I just imagine the actor for Hodor doing his scenes and messing them up intentionally. He kneels down next to Bran, opens his mouth, furrowed brow... turns to the director: "Line?"

Whew, finally got caught up! Missed the first episode due to circumstances, so had to watch it last weekend instead of the new one. Then just got to watch the new one today.

Feels like the start of S2. Little bit slow, little all over the place. Bet it picks up by episode 6-7, though! Nice to see everyone again. Even stupid Lady Stark. Man, that shit about Jon Snow was weird. Also, am I remembering wrong or was Jaqen Haqar aligned somehow with the Brotherhood Without Banners?

I generally enjoy the show despite its various weaknesses (many of which I can forgive as the pains of adaptation), but every scene with Shae is so bad, and it's amplified when she's with Tyrion. Whatever it is they think they're doing with that storyline, it really doesn't work.

I hate that I agree, as I really want to like Shae, but it's just not working out for me so far.

Why is this thread not as popular as the other one? Is it because the book readers aren't in it? :(

They have more content to discuss. Mostly comparing book to show

I dig Shae and her story. She's not that bad for a former adult actress.

Huh, Shae seems fine to me.

P.S. Why does Sansa keep making dumb decisions? First she doesn't go with the Hound, now she wants to leave with slimy Littlefinger instead? Not to mention stupidly talking to that other girl and her grandmother.

Sansa is an idealistic teenage girl who doesn't get the vicious undertones of what's going on around her. She is slowly learning and trying to cope, but her character is defined by not understanding the true nature of what's going on around her.

It makes her both a fascinating character and a frustrating character to observe.

She is her father's daughter.

This. Especially in contrast to Arya, who understands things EXACTLY as they are and has shown an amazing amount of growth in a very short amount of time.

I didn't know Shae was a former adult actress. That's interesting. Wasn't GRRM gushing praise about her in a few interviews?

She seemed a lot better in season 1.

I don't think it's dumb from her perspective, like the posters above me, Sansa is incredibly idealistic and almost the definition of the daughter of a lord. She knows her place in the world and she loves it, or at least she did before shit popped off in Season 1. Her decision to not leave with the Hound is easy - why would she leave with a freakish brute who looks awful and is/was the bodyguard of the man she was abused by? Way too risky. Compare that to Littlefinger, who in her mind is simply a man who had close ties to her mother and father, and is much nicer looking and friendlier.

You could also tell she was extremely hesitant with revealing Joffrey's true nature, but at this point it's been hard to keep the truth in and when the ability to express her true feelings presents itself, it still takes the Queen of Thorns awhile to get the truth out.

Wait, the grandmother is called the Queen of Thorns? That's awesome, I really liked that character. I hope we'll be seeing more of her.

Why did the Hound give up Arya at the end? Isn't he friend to little girls? Also, Shae's actress is just really bad. She sounds like she's reading off cue cards, or repeating someone else's words.

Did I miss something in the last episode or was it deliberately not revealed who it was that was torturing Theon Greyjoy?

I thought I remember Lady Catelyn asking if Theon had told them anything yet before they first cut to the torture room, so I assumed the Starks captured him somehow, but I'm not sure.

Currently polling second in Australia's federal election (first in the Gold Coast), this feral may one day be your Bogan King.
Shae's acting is spotty, but her accent balances it out for me.

I remember that last bit, but somehow I thought there was some connection. I might be remembering someone's baseless speculation from last year's thread, though.

Arya's former dance/sword instructor and Jaqen are from the same mystical land of random skills, I think. In fact, I'm kind of certain it was mentioned before at the end of S2.

I thought the brotherhood were from there too, given their supernatural-esque ability and their nonchalant demeanor. I was really hoping Arya would've taken up Jaqen's offer to go train with him, and then come back and kick Joffrey's ass with magic kungfu. That would've been so sweet.

Margaery Tyrell ftw. I don't know why but I love her now, even though she is kind of suspicious...

She's in the best position to take out Joffrey.

Wouldn't have ended well for her but just imagine when he handed her that crossbow. She could have shot him pretty quickly if she wanted to.

No, Joffrey needs to have a cruel and bloody death after torture. But, yeah she could totally kill him...

You haven't read the books, Cyan? That surprises me.

I believe that is her nickname or something but that is from the books. Haven't read them either but where I was browsing another no-book-spoilers-thread on another forum and someone brought it up and pissed a lot of people off that they dropped that name when the show didn't (amongst other things).

Granny Tyrell is what I'm calling her.

That was the first thing that clicked with me when they said who they were as well although I am not sure. I hope he comes back somehow, he was a fascinating character.
