Did anyone explain why Dany didn't target the only 5 enemies on horses obviously controlling the dead, and why the Dragons automatically knew who not to kill?
Could not disagree more. She is the most expressive actor on this show.Dany is such a crap actress I'm sorry. There are cartons of milk with more emotion.

According to real life rules. But we're talking perpetual winterland GoT ice here.It would be the time required for the lake to freeze over again.
Don't trust anyone. Not even your shelf.

They have the Night King literally staring them down for four days and there's no conversation at all about that amongst them? Are they staying awake all night? Are they sleeping in shifts? How are they surviving? How is their mental state? The show went the laziest way of portraying this. They also ruined a lot of that tension though by telegraphing that Dany was coming. They really shouldn't have done Gendry running to east watch and the raven at all. Figure out a different way to have her save the day and make it so we know she might, but don't know she will. Show the group of people desperately wondering if they're going to just die on that island there or if they have hope of Dany coming.
Creating tension through visuals and conversation in that moment could have made the most memorable and in my opinion the least boring part of this entire season. It could have. All the pieces were there. They just didn't use them.
I'm not going to trust you on this because I have eyes, ears, and a brain that has witnessed Season 1 many times. There's no comparison to the passage of time in Season 1 and the garbage in last episode. Not even close and I can't see how you can say this with a straight face.
Well in regard to your last point, Jon touched on this and I thought made a good point. Burning everything and leaving a trail of destruction in your wake is what kings/queens have done forever. If she wants to be better, she's got to find a better way than allowing innocents to suffer and by the thousands by straight up attacking king's landing.
The power of wanting to see Ghost CGI again kept Jon alive. The lake can't be that cold because Jon crawled out of it, ran away from zombies, and rode horseback to Eastwatch without dying of hypothermia on the way. Remember he's soaking wet the entire time, if not literally frozen at his extremities.
2-4 days is a reasonable estimation.

fixtThe power of wanting to see Dany naked kept Jon alive.
Going with the 36 hour timeline someone proposed a while back. Staying stationary like that for four days would've killed them. Then there isn't enough time for Gendry/Raven/Dragon Flight.

She didn't have to like burn whole citites. Just destroy the Lannister army and the newly magically created amazing fleet of Cersei's suitor and profit.
I get that there's a point to be made, but I feel like it's mostly made to obscur the obvious. It's not like Dany hasn't destroyed a couple of armies before
Yeah I will say the fake outs have been dumpsteriffic this season

This forced conflict between Arya and Sansa is really pissing me off. Just really poor writing all around to manufacture this conflict in a completely unconvincing way. Arya sucks.
Things we lost because we don't have the balls to take out Cersei in a quick and decisive strike:
This is getting ridiculous. Any moron who thinks this is acceptable losses in a war, when said war could be ended with a strike on a palace compound, deserves to lose.
- Yara Greyjoy and the Greyjoy alliance
- Ellaria Sand, the Sand Snakes, and the Dornish army
- Lady Olenna Tyrell, High Garden, and the Reach
- Civilians lost during the sacking of High Garden
- Thoros of Myr
- Viserion

I feel like they wasted the potential for Thoros to revive fallen men while the battle raged on. Would have made for some good "hold them off while I bring him back!" tension. Yes, cheese, but better than the cheese we got. Beric could have died again and lost more of himself, or Hound could have died and be rez'd. Then Thoros could have died reviving a red shirt.Jon wouldn't try to fuck with this magic, but you'd think Berric would try to cast raise on Thoros. Just give it a shot.

It has to be a work. I have too much faith in the Stark sisters for it not to be.
So why does she spend all her time staring blankly?
No one has mentioned that the wights seem less like zombies and more like rotting normal soldiers. some unsettling examples of intelligence were this dude quite literally watching his steps to make sure he wasn't cracking the ice goading the others to do the same:
How many of those did they know they were going to lose though? Hindsight is something something. They just thought there'd be a siege at KL and they'd take Casterly Rock.
That and they seemingly have enough awareness to form a small grudge.I loved this wight, he wanted the Hound's head after he broke his jawbone.
Even that is an example of intelligence that would be far beyond "mindless zombie." That's a genuine tactic.i belive it was trying to set it on fire to kill it

There's still so little we know about them.
