Game Boy Micro <3 Thread

Trying my luck getting some faceplates from Nintendo, they're going to call me back :P

My old Famicom one is scratched (I got it second hand) but I saw a photo earlier in this thread and they look badass with black faceplates, so I might get one of those and use it as my daily use Micro :P

I hate myself for missing those glorious Famicom Micros. Damn. I've been wanting those for a while. I hope they get more in, but is that even possible?

Anyway, a blue or green Micro would do as well.. But the Famicom one is just so beautiful!

Arcade Shock are again listing more new Japanese micros tomorrow. Some ace colors in there. Here's hoping the $99 price stays the same. Lol, I got no money so I won't be getting a sexy purple one. Boo.

Do they ship internationally?

all these years later and I still have my Micro that I pull out and play from time to time. I don't ride the subway much, but when I do it really helps pass the time.

And yes, as the years pass and I spend time with 3DS and particularly mobile phones (I've put in a lot of time on phone gaming) the micro screen really does feel - very, very small. Some games which I have always loved (often NES ones) feel almost too tiny to be legible, and to be honest the control can feel a bit cramped - although my muscle memory feels pretty satisfied "I am still holding a NES controller, yay!"

my favorite portable forever and ever, all things considered. If you are ever on the fence about joining the club, think on it no longer..

Nintendo Of America? If so good luck with that. I believe they sold out long ago.

You will be mine...someday...
Goodness. Forgot about those. I would pay a lot o money for that sucker.

Ya, you'd have to... they sell for more than a new PS3 now...

ya... face plates have been almost impossible to get for years in North America... I've got a stock pile of 7 or 8 of them that I'm hording jealously, but I've been looking for others forever and have yet to find anything at anything vaguely resembling a reasonable price...

Ordered a blue as well. When I tried to pay with my credit card, I apparantly triggered their "Fraud Protection Suite", so I had to go back and use Paypal instead. Hopefully I got one :/

I got a confirmation email almost immeditely. Check your email inbox.

International shipping is like $30-$40. So I think I'll give it a miss.

How often do they get these in? May be worth getting another Micro after Christmas when I'm not so skint.

They appear to be sold out completely. Congrats to those who got one!

What is the best card to rip my games to? I know there are a ton, and a lot of fakes out there.

Would like to avoid carrying around my original GBA pouch full of games, haha.

Probably for the best that they are sold out. I'd have totally bit on a Black or Blue one tomorrow morning regardless to the fact I can't afford it right now. :P

Thanks for the updates guys in regards to that place stocking them. I'll check back soon.

Nice. I have a stockpile of 3 myself that I got from Nintendo a couple of years ago. I think they're black and silver.

I also have 3 micros: 1 flame orange which is my first one that I bought off Craigslist for $20. It has a small scratch on the screen but it's not noticeable when it's on. I also have a silver one that I got from Gamestop and then a Famicom one that I got from another forum user.

Although the screens are small, they're so bright and detailed. I do get hand cramps if I play for more than an hour on it. It's perfect for having in your pocket when you need to sit on the can.

I made an impulse buy and ordered a black one this morning. Glad I did!! They sure didn't last long! This is micro number 3 for me, yes I have issues. My other 2 are almost too nice for me to carry around and play. I might still need to pick up a used one for that purpose, lol.

The blue one I ordered today will be my second Micro - I already have a silver. Really wanting a Famicom one, and I really like the design of the Micro, so a bigger collection would be nice.

It actually seems like the Silver unit is still available at ArcadeShock. Well, I can still put it in my basket and order it unlike the other colors. Perhaps worth a try for those looking for one.

where is the best place to buy a micro?

It would probably help if you asked for a particular style and where you are shipping to or if you are willing to buy used.

Styles:
Silver - US
Black - US
20th Anniv - US
Various Solid Colors - Japan
20th Anniv - Japan
Various Solid Colors - Aus / EU / TW
Rare Custom - $$$

Best places are:
New: Amazon,
Used: eBay (also check ebay.de, ebay.co.uk, ebay.com/au),
And finally, for new Japanese imports: wait for ArcadeShop to get new stock (hopefully). That was an incredible opportunity for those who got one.

So this is gonna sound crazy but I got my Famicom Micro from Amazon Warehouse Deals. Here is the listing on amazons website:

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000C1VJT8/?tag=neogaf0e-20

I paid $50 for a "like new" one from Amazon Warehouse deals and it came practically brand new. I know its a super long shot and it might have just been a fluke but it might be worth bookmarking from some of you guys.

Arg! There was a famicom Micro on clearance (something like 25$) at a store near me years ago, and every time I went in I would think about buying it. I just couldn't justify it, and I know I would hardly ever play it....but it was so pretty!

I've never wanted one before but goddammit I want a Micro now. Even though I have a SP+....

I got a craving for Harvest Moon FOMT a few months back and played it for weeks straight, nonstop on my Micro. One time I forgot to charge the battery and was going out so I grabbed my SP bright.

I almost gagged when I saw the colors of the field and town. The micro may not be as bright but it doesn't over-saturate until my eyes bleed.

I'll take a video probably. I'll post it in this thread. Never held a micro in my life, so this should be fun.

You are obviously in for a treat. I feel it is the single most beautiful piece of technology ever created. It feels like every mm was designed perfectly. It is prettier than any iphone, DS, 3DS, or PSP ever released.

Damn, I can't wait until friday. Buying Mario Golf: Advanced Tour to break it in.

Tops for me design-wise are the original Game & Watches. Micro slots right in there them.

I just bought a used Black one on eBay that's supposed to come with three games (Looked like Rhythm Tengoku, Super Robot Wars J, and Final Fantasy IV) along with a Play Yan Micro.

It was a hundred dollars for all of it.

IS THIS GOOD/BAD/WHATVER?

Edit: Especially since I wanted Rhythm Tengoku too?

I actually just pulled it out and I love the super saturation. There's some striking reds and deep blues that appeal to me. I would want a micro because of that sharp resolution and small size.

You're right. I put it in my basket and then checked the other colors. They were all OOS. I then tried the silver one and it was OOS. At that point, I realized I still had one in my cart and decided to buy it. Crazy, yes.

That's great! I knew something wasn't right with it being out of stock :)

Anyway, I've come across a brand new, never opened EU blue Micro, but the seller is asking for $250! I want the thing, but that's just a little too pricey :/
