uh nice, aber bei sowas schlaf ich schon fast ein. hab mit einer dose red bull versucht entgegen zu wirken und fühl mich schon wie in crank oder so. zum glück trag ich meinen ring des adhs geplagten studenten und krieg auf multitaskting +9, so dass es gaaar nichts ausmacht, dass ich grade 10 mal pro minute facebook+neogaf checke D:


und ja, deutsch ist eine hure. sogar für deutsche

I have a question to native German speakers. Is the letter r pronounced at all? For example in words like "warum" or in words that end with an r like "hier", it seems that it has no sound.

I see, as a native spanish speaker it's kinda hard to notice when an r is used. Especially 'cause it seems the r in german is pronounced in a totally different way than in english or spanish.

well in "hier" it's kind of silent, it's pronounced only slightly, while in "warum" it's stronger. but then again it may also depend on local accents.

As a rule of thumb: if the "r" is the final letter of a word, it is not pronounced. However, you should keep in mind that this varies regionally and is not a 100% accurate.

edit: Also, the r in Spanish is an alveopalatal consonant, whereas in German, it is mostly a uvular consonant, so their articulation is very different.

Start to listen to Rammstein-songs. The singer pronounces the r correctly.


To be a little more serious: Most words with a strong r, are the words starting with it or having it somewhere at the beginning of the word. Like "Radfahren" or "Freizeitzentrum". The first r gets pronouced, while the second r e.g. in "Radfahren" gets mostly almosed swallowed or combined with the e and n. Like "Radfan".
There are other examples like "Futter" were the r turns to an "a". Like "Futta".
Where as in "Frucht" the r gets clearly pronounced.
