Fantastic episode. I need more Tyrion though.
As for the sex scenes, I think half of them make sense. It's HBO, they like to push the envelope and I'm a man: I like to see sex. I want to see the sex scenes in the book. *shrugs* And the ones with my favorite characters that are only hinted at in the book - Melisandre come to mind. Like, really comes to mind.
The ones with Ros are the only ones I'm not happy with, because they add nothing. Even if her character is replacing another character, she's not a big enough character to deserve a major scene in every single episode. If there is some added lore with her in a later season, like maybe she's the living avatar of the Old Gods or something, then I'll understand why she's here. And then I'll stop watching.
Liam Cunningham's portrayal of Davos is so delightful. I'll go even farther and say he's improving the character somewhat. There's a bit of humor with him where Davos is a bit somber in the books.
I loved this part. Great Davos face.

Oh, I agree. I think most of the sex scenes serve a purpose. Even if they don't advance the plot, they add to the characterization. Even the scene with Ros in this episode, I think they're just hammering to us how much of a dick Littlefinger is. It just seems like it's all everybody talks about.
haha holy shit, I never noticed Davos' face.
I hate that they combined his sons though. This kid is basically the combination of his scholarly, pious son and a hardcore badass son. And somehow that created "droopy eyed, cowardly religious zealot" son.
Yeah, it's a bit weird. It's like people have forgotten what book series this is based on. The book has a sex scene or some reference to "fucking" or "cunts" or "my cock in ______" or random rapings every other chapter. Plus, we're all mostly guys and guys like sex. Most of us were weaned on late night softcore porn on Skinemax. What's the fucking issue? haha
Oh and I didn't mention this probably because I had seen it already but that scene between Varys and Tyrion was great. Conleth Hill nails that part so perfectly. Are there any interviews of him talking about his character?
I think the GAfers living with their parents have the biggest problem. I've never had an issue with the sex in the series.
ACOK/ASOS SpoilersI liked how Melisandre told him how he was going to die.
The sex scenes aren't an issue for me personally but I would like to watch with family and friends without having to worry about some over the top and unnecessary sex scene. Aside from that I just think it limits the audience for the show, fantasies can bring in a lot of different viewers with different sensitivities and I want this franchise to have has big an audience as possible.

In fairness, despite the evils he does, Theon's story is really one big fucking joke. He can't keep anything together. He's probably the least lucky person in the entire kingdom.
I'm ~200 pages into A Storm Of Swords and I would disagree. There is nothing unlucky about Theon just acting like a selfish self-entitled asshole. He brought every bit of what happened to him on himself.
I hate that they've removed some of the shades of grey from Littlefinger. It's not interesting when he straight up sells a girl to be dismembered, tortured, and murdered and then threatens another with the same for crying. Whorehouses were just an investment in the books anyway; he was smarter, more complicated, and bigger than just running one really extravagant whorehouse.
I don't really think the sex scenes in tonight's episode really served a purpose besides to hit the prerequisite TNA quota on HBO/pay cable. It feels forced or tacked on in a bad way.

I have to agree. I wasn't sold on him. I thought he looked a bit too young and dressed too drably. I pictured him much more flamboyant. But sometime during a rewatch of season 1 and my re-read of the entire series, I fell for his Varys portrayel.
V is one of my favorite characters and there isn't anyone else who could have done the role as perfectly. And like Varys, I've never seen an interview with the actor: I think he wants to keep his secrets close to him.
Honestly seems to be the issue. People seem uncomfortable, so I'm assuming they're watching the show with other people.
I keep picturing a mom or some girl they're trying to impress or some "bros" hanging around and going "is this what you read late at night when you go to sleep?".
Wait...what?
Edit: OH, Mathos. I thought you were talking about someone else.
I watch it with my wife and keep hoping it makes her excited.
But as for a bigger audience, you're barking up the wrong tree with that one. This is HBO. It's not going to be PG13 for the masses.
It was the most awkward, poorly-done "seduction" ever.As far as I recall they were all in the books, or at least implied.
Hot Pie/Samwell Tarly sex scene.Needs more bare chested hot dudes imo.
Was Jon Snow sharpening his sword made of valyrian steel?

Why. Why is this show so good.

I'm no expert on blades so unless using the stone serves other purposes other than sharpening then it looks like a small plot hole.

None of the wiki articles about Valyrian Steel mentioned they never need to be sharpened. Just that they're 'sharper'. I can't recall if they explicitly say otherwise in the books. So it might be nothing at all.
My review:
Jon Snow scenes:
Tyrion scenes:
Theon and boat girl scene:
Balon and Yara owning Theon
Arya and Gendry scenes:
Davos and pirate scene:
Mel and Stannis scene:

I have a question about season 1. Didn't Cersei get it on with the Knight of the Flowers? Wasn't there a scene where she was reading something, and then KotF comes up behind her and she says, "go back to bed." This is really never brought up again.

That was her cousin, Lancel Lannister (the squire King Robert made fun of earlier in the season as he filled his cup with wine)
That was Lancel, her cousin. Not Loras.
That wasn't the Knight of Flowers, that was the Lannister cousin that was Robert's squire.
It's not the sex, necessarily.
It's the context; how it happened and the overall value attached to it.
