game with best water??

Not the best but I like the water in Wave Race 64.

Not just the look of it, but how the watercraft reacts to the waves. Cool stuff for such an old game.

At the time, Splashdown on PS2 blew my freaking mind.

Also loved the water effects in Ico and Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance.

These days, it's Sea of Thieves and nothing else come close.

This thread again? 🙄

Man, half a decade and still clinging to the past. Shame.

Always had a soft spot for the water in Watch_Dogs'; the first game -- especially in the Chicago River -- was pretty impressive in 2014, then the water in Watch_Dogs 2 in 2016 was really nice looking.

Batman Arkham Knight was really striking with its turbulence.

The best looking underwater is Horizon Forbidden West; and with a few exceptions, it's surfaces are great too.

look ok buuuuut no play
I have close to 400 hours in it, I love it and played it a ton during covid

It's still a great game, it just severely depends on having good company to play with

Playing with randoms can be pretty awful. Although I've met some really cool and interesting people from around the world in open lobbies.

Sea of thieves

I've been quite stunned by Tainted Grail water. You rarely see good looking water in these type of game.

This thread again? 🙄
He is trying to get a permanent ban this time, other wise he wont have time to play his SW2.

mario kart world my new charmpione
Sure, it looks nice, but when you look past optics only at how the water behaves, when all those dolphins and "carts" crash around in the water, it should have a real impact: ripples, minor waves partly countering each other, etc.
But none of that happens beyond some splashes and trails - the water seems to completely disregard anything happening in it; if it didn't move on its own it would be entirely static.
That's not a winner.

Whatever is the best water in a video game, it would have to combine good looks with actual simulation.
