I can't even imagine how I would be reacting if I decided to wait. I'd be making dynamite in my bathtub right now probably.

I re-ordered with Expansys-USA.. they are showing it in-stock now.. and rumors are floating around about a software fix for the volume issue.. I'm in the US and in a 3/4G area.. and no one uses the 900Mhz frequency band..

If I have a problem, I'll just learn not to do this sort of thing next time.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm

So I was thinking if this would work to get the Galaxy Nexus for $0(or close to it)

I would sign up for Verizon through Amazon and their 1 Penny Sale. Then either sell the most expensive phone they have and pay for the GN OR swap it out through Amazon when/if the GN goes live on their site!

BRILLIANT!!!!

Google responds to Galaxy Nexus volume bug: 'we have a fix!'

The Galaxy Nexus volume bug has been squashed in Google's labs. The Android software maker has just announced it has a fix for the problem plaguing UK owners of the new Nexus, which will be rolled out "as soon as possible." Here's Google's statement in full:

"We are aware of the volume issue and have developed a fix. We will update devices as soon as possible."
It was starting to look like the pseudo-random volume fluctuation on the device was a hardware issue, one that would potentially require the replacement of affected handsets, but Google's promise of an update would seem to indicate that's not the case. Let's hope the remedy is as simple as an over-the-air software update.

No source on the verge website?

Still not convinced but if I get it now I'll probably skip the queue. It's like I'm fucking bipolar with my Nexus Prime love.

I know that one of the Android Developers was in a chat with a bunch of guys from XDA and that's what he said. However it wasn't an official statement. Whether there's a publicly available press release to link to is something else.

Moar news: http://blog.clove.co.uk/2011/11/23/samsung-galaxy-nexusbug-fix-update/

We are now pleased to be able to update you regarding the situation on the Galaxy Nexus and the issue regarding volume errors on some devices.

We tested the devices yesterday when they arrived and we did find the error in some of the phones but it appeared only to affect devices in poor signal areas using 900mhz frequency.

This was obviously of great concern so we were in discussions with various people and specialists yesterday morning to clarify the situation. We did not wish to make an announcement until a clear solution had been given by Google.

We can now confirm that Google were alerted early to this issue and have been working on a fix. It is software related and as you may have seen from various forum and blog posts this morning, they are now able to confirm that they will have a fix. It is NOT hardware related. We cannot yet say the precise date that this fix will be released but it is expected very soon.

The software update will be pushed out to devices by Google, free of charge, the moment it is available.

Given the discussions we had and this soon to be released update, we were happy to dispatch our devices, we simply could not make any official announcement until we had a clear solution.

We of course pride ourselves on the communication that we have with our customers and we were aware of the large number of enquiries we were getting about this yesterday from various media sources.

Whilst you may be frustrated by the way we have handled this, we have handled it this way to offer what we believe to be the best and most effective solution to the situation in hand.

For many of you, your device will now be on its way to you and the update will be following very soon.

We hope however you will understand that we wanted to give you clear and confirmed information before we made the announcement. We will of course update you as soon as we have more information.

Hmmmmzzz...

Handtec have updated again:
23/11 – UPDATE: Our expected delivery today from Samsung Distribution has been stopped\delayed for 48hrs. We now expect stock to arrive 25th November – with shipping taking place on the 25th through to 28th November. We hope the delay is related to the volume issue/bug and and the delay should reassure customers that Samsung is taking action. We apologise for the delay.

UPDATE A: After extensive testing of the devices on 22/11 we found many devices with the volume faults. A decisions was taken not to ship further devices until Samsung provided an update to the issue. We understand that they will be making an official announcement soon. Our daily deliveries from Samsung Distribution have also been delayed/stopped until the 25/11. Some customers have received there goods and tracking however if you have not received tracking then this delay of approx 48hrs will unfortunately effect you.

I gave them the go ahead yesterday at noon and my phone still hasn't been shipped. I really dislike that they are taking the decision away from the customer.

ugh

Just received an email confirming they haven't sent my order yet and directed me to their blog. So I'll have it either Friday or Monday, which is fine, but I dislike them making decisions for the customer and keeping some of us in the dark.

edit - confirmed i got snagged, no go for me until Monday

I love how the official Galaxy Nexus Twitter page hasn't acknowledged any of this at all and instead just goes on and on about that competition they are running.

Maybe they didn't hear about it cause their phone was accidentally on silent.

Joshua Topolsky from The Verge has been using his Galaxy Nexus and has something very promising to report regarding its battery life. He says on a pretty heavy day of usage he was able to squeeze out 17 hours of battery life and still have about 13% left.

Not bad. But he is using the GSM version, for those of you Verizon hopefuls.

I asked my buddy who's been using it for a few weeks, on 3g there's no problem but on lte really depends on use, on moderate to heavy he says at least most of the day without recharging.

Does the picture quality of the camera improve if you hold the phone longer for it to focus instead of just taking it right away?

If you are referring to touch to focus, then yes there is less chance of producing an out of focus shot. The actual quality is no different though.
