Only 5 days till I'm going to take a ton of photographies, which I'll also be sharing here, so hopefully I can get some feedback, like I got beforehand. If I upload photos during April/May, then none of them will be edited, as I won't have my software available.

Nice, this is a great capture.

Thanks! Was quite lucky with the lightning in our garden. I find it quite difficult to take a nice picture of our black cat (somehow most of the photos end up looking surreal)

I've not shot anything for a minute, but I've noticed that as the page gets into the 40-post range the content seems to taper off until a new page is started.

Will get this page started then... We went to Burgers Zoo to capture more types of animals today; quite happy with some results:

I love these. At some point I need to go to a zoo for some animal pics.

You should! It's a good way to spend some free time (and afterwards the joy of browsing through way too many photos :))

It really helped to finally have a 70-200mm lens (only owned wide angle lenses before). Really allows you to isolate the animals from the human-elements (fences, wires, ...).

Yeah I just got a 70-200 myself this week. I never thought I'd buy one but since I do event photography at work and the people at my job keep taking the camera equipment for personal projects I finally decided to buy my own. I found a good deal for mine and just couldn't not buy the damn thing. I should hit a zoo when I'm less busy and road test the shit out of it.

Thank you! It was all shot on my DJI Inspire using the stock camera. So much fun to fly, just wish I could scratch out more time for it... I have too many hobbies!

Been super duper busy the last month or so working shoots and building a company from scratch at the same time. I honestly haven't had time to really sit down and enjoy photography as a hobby instead of a gig... but I do have a couple of pics from the shoots I've been working.

They're kinda low res since I just pulled them off from the website.

Anyway, all those are shot using my Vivitar Series 1 28-90mm and I'm really really impressed at the quality I'm getting out of it. I usually carry a 50 prime just for when I really need it, but with the Vivitar, I've gotten to the point that I don't really need a extra lens in my bag. It's a magical piece of glass... I'm actually really considering on securing another copy lol.

Maybe I am missing it somewhere but I can't find any mention of where you are located on your website or what areas you service? It looks like an interesting business all the same.

So what's you guys opinion about composite images? Like for instance when you shoot a landscape, but then swap out the sky for a completely different sky possibly shot at a completely different time and place. I've noticed that it seems to be a growing trend. Or maybe it's just the photographers I follow on Instagram. I'm generally fine with it when it's disclosed, but I'm kinda concerned with it at the same time. I notice a lot of obvious composite images of the northern lights for example, and it rubs me the wrong way since a lot of people that don't live up in the north will think those pictures are real if you don't explicitly state that it's not.
I don't know if it's just me that is a bit old school about this ?

I don't have a problem with any image manipulation as long as it isn't being used for journalistic purposes. Your photos are stunning, if someone else is skilled enough to create similar images to yours using different techniques I don't have a problem with it personally. Unless you feel they are deliberately trying to deceive people or something?

Count me as not a fan of that kind of image composite - it's not wrong in most cases (the journalistic example given for instance), but I look at a photograph as a representation of an existing thing so it doesn't sit right.

Composites are fine as long as they're still grounded in reality.

But what really sets it apart is how the photographer showcases the picture, if he says it's all natural and it clearly isn't, then I'm probably not gonna pay attention to any future work. But if he outright says it's a composite, then that's great, keep posting lol.

We're in the DFW area and pretty much go anywhere as I believe travel is gonna be covered by the clients.

Good to know you found it interesting actually. I can't share a majority of the details yet as we're literally building everything from the ground up.

I'll add our location to the website when I get to the office in a few hours lol.

I only don't like it when it's like "I took some photos at a wedding recently" and there's a picture of the bride and groom with a stunning Milky Way above the wedding party. I've spent enough time fighting with man-made light to know that a bright wedding party is going to ruin your chance of taking a Milky Way shot. Or clearly it's not the time of year where the galactic core is visible and you just took this shot last week. I don't like it when a composite shot insults my intelligence.

I have no problem if it's a composite of an exposure for the sky and a separate exposure for the foreground. Or like the star trails photo I did above.

Just got a EOS 80D. Really liking it, the low light performance is good (for a Canon, way better than my entry level T5i)

First shot with it (EF-S 55-250mm F4-5.6 lens)

Image compression sucks

I don't like it. Makes me laugh especially when people put in some huge-ass full moon that looks fake as hell and people all comment on it like its some amazing and real thing. I like my images without too much manipulation personally.

I did see some photos that were manually composited the other day that were really cool though, trippy shit, buildings and rivers and stuff all mixed together. I'll have to try to find a link. I wouldn't necessarily consider it photography though it's more like some mixed medium.

One of the photographers I follow that made me think about this issue: https://www.instagram.com/wouter.boer/

As you can see he has lately started posting some before/after shots and in some cases the sky has been completely replaced and the entire tone/mood of the shot changed. In the first before/after he posted, he explained his process and how he has a "big library with all sorts of skies". From what I've seen, he has never before mentioned that any of his photos are created this way. I'm still amazed at his work since it looks natural and beautiful, but even if it's still grounded in reality it crosses into digital art for me. And that is fine really, I just like it when you are upfront about it.

Definitely, I'm fine with techniques like that (gorgous startrail photo btw). Basically any technique that is still about capturing a scene is fine by me. It becomes more of a grey area when too much of the scene is digitally created, that's when I question whether it can really be called photography anymore.

Widest I have is 16mm (the 16-35 f/2.8L). At those focal lengths it's amazing how much extra you get in with a couple of extra millimetres.

There any kind of 90mm macro you can get?
There is, but the macro I'm planning on getting is a 60mm 2:1 macro lens. This wasn't meant to be a macro shot though, just a wide angle shot. I tried a few others (none were good enough to keep) where I was having to hold my hand underneath the camera to make sure I didn't get it in the water trying to get closer to the subjects.
Actually dunno about 90mm exactly but there was a 100mm macro. However the DOF on that would be abyssmally small, even at F11 on my 50mm it can be really tough to get the DoF wide enough to cover anything.

EDIT: There is actually a 14mm macro lens made by the same company that produces the 2:1 I'm going to get, but I've heard it's an incredibly difficult lens to use, since the subjects basically HAVE to touch the front element.

Are you on full frame? That as well makes a HUGE difference. This lens on my a6000 is a totally different lens than on my a7, even more so than like a 50mm. But even then, on my a6000 it's a lot wider than the 16mm kit lens as well so :V

I have the Tokina 11-16mm and can't wait to try it out next week. Planing to do a long exposure of the NYC skyline

This lens is quite popular

What's the company? I know Nikon makes a 2.8 60 macro that's supposed to be really good.

Yeah, 5DIII. A friend and I compared the wide end of our 24-105L (he's on a 7D) and it's amazing what a difference the crop makes.

Went outside today for some landscape/nature photography...

But instead ran into an automobile club with only old Triumph-branded oldtimers (Club Triumph Holland). Ended up making photographs for them of the contestants at the "starting line". Apparantly I walked into an annual race :)

Not really how I expected my day to turn out.. But still.. Fun stuff!

I like stuff like this, love the chaos.

Thanks man, saw yours up there too that's kind of why I posted this one haha. I like messing around with camera movement during long exposures. This is one I took in Bangkok a few months ago not sure if I posted it before, but similar to yours a bit.

I haven't. Been doing other stuff partially because I don't really like shooting the stuff that's in my area.

Cat died a few hours ago. Last shots I got of him.

Sorry about the loss of your cat, that really sucks. I only get to see my dog once or twice each year these days... he's about 14 now. Every time I am home I hope that it isn't the last time I see that guy. Your cat looked really interesting too, you cropped his ears or that's how that breed comes?
