Life has been a bit chaotic but I've continued to study as much as possible and shoot when I can. I've done a couple jobs recently and have an engagement shoot coming up.

One of the reasons why I have been busy with other things is due to my wife and I finding out we are having a kid in October. We finally announced it to everyone yesterday by doing a Labyrinth inspired photoshoot since the baby is supposed to be the size of a peach right now and because our wedding was also based on Labyrinth. My wife did the makeup and I did the lighting, framing and making sure everything was in focus for each shot. It might have been a little easier using someone to shoot the photos but my tripod and remote control ended up working fine.

Congratulations hope you are prepared for that. I heard engagement shoots are fine, the wedding stuff I heard can be a nightmare.

Went shooting again...

Here's a quick and dirty composite of about 12 ~2.5 sec exposures from tonight. I set up in the parking lot outside my apartment and just let it shoot for a few minutes. Fun!

Somehow I didn't even think of using long exposures to get lightning. That's cool! I'll have to try that sometime.

EDIT: Guys save me from the pain of clearing ~110GB of photos off my hard drive. &_&

How does one make that money?

Go to a couple different universities and film schools and build up some strong contacts that marginally outweigh the mountain of debt you're likely to gain hahaha. It took several years to break in, but it's worth it. Just talk to people and be halfway likable and shit starts moving.

A couple photos from last night following the completion of play:

You are getting one hell of a death stare from that little girl's dad in the first picture.

These are great, look like something you would see on a postcard, back when postcards were still a thing that existed.

I've gotten that from moms and dads alike. When you're using a big ass lenses it's hard to go unnoticed. Happens regardless of what I use though.

I need a set of business cards already.

Really nice shots, is that Muir Woods? Or a different similar park

Thanks!

The redwood forest I went to was the The Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park. They have a redwood grove that has about a 1.5 or 2 mile loop with monster 300 foot trees everywhere you turn. The one of my wife and daughter was literally the only place I could get far enough away from a redwood to get a decent shot.

The whole experience was magical to me. Watching my daughter run around and play made me think of a Disney movie.

I will definitely go back. My wife and I are already planning a long roadtrip through California for 2018 and John Muir Woods is already on the list of things we will do.

Get a wide angle lens and you'll never have that problem again. In fact, you'll have the opposite problem!

I'm getting one for my trip to the Grand Canyon in September! I'm really excited!

Be *reeeeeeaaaaalllllyyyyy* careful about that. If you go too wide, you may find yourself walking off the edge trying to get closer for the framing you want. If at all possible get a wide zoom haha.

EDIT: So usually, when one of my photos randomly just jumps to like 200+ views (most of my photos are in like, the 40-50 views, depending on subject), it can usually be attributed to a key word in the photo's title that draws perverts. "Naked Lady" (It's a bronze statue of a lady that is naked, but no details). "Cock Cannon" (A lego mech with a conspiciously placed artillery cannon). And we have my third randomly really high view photo, "Amputee".

Am I drawing some *really* weird fetishes guys?

I never posted this even though I took it like a month ago. Despite being pretty much just a picture of a dirty windshield I still really like it for some reason.

So I posted the other day that I wasn't feeling so inspired lately and that I would change it up and take out a different lens next time I went for a walk/taking pics. Not only that but I let me friend (the girl in the photos) do the editing in Lightroom. Her first time using it. These two things combined IMO give my pictures a different look from what I usually post, I wouldn't have gone as crazy on the vignetting and contrast as she did that's for sure. But it was still kind of fun to back off the process a bit and give myself a new perspective. The different focal length on the lens helped a lot too for that. Here's a few:

This building had a devastating fire a few years ago. No one lives here now but it's still standing and kind of cool to look at. Just a grey concrete block in the middle of Shanghai:

Well that right there is an interestng choice in lens for street photography.
I do my retouching using this technique.

Did my first concert shoot this weekend, and damn it's hard as nails...

Is there a way to find out how people are finding a picture of yours on Flickr? I woke up to my phone buzzing in the middle of the night and this photo having 100+ likes and thousands of views which is about 100+ likes and thousands of views more than any other picture I've ever taken has gotten.

How the hell does a person get their picture in the "explore" section?

I'd probably never get to Explore personally
because Flickr isn't the target demo for racy anime babezzzzz
, so that's really awesome for you! I'd expect to see a bump in photo views too, since there is no doubt been people who are going to see what else you've taken.

I'm up in New Orleans right now for the Collision conference. Got some pics inside the conference itself but not a lot since I'm here for work and all that.

I'm headed back there right now so there'll be more pics since I'll actually be walking the entire floor this time unlike yesterday where I was stuck on our booth lol.

I need to learn how to just shoot for my enjoyment at events for a few minutes. My job got all my best stuff.

Yep. Most of the pics I took yesterday are of our booth talking to potential clients and investors so those are definitely not gonna go on my own. But I'm gonna be here for enjoyment the next 2 days so I'm definitely shooting for fun now.

I'm in NOLA to, but for the golf tournament.

Sweet! Up to when are you here?

Yeah that's cool, it's always fun shooting for fun. Though anything and I do mean anything is better than wasting away in an office. I hope I get sent out on something soon.

Finally got a day off with nothing to do but go out and take some pictures and what does it do? SNOW!!! It's nearly May for crying out loud :'(

This was ten minutes later, just mental how quick the weather changed.

Both shots are taken on my Bronica ETRS with the 40mm f4 on Rollei Superpan 200 and processed in Kodak Tmax Dev 1-4 ratio for 8 mins @ 20c

I've been away from this thread for a while. Time to make a comeback!

High Res on 500px.

my improvised home studio and my improvised black pain on my bf's face with my dresses around his face. I am quite happy with my improvisation skills lol.

I'm playing around with greed and red lights, because they're just amazing.
