No, they're only introduced at that stage, although one of them (Thoros, the leader of that group) was mentioned in season 1 by Jory.

They were actually mentioned in Season 2 as well. Tickler, the torturer with the rats, was asking all of the prisoners for information on the Brotherhood, remember?

By the way what happened to Arya's sword? I think it was called little needle or something like that?

I wonder if people would criticize her acting so much if they didn't know that fact.

I've always thought she was fine on the show.
Don't really see the problem either, she actually won quite a lot of German awards.

I think some people have got the Queen of Thorns name from the HBO new character introduction thing they did (not just the books). I think that's how Diana Rigg introduced herself. I hope there's an interesting reasoning behind the name, it can't just be due to the Tyrell Rose.

This is just making me sad, easily my favourite character and I want him back. But with that face not the new one. (Never going to happen though)

Wasn't Needle (what ever the name of the sword was) taken by The Tickler (or another guard) when they were capture before going to Harrenhal? (Answered better by Raist)

easily the best character of the show![/QUOTE]

When the blu came out and I rewatched s2, I couldn't agree more. He is SO good. Actually, my favorite little moment in this show is when he nonchalantly kicks a chicken when Arya talks to him. He just nailed every scene.

I don't think that there's one. She's the matriarch of the Tyrells, their motif is the rose and she was quite thorny in the episode. A lot of the nicknames in-universe are just from the persons heraldry and their current stature in life.

Needle. Was confiscated by Lorch, who was killed by H'gaar. She didn't seem to have got it back.
Ah, yeah, now I remember. Too bad that she didn't get it back. The sword seemed important to me, especially after all the training.

Huh, Shae seems fine to me.

P.S. Why does Sansa keep making dumb decisions? First she doesn't go with the Hound, now she wants to leave with slimy Littlefinger instead? Not to mention stupidly talking to that other girl and her grandmother.

I think it's because the stark kids were all written younger than they appear in the show, so the ridiculously stupid decisions they make (Arya, Robb, and Sansa in particular) make more sense.

I knew that was probably going to be the case. :( Oh well, as long as she keeps being incredibly awesome.

I long for a run in between her and Joffrey. It would be magnificent.

Eh, I'd lose a bit of respect for the show if it is the same actor. I like the idea of the dude with no identity using disposable facades.

It's mainly the voice and how the actor portrayed the character. He could come back with different make up etc.

Something else I wondered, why did the Hound call Arya a bitch when he offered to help Sansa leave King's Landing last season? I would've thought he grew a soft spot for the girls.

Also I cannot for the life of me remember when Tyrion got his Squire. I remember he had his cousin who was in love with the Queen spying for him, and the Squire saved him in the battle, but I cannot remember when the paths of these two crossed and what happened to the original guy.

And PS. When I heard Ned Stark's voice last episode I got excited for a possible cameo like we had with Drogo last season. Alas it wasn't so, I would love to see Mr. Sean Bean back, fantastic actor and I was one of those who was mighty upset at his passing the first season, but at that moment I became hooked to the show.

For reference I've subscribed to this thread and will try to moderate it as best I can, but I do sleep and get busy, so if I miss something obvious or somebody is acting up and I don't notice, feel free to PM me about it.

Does "acting up" include the annoying people who lose their shit whenever they see a black bar despite them being appropriately used?

They're the ones shitting up the thread.

Anyway, I get the feeling that this series ends with Dany on the iron throne.

She's just been doing her own thing while all the other contenders tear each other apart and I have to think the dragons grow up and come into play at some stage.

Who is the gang that captured arya and the hound? Are we supposed to know who they are?

They were the Brotherhood Without Banners. Remember in season 2 when The Mountain was torturing town folk, asking if they knew where the Brotherhood was? He was referring to the group that appeared in sunday's episode.

Acting up probably includes the idiots spoiling stuff with black bars and shit even though the OP says not to. Just my guess.

Acting up definitely includes annoying metacommentary on what constitutes acting up.

Just PM a mod, don't shit up the thread with complaints.

The deck seems just too stacked in her favor. I mean, the dragons alone are game over. Add to that, eventually a horde of Dothraki (Mongols/Huns), basically worshiping her as a goddess. Add to that a few thousand Unsullied (Mamluks/Jannissaries). Of the historically based Eastern bad-asses it's only Martin's equivalent of the Assassins she hasn't got her hands on yet. She's just too obvious of a winner. So I'm afraid she's gonna end up with a dagger in her back.

It is interesting just watching her as she doesn't engage the conflict and slowly builds an army. Really too, she has the rightful claim to the throne as well.

Arya and Sansa are nothing alike though. Arya's hated him since he killed her friend in season 1.

I still find it amusing that they managed to cast a really small and a really tall actress as the Stark girls. They must look funny standing next to each other

How many Dothraki has Dany got? I can't recall the show detailing that though I probably missed it.

Not much, the only Dothraki she has left were personal servants or people who believed in her, the rest of them left when Drogo died.

I also forgot a bunch of them were slaughtered in Qarth when her dragons were stolen too.

This is probably a dumb question but I'll ask it anyway. Ever since they introduced the wargs I've been wondering if it is possible for a warg to control dragons. Could it happen or is this scenario too outlandish?

Two remarkably intelligent decisions.

I'm not entirely sure, at least not about Dany's dragons. She seems to have sort of a telepathic connection to them. I'm guessing that would make it harder.

It's also not made clear if wargs can just take over any animal or if the animal has to allow them to take over.

I wonder what Barristan's allegiance can bring to the table. He's clearly a very skilled fighter, and probably carries some influence. Dany's forming up a pretty formidable team. Can't wait to see those dragons grow. They eat fish, now, but.. what will 3 fully grown dragons eat? Cows? Horses? Slave armies?

I'm salivating at all the possible battles going on in my mind, with 3 dragons going apeshit overhead.

Credibility, he's the best swordsman in the seven kingdoms.

This is speculation on my part, but most fantasy works treat dragons as super intelligent or pseudo-magical creatures. Considering that GoT does not shy of tropes, I'm guessing a warg cannot take control of a dragon. It would also open the doors to all kinds of plot fuckery.

Edit: As far as we know dragons were only tamed by the Targaryen, so I'm guessing that wargs are completely out of the picture.

I'm going to say no on that. Typically, dragons are portrayed as being very intelligent (or at least, on par with Man's intelligence), strong-willed, greedy, and often arrogant and self centered. I think perhaps Dany could do it because they'd allow it because of her bond with them, but I can't see anyone else doing it, certainly not by force. Unless Melisandre?

I'm just winging this though really.

I also think he had a soft spot for Sansa knowing how fucked she was to be marrying Joffrey. When he tells her she will appreciate his love of killing when he's all that stands between her and her king husband, I felt he had sympathy for her. Arya doesn't need any of that from him.

One of my favourite Arya/Jaqen(?) moments was after Arya gives him his name and he says, "The girl has no honour", and she just shrugs her shoulders. Then I'm reminded that honour was Ned's downfall, and Arya has what it takes to survive in this world.

This makes a lot of sense. And now that I think of it, the dragons do seem to have more personality and independence than the other creatures in Westeros. A part of me wants this to happen so that if she wins the crown Daenerys seems a less obvious winner of it.
Melissandre could be as powerful as she claims but I've learned never to trust anyone in Westeros making such promises. I guess we'll see if she is able to deliver when the time comes.

She certainly "delivered" when it came to killing Renly.
