Finally Feierabend and now it's pouring outside. Jesus.

Speaking of weather, where is our Mexican friend? Did FrenchGAF get him after all?

So you live in Hamburg too? Should grab a beer someday.

As for TheFeedingHand, his last post in here coincided with the CL final. Who can blame him, I mean I hate Germany too for letting Bayern exist.

Hamburg? Far from it. I'd still like to grab a beer with you.

My mum always said I am an oven.

That could also be because of the smoking.

I have a 32" 720p TV from 2005 and no real desire to buy a new one.

Okay, that's a lie, I really want a new 50 or 55" TV, simply because my current Samsung looks kinda small in my new apartment. But I need the money for other things first (like finishing said apartment), so I can't really get out and buy one. I'd probably still spend less than 1,000, because TV isn't important to me. I stopped watching live TV in 2006 and only watch the occasional movie these days. But yeah, it just looks so fucking small and it's bugging me.

Can we talk about TV fo another second. Are you guys saving up to get one or what? I feel so inadequat here.

I saved money and split the cost and it is something "important" to me. I don't have a car, my last holiday trip was 10 years ago, ... so I guess it is a matter of personal importance.

I have a LG 40 (?) inch Full HD TV. It's not the newest TV around, but all it does, it does really well.

Not that expensive either at the time, can't really remember what I payed for it though.

I paid €250 for a 32" Toshiba TV a few years ago. It's still good enough for me. If I had to buy one today I'd probably get something like this.

EDIT: Maybe not that particular model seeing as it's only "HD ready". But there should be a Full HD one for around that price somewhere.

That's my tv

It's from Tschibo. But wait, it get's even cheaper. My sister in law gave it to me cause she worked at Tschibo's purchasing department.

I reckon it is a matter of preferances. I just couldn't spent more than 600 bucks on it. My brother got a pretty huge 3D set recently and I couldn't stop calling him out for it. All in jest of course. If he enjoys it, good on him.

I'd rather spend my money on those Thonet "Freischwinger" chairs Glam!!!

I probably won't come around getting an HD TV some day. I just don't feel comfortable spending 500€ on a TV. I'm also still using a regular cellphone, same issue.

I will laugh at you modern people when the smartphones become sentient and turn against their owners. Well, at least those few minutes before I realize I'm also screwed.
You could just use a PC monitor, but I don't know how much you like your comfy couch and all that.

Was? SDTVs and regular phones still exist in Germany? Wie bitte?

Germany is very backwards when it comes to adapting new technologies. Not as bad as Italy, but still pretty bad.

This is so true! My parents didn't get a CD player until the mid 1990s. And then they get some quality shit that lasts forever. Kinda like that anti consumerism stance though.

And I am the same, I haven't even really considered HD. Like at all. I don't know if my tv could potentially do it. I am such an easy Nintendo bait.

Consumers being slow on adapting new things is one side, but when companies aren't giving them any incentive, that's another. Didn't the German state TV broadcast in HD for the first time in 2006 during the World Cup and even then only in 720p?

It's funny to me how Germany's success is reliant on technological superiority, yet Germans are so sceptical towards just about every technical innovation.

It´s made really hard for the consumer to switch to HD TV in Germany right now.

One would be via satellite (fuck no) and the other two come with an internet contract.
At least in Düsseldorf (schönste Stadt am Rhein) where UnityMedia is holding basic cable hostage and wants you to get one of their boxes.

No way to get SKY HD via cable in Düsseldorf - and since soccer would be the only reason for me to go HD I´m out of luck.
