This thread has slowed down a lot in recent days? No one is out shooting?
Nice, this is a great capture.
I've not shot anything for a minute, but I've noticed that as the page gets into the 40-post range the content seems to taper off until a new page is started.
I love these. At some point I need to go to a zoo for some animal pics. Will get this page started then... We went to Burgers Zoo to capture more types of animals today; quite happy with some results:

Yeah I just got a 70-200 myself this week. I never thought I'd buy one but since I do event photography at work and the people at my job keep taking the camera equipment for personal projects I finally decided to buy my own. I found a good deal for mine and just couldn't not buy the damn thing. I should hit a zoo when I'm less busy and road test the shit out of it.You should! It's a good way to spend some free time (and afterwards the joy of browsing through way too many photos)
It really helped to finally have a 70-200mm lens (only owned wide angle lenses before). Really allows you to isolate the animals from the human-elements (fences, wires, ...).
Here's the video version of photos I posted back in February/March (during my California work trip). I was thinking over the weekend, "when the hell am I ever gonna do anything with the footage I shoot."
So I did something.

Been super duper busy the last month or so working shoots and building a company from scratch at the same time. I honestly haven't had time to really sit down and enjoy photography as a hobby instead of a gig... but I do have a couple of pics from the shoots I've been working.
They're kinda low res since I just pulled them off from the website.
Anyway, all those are shot using my Vivitar Series 1 28-90mm and I'm really really impressed at the quality I'm getting out of it. I usually carry a 50 prime just for when I really need it, but with the Vivitar, I've gotten to the point that I don't really need a extra lens in my bag. It's a magical piece of glass... I'm actually really considering on securing another copy lol.
I don't have a problem with any image manipulation as long as it isn't being used for journalistic purposes. Your photos are stunning, if someone else is skilled enough to create similar images to yours using different techniques I don't have a problem with it personally. Unless you feel they are deliberately trying to deceive people or something? Two nights ago:
So what's you guys opinion about composite images? Like for instance when you shoot a landscape, but then swap out the sky for a completely different sky possibly shot at a completely different time and place. I've noticed that it seems to be a growing trend. Or maybe it's just the photographers I follow on Instagram. I'm generally fine with it when it's disclosed, but I'm kinda concerned with it at the same time. I notice a lot of obvious composite images of the northern lights for example, and it rubs me the wrong way since a lot of people that don't live up in the north will think those pictures are real if you don't explicitly state that it's not.
I don't know if it's just me that is a bit old school about this ?
Maybe I am missing it somewhere but I can't find any mention of where you are located on your website or what areas you service? It looks like an interesting business all the same.

One of the photographers I follow that made me think about this issue: https://www.instagram.com/wouter.boer/Composites are fine as long as they're still grounded in reality.
But what really sets it apart is how the photographer showcases the picture, if he says it's all natural and it clearly isn't, then I'm probably not gonna pay attention to any future work. But if he outright says it's a composite, then that's great, keep posting lol.
Definitely, I'm fine with techniques like that (gorgous startrail photo btw). Basically any technique that is still about capturing a scene is fine by me. It becomes more of a grey area when too much of the scene is digitally created, that's when I question whether it can really be called photography anymore.I have no problem if it's a composite of an exposure for the sky and a separate exposure for the foreground. Or like the star trails photo I did above.
Love this,
Love this,
Wide angle lenses: No, you aren't close enough.
There any kind of 90mm macro you can get? Thanks! I actually have a behind the scenes shot!

There is, but the macro I'm planning on getting is a 60mm 2:1 macro lens. This wasn't meant to be a macro shot though, just a wide angle shot. I tried a few others (none were good enough to keep) where I was having to hold my hand underneath the camera to make sure I didn't get it in the water trying to get closer to the subjects. There any kind of 90mm macro you can get?
^_^
Widest I have is 16mm (the 16-35 f/2.8L). At those focal lengths it's amazing how much extra you get in with a couple of extra millimetres.

What's the company? I know Nikon makes a 2.8 60 macro that's supposed to be really good. There is, but the macro I'm planning on getting is a 60mm 2:1 macro lens. Actually dunno about 90mm exactly but there was a 100mm macro. However the DOF on that would be abyssmally small, even at F11 on my 50mm it can be really tough to get the DoF wide enough to cover anything.

Well that's an interesting lens. I have a macro lens "budget" since I barely do macro, but for you, it's perfect.http://www.venuslens.net/product/venus-v-dx-60mm-f2-8-ultra-macro-lens/
It gets the Tom Shahan seal of approval. And if *he* likes it, it's the best one out there.
It's "only" APSC, but really that just means that when focusing at infinity on full frame, there's some vignetting.
Yeah, 5DIII. A friend and I compared the wide end of our 24-105L (he's on a 7D) and it's amazing what a difference the crop makes. Are you on full frame? That as well makes a HUGE difference. This lens on my a6000 is a totally different lens than on my a7, even more so than like a 50mm. But even then, on my a6000 it's a lot wider than the 16mm kit lens as well so :V
Well that's an interesting way to take a picture.Fëanorian;201139344 said:Indeed hand held while driving.
