Semester beginnt gut, gerade ne Mail bekommen

Well, it seems like we disagree on this point completely as I wouldn't call it annexation.

There's so much rumor and unverified information circulating that it's hard to say if Russia dispatched special forces squads or if those are 'just' pro russia Ukraine militia. Also very foggy information about the 'deadly force'. This is what I would like to know by media instead of biased articles or pointless live tickers.

Also, what I find quite interesting, is the point that the 'new' Ukrainian government is already making major deals with Europe/US instead of waiting until the election in May to have 'real' legitimacy.

They had an agreement to station troops in a naval base in Sevastopol, which is not Crimea.

Absorbing territory into a country is annexation regardless of means.It's not biased language, it's correct terminology. Also, militias don't use Russian spec ops gear and drive Russian military vehicles. This is not a mystery.

Hi GermanGAF, any Berliners here? I will be visiting in a few weeks and I want to book a hotel in a convenient location.
I would prefer a kinda crowded let's say area with many choices when it comes to bars/pubs/food/coffee places etc and for the rest (sightseeing etc) I can always use public transportation (and I will need it a lot actually, as Berlin seems to be pretty huge).

Any suggestions?

I have found a hostel in Mitte, 5' walk from Alexanderplatz. Should I stick with it? The location seems perfect, but many places that I read about in guides are in Kreuzberg, Charlottenburg etc.

If you want to max out the bar density search for a hostel in Kreuzberg or Friedrichshein. Public transportation is great, usually you'll be everywhere you want to be within 20-30 min.

If you happen to find a hostel in Neukölln be aware that the southern part of the line U8 is out of order until "Summer 2014" whatever this means exactly...

I stayed near Alexanderplatz at the EastSeven. It was fantastic. I can't speak for the bar scene though since I don't drink. I walked down past the Brandenburg gate area several times, and if you want to take trains you can obviously go much farther than that.

Lustig, ich habe mir vor nicht mal 5 Minuten vorgestellt, wie man sich in Deutschland über sowas wieder aufregt. "Oh Gott, jetzt bekommt Facebook noch mehr Daten über mich und kann jetzt auch sehen, welche VR-Pornos und Spiele ich mir ansehe und spiele!!111 */brb, Google Now hat mich gerade über was benachrichtigt*".

Ich sehe das Problem wirklich nicht.

Wenn ich so was lese frage ich mich als erstes: was läuft bei Oculus schief, dass sie jetzt schon verkaufen?
Zugegeben, ich hab diesmal nur die Schlagzeile gelesen, aber wenn ich gerade DAS VR-Gerät entwickle, verkaufe ich doch nicht in der Endphase der Entwicklung?

EDIT: ob das Sony-Projekt was damit zu tun hat? Gab's davon schon 'ne Demo?

Ich selbst war schon ziemlich von der Schlagzeile überrascht. Nach den Videos und Interviews vom DK2 launch hatte ich eher den Eindruck, als würde man nicht verkaufen wollen. Bei nur 2 milliarden hätte ich da wirklich eher mit Microsoft oder Nvidia gerechnet.

Wenn es darum geht, dann hätte es den Laden schlimmer treffen können, wie ich finde. Lieber Facebook als Google (unterscheidet man da noch?) und lieber Facebook als Nintendo.

Instagram ist immer noch relativ eigenständig und ich erwarte das selbe von WhatsApp und nun auch Oculus VR. Meine schlimmste Erwartung ist, dass FB den Google Glass competitor den Vorzug gibt und das Rift damit ins hintertreffen geraten wird. Solange der software support für andere Entwickler jedoch gleich bleibt, sehe ich da jetzt kein großes Problem.

Ist das normal, dass ich die Inhalte der Threads im Off-Topic Bereich Stunden/Tage/Wochen später auf bild.de sehe? (Beispiel: Riesenratte, das eine komische Spiel, wo man die Zahlen verschieben muss, um 2048 rauszubekommen, etc.)

Oder surfe ich zuviel auf bild.de?

Alexanderplatz is terrible for bars and restaurants and for sightseeing too. If you're staying in Mitte you should be somewhere around Rosenthaler Platz, Torstraße or Kastanienallee.

Deutsch konnten hier früher nur die Nutten und die JVA Beamten (ich wohne wahlweise zwischen Bezirksgericht und dem größten Laufhaus der Stadt, oder dem schäbigsten Swingerclub und dem zweitgrößten Gefängnis des Staats).
Eingezogen sind streitlustige Gemeindebauhelden, die depperter als ihr Bier sind. Könnte aber noch lustig werden, wenn sie mit der spießbürgerlichen Alten zusammentreffen, die mir mal mit der Polizei gedroht hat, weil ich meinen Rettungswagen kurz in der Einfahrt abgestellt hatte.

Years of experience in EMS. At one point I thought about writing a "M" rated tourist guide. Buy you're weapons here, get the best weed there, don't mess wih the hookers in that street and whatever you do - stay away from the "Cafe-Pub Delphin".

I'm going to miss Conan City.

Happy End has to be a close second place...

The city changed a lot in the last few years and turning more and more into a Großstadt for Bauernschädel. Basicly a small Vienna 2 without the advantages (limitless spending by the socialist party).
