And then when the dragon was shot down, why didn't she fly behind the ships and burn them. From what I could see, all the ships had their harpoons at the front so they couldn't attack the rear, they'd ruin their sails.

You've just seen your 2nd Dragon die, and you've dragon killing bolts being fired at you. You're probably thinking about self-preservation versus revenge at that moment. Revenge can come later when you have a cooler head.

She forgot they were there, apparently.
And after they shot the one dragon down, she forgot again.

We all know Dany will be on the verge of losing when (from out of nowhere) they send in the cavalry, they send in... (wait for it) the Mereens :messenger_winking_tongue:

Since I have no clue what is going to happen and I can't really even guess at this point, I really have two main thoughts/feelings going forward.

A.) If Euron goes down, I hope that motherfucker gets his shit-kicked hard.

B.) If they really go "Mad Queen Dany," I think that would disappoint me. I feel like the whole point all these years is that isn't her, she's better than that. If she just ends up losing her shit at the end I feel like it will be yet another thing that I have to ask "what was the point then" once the dust settles, and there seems to be already have been enough of that.

We'll see.

To be honest I wouldn't be mad at all if Cersei wins. I actually feel like, logistically, she should win.

She pulled off a sneak attack that killed a dragon (still not sure how they weren't seen), and then the dragon queen lets her last dragon come within range? With enemies that dumb, who needs friends? On the flip side I can't believe Cersei didn't kill that last dragon. But advantage still goes to Cersei if dragon queen is that dumb.

Not sure where you stand currently, but I am rapidly running out of ways to say good things about this season. Have been keeping a positive outlook, but MEH!

One possible outcome of the awful writing is that it could motivate Martin to roll up his sleeves and finish the books, to protect his legacy.

I'd really like to read the books but I'm not touching them until they're done.

With them forshadowing that Dany is turning into the mad queen I think there'll be a "breaking bad" point in the next episode where she will find out that Varys is not loyal to her anymore and since she lost every adviser except for Tyrion and Varys I think she will decide to execute the latter one.

Since Varys is known since season 1 that he is always the one who is for the people, the general folk, the true protector of the realm it would be THE point to proof that Denarys is going to be evil in the end, sadly.

I just want to see Arya on the throne when everything is said and done.
She might not have earned killing the Nights King in the show but she does in the books and D&D just ruined her story.

Arya for the throne!

I'd like this too, Gendry and Arya on the throne make sense, but it'll be something stupid like the zombie Bran/Sansa via Twitter poll or Tyrion via random number draw or Brienne via roshambo.

Oh shit, I just realized that Gendry Baratheon will be sitting on the Iron Throne.

Cersei is out of the picture, she's a dead woman walking. Jon and Dany will turn on each other resulting in each others deaths....after that there is only one person left who is eligible to be sitting on the Throne. The only bastard of Robert Baratheon, GENDRY.

We will have a Baratheon sitting on the Throne ruling which he doesn't like, loving a Stark lady which he can't have. We're going full cycle now.

Yeah, because Arya and Gendry on the iron throne isn't stupid at all, of course.

-All that matters is the throne, not the white walkers!

*Gendry sits on the throne. Consider your expectations subverted again, Kiddo.

-Best ending eveeeeeeerrrrrrrr

Welcome to the Quasim... I meaaaan, the Arya show.

Wtf do Arya or Gendry know about leading, how does it make sense?
One is an assassin and the other is an Olympic rower.

Makes about as much sense as all of Season 7 and 8. They could spend 5 mins. on developing them into great leaders that are so far from their established characters that it would fit with the already established themes of the season. Nothing needs to make sense anymore.

I always support Danny since season 1 despite her temper tantrum and lack of patience but if she dared to kill the spider....

fuck it....thats the turning point for me.. il go 180 degree against her...

I’ll take Jamie on the throne in the end. He is the only one that has displayed the knowledge and will to lead the 7 kingdoms.

Two episodes left. I hope that episode 5 will end the war of all wars and episode 6 will be our "final answers" episode where every shit that didn't get explained yet will be explained. I mean, this can't be it with the 3ER and NK? and Bran, and so on...this can't be it...

But who will watch the spinoffs and prequels if they let it all out of the bag now? Gotta milk this cow.

I think the only character gaining the throne that would piss me off more than Gendry would be Sansa.

But they'd never do that, right?

Oh, fuck. Now I cant unsee it. Somebody please make me unsee it.

That was when they were first cast. Filming was a way off, plus initially, they did the Pilot but HBO wasn't happy with it and in between the partial reshoot they also recast Catelyn (Michelle Fairley replacing Jennifer Ehle...possibly because the latter and Lena Headey have similar faces). They threw a scene in there were the boys are all shaved before the king's feast to cover the continuity of them being bearded in some scenes and not in others as they were mixing footage from the original pilot.

If I wanted to read Reddit I'd go there versus GAF. Maybe post your own opinions, rather than cut/pasting others?

You want us to give up posting links to Twitter and Youtube too?

Depends on the content really. But I don't see much value in 'How I'd have done things differently' or 'The Showrunners are so stupid type of posts'

The shows already wrapped and there are 2 episodes to go. Crying over spilt milk because it hasn't gone the way you wanted/expected at this stage in proceedings seems kind of pointless to me.

You're getting confused with Nostradamus, dude.

Quasimodo lived in the Belltower of Notre Dame.

Dany going mad makes perfect sense. It's been hinted from the start of the show and it's exactly what GRRM was going for.

I agree that the execution in the show is bad though.

Criticizing the production of the show, like the writing for example, is a valid form of discussion that is both relevant and important. The post I linked above analyzes the choices a character makes and its ramifications on the overall story.

Crying over spilt milk because it hasn't gone the way you wanted/expected at this stage in proceedings seems kind of pointless to me.
That's an uncharitable way of characterizing literary critique.

Yeah pretty much

I don't think there is any double standard. Danny is literally acting more and more like Viserys, she thinks of herself as a messiah and becomes more authoritarian and angry by the minute.

Tywin was a sadistic motherfucker, the Rains of Castamere is a story of an implacable man infringing fear into his oponents, he was not crazy or had deluded messianic ideas about himself, he was just cruel and ambitious.

Stannis is pretty much established as a crazy motherfucker that, just like Danny, believed the nonsense about being special and having a destiny. He ended up burning his own daughter.

Ned Stark executed deserters because that's the law about the Nightwatch, you are forgiven of your crimes but in exchange you dedicate your life to the nightwatch. Those are rules that make sense and have to be enforced. Danny burned alive the soldiers of the Lannister side just because they didn't bend the knee, going against his Hand advice.

And comparing Jon with Robert Baratheon is ridiculous. Jon has shown to be a great leader; has charisma, is honorauble and people love him.
