don't deserve to be paid what they are worth, despite court rulings that pay shall be commensurate with education and experience.

What the hell dude. I got a ChemE degree and like two year experience. And I'm doing a solid amount better than that. What state?

$80-85k the past couple years. 37. College professor. Finance makes around $50k currently.

$50k a year
Irrigation Auditor / Engineer (degree in civil / environmental engineering)
29 years old
I am a US citizen (MA) working in Canada (ON) on a work visa.

I honestly can't wait to move home next year and make at least 50% more...

I'm a 31 year old attorney who runs his own firm (started two years ago). As the owner of a small business with one employee, my "salary" isn't fixed. However, I guess the best way to express it would be to say what my yearly net income (i.e. before taxes) is. Last year, it was $106,800. This year, I'm at $111,526 from Jan. 1 through Oct. 31, so it's looking to be a slight improvement.

Guess that article was spot on after all. Everyone ballin'

Had to take a pay cut after i was let go from my other job. 44k right now. Made 50k prior job.

Seeing IT people here making 6 figures and im certified making half that is soul crushing.

I'm 26, i work in Product Marketing making $72,000 base annually. I'm hoping to get to that 80-90K range in 3 years.

Back in 2011 i was making 30K and in 2012 i was making 40K. Gotta keep a lookout for new jobs when you feel underpaid.

31, my business (family) does around 3.5.-5 Million in gross revenue a year. I do get a weekly check and my salary is at 52k, but that's only because I take money from the company too when i need it.

EDIT - Actually people give me a hard time on this forum, so don't want to give ammo.

I'm just over 30 in sales.

I'm not rich, but I make a decent amount. I just don't want them to quote me to invalidate my comments when I talk about the things I like.

Unless youre like a crazy 1% that is like "everyone else is fucking lazy and needs to work hard like me" i doubt that would give people much ammo.

Granted seeing of these figures almost make me ill. Its almost as much luck as it is hard work. And seeing the posts that is becoming more clear than ever.

Between my wife and I, we bring home a bit more than $4,800 a month after taxes. Most of that is her and $1,300 goes to student loans a month. Still, pretty good. I'm 30, she's 29.

26 making around $70k/year working as a software developer. Got a new job recently that came with a big pay upgrade from the $40k I was making right out of graduation. NYC comes with a lot more expenses though.

Let's just say that you are getting a tax cut under Trudeau's new plan, so your "I am okay with the 1% being taxed as I am one of them so no hypocrisy here" isn't genuine anymore. Not that there is anything wrong (or right) with the new tax plan, but like most Canadians, you aren't negatively affected so it is easy for you to justify it. Personally, I'd rather see significant tax cuts for people with incomes less than 40k, but that's another debate.

So in other words, we got some rich people here on GAF

What do you consider rich? Dollar amount?

Some people live in places where rent/mortgages can be over 2-3k a month, so making 80K there might be the equivalent of making 40-50k elsewhere, as far as additional spending money.

$35,000 per year. I'm 24.

Granted, I live in Ohio - so I can stretch that 35 grand really far. I'm definitely hoping to find a new job soon though that pays at least 40k.

Wasn't there a study, or maybe just an article, in the last year or two that showed that most rich people don't believe they're rich? You're one of them!
