Well, I say we ride it out this year and any playoff changes need to be implemented for season 3. I'd actually argue the NFC factor in this case! It always extra competition for those of us lower in the standings to still play. If you want to implement one wild card you might as well just give the games away that me, DJ, and True play from now on as we are too far back.

That's ok though, you can hide behind the facade that only the teams with elite records should make it. Just makes it all the more apparent you don't want to play me in the first round.

I brought this issue up. I know that if we have two wildcards, it makes my division pointless. Unlike yours, there is a real race going on. I'm sorry if you are 3-6, but we shouldn't change the rules to allow that kind of record in the playoffs. Our rule has always been one wildcard per conference, EA just happens to not allow that. If my hands are tied and we have to have two wild cards, which is totally weak....the second wild card should face the number one overall seed in their conference. If they get in easy, it has to be very hard for them to advance to round two of the playoffs.


I realize that some people might think that more people in the playoffs is better, and maybe we should have a consolation playoff bracket or something, because 3-6 and 2-7 teams don't really strike me as teams competing for a wildcard spot in the legitimate playoffs.

You are the one who is changing the rules. Two division winners in, two wildcards. That is how season one went. That is how season two is going. EA glitch or not that has been the official guidelines and you are the one who wants to change it mid season. If this would have been discussed before the season started that's another story. You can't go changing things like this mid season. I guarantee if you were 3-6 too you wouldn't want this change to happen mid stream.

Anyway, like I said before, if you really are as good as advertised you'll wipe the floor with the number four seeed. But lets revolve the entire league around Fiftys division, that sounds like a better idea. And how exactly does the wild card make your division race worthless? It doesn't. You always go for the division title, but the wild card is an extra benefit.

P.S. The panthers were 1-7 at one time so that excuse is bunk

It makes our division nearly worthless because we have a tight race for the (intended) one wildcard spot, but with two there's a huge gap between us and the guy fighing for the second wildcard spot. It was like this last year only because EA interpreted it as two wild cards per conference, rather than two wildcards split amongst the two conferences. I talked to FMT and we intended it to be with one wildcard. Anyway, we'll do it. I'm confident that avoiding the number two seed (in my division) is enough of a reward for there to be something worth playing for still.

my punt returner flat out dropping a punt with absolutely the least amount of pressure from the kicking team that there was all game long. i guess there must be a daydreaming stat attached to the players that I wasnt aware of.

leftwich throwing a floater to Brady in quadruple coverage.......complete.

many instances where i read a blitz and ........omg its so hard to even explain how much BS some of these plays turned into. all I can say is a play that should have been wide open turned into an INT and I dont know why because the LB that was covering my TE blitzed and my TE was suppsed to run a flat route right off the LOS but instead he runs straight up the field directly into the safety that was coming down to cover him. i also had a RB come out of the backfield into the flat and was wide open only to see some LB or D lineman come zipping out of the pile that was the LOS to cover the play and tip the ball away.

If you think that the Brady stuff is garbage, WAIT until you play against Shockey again. :lol

What's worse is that Jason Witten is just THAT much better than Shockey and you can be doing the same thing. Honestly, I look at your gameplan and it's just a bit confusing to me. Granted, I've played exactly one game with the Cowboys but it was against a player that was using the Redskins incredibly well. Julius Jones and the O-Line were such an incredible combination. You're a very fundamental player, perhaps you should spice it up a bit. Counters, traps, and other misdirection plays would help you. Your fullback is pretty good, and your O-line is great. Jones is a great runner. As far as your passing game, you have Keyshawn Johnson and Jason Witten, two very legitimate threats. I still play you this season, so I won't offer anymore info. BTW Morgan is also pretty good in the game.

If you try to hit your TE before he breaks in any formation he will continue running the line he is on. And yeah, zone blitzes suck. Try lobbing the ball to RBs/FBs in the flats.

As for our playoff situation, I honestly don't want to make the call either way. On the one hand we do have a very very tight race going in our conference. It will get tighter once I take DM down tomorrow. Four spots would indeed kill the competition. But, I do want to make the playoffs, and we don;t have enough teams to have a competent bye system. I don't want to grant a team a bye so that they only have to win one game to make the superbowl. That's just ridiculous, imo.

Hey, I beat Bob without TO. Which brings me to my next point. I didn't play with TO because he is out but FMT told me that I could have just changed the depth chart to put him in. My question is, if a player is out then should we be able to use them? My personal feelings are that we don't use hurt players but I just wanted to see where everyone else stands?

Honestly this is ridiculous. The sheer amount of ridiculousness in games between DM and I is just ridiculous. I don't even want to type it anymore, but here is a perfect example of how the game went for me:

Yes. That is how ridiculous it was. I slung and slanged all game long, Eli making pinpoint accurate throws and my receivers coming up, predictably, with drops. Meanwhile DM was putting it into the arms of my DBs and LBs and they are obviously coached by the same guy my WRs are. DM wasn't getting much of anything so he had to resort to the deep outside post plays.

So I was driving, down by three, at my 35 or so with two time outs left and about 42 seconds. I'm sitting pretty if my passing performance in the game so far was any indication. I call a shotgun 3wr 2rb play hold in both rbs to block. Normally this would work against any defense ever, but oh no this is me and DM, something of epic bullshit proportions has to happen. Oh hey look my FB is expecting Brooks to attack through the ou-OH NO ELI UNDER FIRE, GOOD THING I PRESSED THE BUTTON BEFORE HE GOT CLO-OH A FLOATER TO MY WR EASY CA-OH SHIT INTERCEPTED. GAME OVER.

By the way my Strahan cheese only managed two sacks, while DM's legit play (paying off my O-Line and FB with cocaine and hookers) got him five.

I don't want to blame the team that I am using, but damned if I'm not close to doing so. Zero protection all game, shitty run blocking, my LBs getting crushed on blocks, and letting Alstott fall forward eight yards after tackling him for a two yard gain. Well, I went into this game without any kind of planning and still the same result. At least now I am confident I can improvise.

A real question though... how do you get under receivers? The outside post is nigh unstoppable with a crappy DB on the slot receiver. TEs easily catch anything thrown their way since there's nothing between them and the QB since the LB is behind him. I mean I have my own thing that I do and it works if I make the correct read, but, it basically nullifies my main defensive weapons. Fifty has seen it, I don't know if DM noticed it last game.

PS: Why, on a 3-4 2 Man Under does the TE get so fucking open?

The TE always gets open against average LBs. I lost against Dskillz, in maybe my worst game ever. Perhaps my mind wasn't in the game, but whatever, I lost. I actually got held up (allowing him a free sack) by my FB it was so ugly out there. I'll write an story, that story is titled:

My Defensive Backs are fucking useless

Once upon a time there was a team called the Indianapolis Colts. They had many great recievers and running backs. They were led by a jolly man named Peyton. Life was good in Indianapolis, until a group of 5 defensive backs came along. Now these men were bad men. These men were evil men. They acted under the pretense of "covering" recievers, when really they were plotting against the fine Colts, trying to make them lose.

These defensive backs, in man coverage, zone coverage, bump coverage....did nothing at all. If they "defended" a post, they'd get beat, a streaking play downfield? Beat. A curl? Well, let's just say the reciever had time to successfully jack off to a picture of Star Jones before the defensive back would do anything in response. If they were told to bump, they'd sensually masage the reciever for a second, only to then allow him free passage to wherever his destination was.

They knew not how to cover any of the game's wide recievers in single coverage, relying on Big Mr. Doss to help them out play after play, while the equally helpless linebacker let the tight end go free. God forbid the tight end were to run an out and the reciever a streak, for then the safety would have to choose which pass to allow, and which to deny. What dark days these were in the land of Indianapolis, during the reign of the defensive backs Years from now children will be told of their uselessness, only to shake their heads in disbelief.

You guys need to try zone blitzing. Works wonders for me. 3-4 Sky Fire Trio or whatever it's called in the Redskins playbook (not sure what other teams call it). My secret weapon. The right side blitz forces either a sack or a hurry, and the zone coverage can pull an INT or swat with relative ease. The weakness of this formation and play is Michael Vick--i.e., QB scrambling to the left is an easy 1st down.

I am glad I don't have to face DM anymore this season, sheesh. You guys realize that across Madden '04, ESPN NFL 2K5, and Madden '05 I have never beaten him? How sick is that? The last 5 or so meetings between us have been decided by three points or less. One went into OT.

The rest of the season will be interesting. I have to play an easy game with Bob (c'mon guys don't waste my time, just give me the win), and I have games against FMT and Gunstar that I am really looking forward too. It's always a good game with FMT, and I haven't played Gunstar in a long time. He was saying that the last time we played that he kicked my ass really badly. I don't remember it though, as I said I think I blacked it out. All I gotta do is finish in third or second in my conference and I'm good to go since either Matrix or Fifty can eliminate DM!

I kept passing out of stubbornness! :lol Every damn pass of man that got deflected would get knocked down by some super LB/CB/DB jump. So instead of running the ball, I was getting mad that players not even in position to make plays kept on making miraculous tips (leading to 3 of my 5 ints btw). So instead of running i stubbornly kept on passing. And the Falcons D kept on jumping 15 feet from side to side or jumping 15 feet in the air knocking my balls down. On my last int I had holt do a post to the outside, and he had the defenders burned for about 7-8 yards. I threw a lob over the both defenders and the hand of god touched the CB again as he lept like 20 feet into the air to tip the ball and knocked it into the hands of the DB sitting right next to the CB. After that I said screw it I'm just taking the loss! :lol Like I told Ramirez, I don't blame him. I blame Tiburon for implenting such a shoddy method of defense in this game. Madden 2005 doesn't have better D. It has D that cheats better than previous games.
