speaking of porn:

these images from deutsche welle's german lessons look like they were taken from a porno:

This post is quintessential German.

*Quintessentially

Deutsch-GAF 2025 meet up?

I was thinking more late 2013/early 2014, but sure, we can plan the 2025 one in advance if you want.

aaw make a pic wearing the bow tie, that's too adorable :D

I'll think about it :/

Warning - bow tie + beard combo means my hipster levels will be alarmingly high.

I never saw that :O

It's really good. Very quotable, with some good performances and the writing has a sort of wit and self awareness about it that makes it much better than you would expect if you read a short synopsis.

I'm curious what do young adults generally think about the great classical german/austrian composers in germany? I asked a friend and i was told people mostly listen to house and such mostly. Are they not that present in the mainstream culture anymore or appreciated?

Were you expecting the great classical composers to be big hits in Germany and Austria? How do people in your country feel about 17-19th century music? There will of course be a segment of the population that appreciates the classics for any medium, but the youth is always into modern music.

I know but i don't see any harm in asking, i wasn't sure if any special emphasis was put around them as national cultural treasures making them more perceptible in mainstream culture. No need to get pissy...

Mutes, it's like you've already been to the ol' G!

But yeah, it's probably just a universal truth. A classic musical education is important to a lot of Germans (and Austrians I pressume) though with our ideal still being Goethe as a polymath. Most middle/upper class kids will learn a classic instrument and there are lots of choirs and orchestras. I reckon there is a lot of appreciation for our classics. Not that that isn't the case in other countries or communities but it certainly is true for Germany.

Where is the rest of Germany? I guess they must be "working" and "doing things" with their day. What a bunch of losers. Get on GAF!

EDIT:

Oh god you all showed up as I was typing that.

I'm so sorry.

switzerland doesn't have an army, switzerland is an army. and the whole country is fortified, with dozens strips of highways designed to serve as emergency refuling and rearming stations for the air force. while that isn't that uncommon (at least in europe), the swiss actually designed their highway-net with that in mind.
most of these "airfields" are no longer maintained, but some of the bigger ones, the ones that include "Kavernen" - aircraft hangars drilled into solid rock, are still active AFAIK.

so the above photo is no shop, but actually shows swiss figther jets refuling on the highway (pic from the 80ies). of course not at the gas station - they use the roof as camoflage.

EDIT: (i saw that pic yesterday and thought it was a sight worth sharing when "die Schwiiz" came up)

laut wiki: meteorolgisch = dein kalendarisch.
