Well, that's more the way the sentence is set up, the "Ich habe mir...". That sounds a bit like "I've cut my finger". You'd say "Ich habe meinen Kuchen geschnitten".

But who knows, Austrians are weird. Maybe they have that as a slang word.

Yea! It was weird!

Because then everyone was like "Well how would you say it?"
And she said "I'd just say 'Ich habe ihn geschnitten."

And then we were like "I thought we were supposed to be using the reflexive"

And then she was like "Moving on"

1.) I'm from the most western part of austria, been living in the southeast, where I studied human anatomy, for almost ten years now and I dare saying that I banged my way through every other Bundesland we have. Never have I heard of a body part called "Kuchen".

2.) IMO even "den Kuchen schneiden" sounds odd. "Anschneiden", yeah - but simply "Kuchen schneiden"? :/

Okay, so that all cleared stuff up. To stick with the home team, I'm going to have to support FC Nuremberg or Bayern Munich. Nuremberg is closer and it looks like Bayern is the Patriots of the Bundesliga, so....

Bayern their current coach is a stupid fucking cunt. Stupid fucking asshole always buys the best players around the world, then wins shit and suddenly he's a coaching god.

The main competitors in the Bundesliga last year were Dortmund and Bayern. This year Bayern bought Mario Gotze, arguably Dortmund their best player and they will probably sign Robert Lewandowski, another Dortmund superstar, as a free agent within the year.

Arjen Robben, Dutch superstar/Bald Rolemodel/Champions League legend, is the only good thing about Bayern, but there is hope that he will leave that terrible club.

Anyways, even though you don't root for them, you should try to get tickets to a Borrusia Dortmund home game. The atmosphere there is amazing, they have this part of the Stadium Called The Gelbe Wand or something which is like 15000 guys singing and screaming. It's like college football, but a 100 times better.

Are you calling me a liar, punk?

He's right though. Can't vouch for the first part since I'm not Austrian, but the second would make more sense.

Just gonna quote myself here:
He probably said "Ich hab mir in den Kuchen geschnitten" after taking the assignment a little too literally. That structure would work with "Finger" or other body parts with masculine genus, which is why she said it sounds like he cut into a body part.

Just no. I don't want to use my imagination on that. Is this real?

But apart from our dear leaders, I actually like France ;)
Shame my French isn't really up to the task.

Most of my friends that are soccer fans watch maybe 25% of their team's Bundesliga games and 100% of their CL games. And that doesn't even include CL games that don't even feature their team.
Sounds to me like event/entertainment fans... Bundesliga is the most important contest for all the fans of teams which are not more or less guaranteed to get into an international league every year (i.e. all except Dortmund, Bayern and maybe Schalke and Bayer).

Outsider for life! I cannot stand football, so booring!

I played quite a bit as a kid, although I mostly sucked. I stopped when I grew older, just like I did with watching and following.

I also got bored of Formula 1 when I grew older.

When I was in my late teens, I assumed I'd just never be a real sports fan again. Then I discovered the beauty of American Football.

That's one of the few sports I absolutely don't get. I watched the most recent Super Bowl with an American exchange student and was bored to death. There's just nothing happening most of the time. Commercials, breaks, something else. The actual play time seems to be limited to maybe 20 minutes and the whole thing took multiple hours. I'm sure regular games don't have as much of a spectacle built around but the breaks all the time were really annoying. It seems to be a sport built around the idea of pleasing advertisers.

Different for adults, but as a not playing football kid, you're an outsider.

Never played football myself in a club, but saw all the advantages my friends gained: stories to tell, muscles to built, penis comparisons, impress girls with your goal performance, make friends easily with other football guys, etc.

But football in general is so boring - World Cup is an execption. And this outsider thing changes when you grow older, start thinking about socialisaton, group dynamics, and how "panem et circenses" is endorsed by governments.

Eventually you find another sport without foolish hordes of mob, shouting, fighting, beating each other and start to enjoy life.

WTF?

I think we talked about this at some point, but now that it's getting cold again, I notice it more and more.

So many people in Jack Wolfskine jackets, goddamn.

Well, I've always watched it with either friends or GAF. The breaks give you time to talk, which is half the fun. You can also catch up on other games.

The thing is, soccer (I'm using this word for easier distinction) may have more flow, but it can also get absolutely get stuck around midfield. With football, they HAVE to go forwards, or they'll lose the ball. And every play ends with either a score or a hit. I like that.

I also like that the complexity is more obvious. You have to really dive into soccer to see the complexity behind the simple rules; the tactical differences are non-obvious, the differences between positions are mostly negligible. If you're not a die-hard or play yourself, it's hard for me to see it as little more than a gussied up kids game.

I was a soccer fan for longer than I've been a football fan. But I don't think football will lose me the way soccer did.

That's my opinion as a former soccer fan ;-)

I wouldn't consider myself a fan of soccer either, I like Handball a lot, though. Used to play myself. Never got into soccer and I'm only interested in the bigger games. I can definitely understand what you said about soccer, I usually don't find it particularly interesting either. ;)

I know it's ridiculous. I really like their jackets but fuck if I'm going to buy one. Fucking students and old people.

My coat is London Fog and I'm trying to get to Weiden and/Rothenburg ob der Tauber (SHUT UP I'M NEW HERE). The DB is sort of hieroglyphics.

Bitte helfen?

I... what?

Yeah, it was meant to be funny. I am not a hilarious man.

So where are you starting from?

And sorry for this slightly stupid question, but you tried the English version of the DB web site?

I have. I think I've figured some rudimentary things out. I'm leaving from Grafenwoehr, and I'd like to return in the same day.

What I'm running into, and I think it's due to an error on my part is that the earliest I can depart from Graf is 07:07 and then I arrive at Nuremberg around 10:00. Then I'd have to get back on the last departure from Nuremberg at 14:30. That doesn't leave me a whole lot of time.

Now, I think there are multiple pickup places in Graf, but I don't know how to look those up.

Any help would be appreciated.

Looking around a bit on the website, it actually sounds like they close everything down on weekends. Can't find any connection from Nuremberg to Grafenwöhr after Saturday, 14:36. None on Sunday.

And why is your garrison's website giving me security certificate warnings when I try to poke around to see if they have any tips.

If your train connection situation actually is that bad, I'm sure someone on your base would know about it? Is there no one you could ask?

So you're trying to go from Grafenwöhr to Rothenburg ob der Tauber, correct?

Man, that seems to be the worst connection by public transport I've ever seen. Five changeovers, that's madness. Also, with changeover times of about five minutes, you'll probably miss some of them.

For a start, Grafenwöhr doesn't seem to have a train station despite rails going through it and having a fucking street called "Train station street". Probably a train station that's no longer in use.

I'm sorry, but it doesn't seem to be particularly easy to go your way by train. At least that's the only thing I found.

Okay, so that IS unusual. The American guys here don't seem to know shit about going to places that aren't the bars directly off base and the locals all live in Graf. The cab driver I had yesterday hasn't even been out of Bavaria.

Ever.

The Bahnhofstraße is confusing. I looked up the train station and it seems like it's only used for military purposes now.

I think that's correct. Freihung is close by, but for some reason you can't buy those tickets online? Weiden is the next closest non-artarded route.

Looks like I'll have to taxi to Weiden, the take the RE to Nuremberg. I think that's correct.
