Hello Deutsch-GAF, can anyone kindly help me translate something into German? We have this message appear in our free app on start-up. The other episodes are free but a separate download to reduce the app's initial download size. If you can help I would be super grateful!

Would be my take on it.

Use "Sie können" instead of "Du kannst" if you want to be formal. You can also replace "Episode" with "Folge", both mean the same thing and are both commonly used, but I personally like "Folge" in german more. I am also not sure about using Episode 1 in both sentences, but you may wanna drive the point in, that Episode 1 is there.

Thank you! We are using Episode/Episoden elsewhere in our app so I will stick with that for consistency. Thanks again, Chariot!

"Episode 1 ist bereits im App-Download enthalten. Alle weiteren Episoden können im Hintergrund heruntergeladen werden."

Would be my less literal take on it if you want to have more options to choose from :) also I'm not sure if we're talking about TV episodes or game episodes (TellTale-esque), so I chose to make it neutral.

I have some vacation days coming up over the holidays and it's about time I buy a current-gen console, but so far I still haven't found an offer I liked even after all the cyber monday sales.

So Amazon sells an Xbox One for 333 Euros to Prime members? Fuck that. I want the One with Kinect and Forza Horizon 2 for 450 (similar to the previous Titalfall bundles). At 333 Euros for the box, you'd still need 130 Euros for Kinect and 50 for the game.

I almost bought a Playstation 4 bundle recently. It was a pretty good deal, but it come with a bunch of stuff I really don't need. Today there's a relatively good deal for the Playstation with Last of Us, Drive Club, and Little Big Planet 3, but don't need the latter two games.

Still regret not buying the recent Wii U + Mario Kart bundle (especially now after seeing the new Zelda video).

The price is right, but it contains no less than four (!) games I couldn't care less about. Re-selling the games would be too much of a pain in the ass.

Tja, und die Jurassic Park/World Leute haben sich halt dagegen entscheiden. Pech. Kein Grund jede Jurassic Park/World Diskussion penetrant kaputt zu nerven.
Oder meckerst du auch, dass bei Star Wars Leute im Weltall stehen können, ohne zu zerplatzen und zu ersticken?

Star Wars ist kein wirklich guter Vergleich. Jurassic Park war nicht nur ein guter Actionfilm, sondern hat sich die Mühe gemacht, Dinosaurier weitestgehend nach den damaligen Erkenntnissen darzustellen (bis auf den "T-Rex sieht nur Bewegungen"-Kram). Jurassic Park III hatte sogar leicht gefiederte Dinos (mal davon abgesehen, dass der Film scheiße war).

Jurassic World will halt nur ein 08/15-Monsterfilm sein, und da scheinen Federn wohl aus irgendeinem Grund zu schaden. Was für mich okay ist, weil ich eh nie etwas von der Idee gehalten habe, eine Serie mit genau einem guten Film noch fortzusetzen (und ich deswegen weder den Film sehen werde noch darüber im genannten Thread diskutiere). Aber insgesamt schade isses halt schon – es hätte ein richtig "mutiger" Film sein können.

Ja, Jurassic Park ist ein absolut perfekt wissenschaftlich korrekter Film mit hohen Anspruch an die Realität, ich klone mir auch immer meine Raptoren (die, wenn Jurassic Park wissenschaftlich korrekt wäre auch eher so groß wie Hünchen wären und den Giftspucker gabs so doch auch gar nicht?

Von daher reines Nerd-Geweine.


Geht einfach den Leuten in den Filmthreads nicht auf die Eier und gut ist und am Ende werden ihr eh alle in die Kinos rennen.

But seriously, wouldn't be the new Terminator movie a bigger field for outrage? Usually I care much for scientific accuracy in sci-fi movies (e.g. Interstellar), but Jurassic Park always was a guilty pleasure.

Weiss nicht, der hat halt den Vorteil, dass Zeitreisefilme generell kaum Sinn machen, wenn man länger überlegt.

Hab mir da beim Plot aber auch an den Kopf schlagen müssen. Und bei dem schrecklichen Trailer wollte ich da auch nicht weiter drüber nachdenken.

Naja, deine Antwort hat ja nichts mit meinem Beitrag zu tun, ich sprach schließlich nie von "absolut perfekt wissenschaftlich", sondern "weitestgehend". Und Jurassic World ist nichts davon, sondern einfach nur ein beliebiger Monsterfilm.

Thank you too. They are more like Comic Issues, although we refer to them as Episodes (they include minigames etc too).

We actually are changing the translation of the 2nd sentence to be more clear:

Depending on how you approach your customer in other text, you might want to Swap "Du" with "du" (während du mit Episode 1 beginnst, während du dich mit Episode 1 beschäftigst) or "Sie" (während Sie mit Episode 1 beginnen, während Sie Sich mit Episode 1 beschäftigen).

Thanks again. We are using "DU" elsewhere (all text appears in all caps for stylistic reasons). I have gone with the less literal approach which I think might suit our app better.

Short, nonetheless personal and implied download in the background:
"Möchtest Du die restlichen Episoden herunterladen während Du Episode 1 schaust?"

"Do you want to download the rest of the episodes while you're watching Episode 1?"
