The other Germanic languages are fairly easy to make sense of if you seem them written down, at least compared to any other language family. The bigger your vocabulary in any one of them the easier it's going to get.
Spoken language is a whole other ball game though you would probably need less practice to get accustomed to it even then.
Coming from English would make it most difficult though, in either case. English absorbed a lot more Latin and French words into common vernacular (see?).
