GameSpot: E3 Opens To The Public For The First Time Ever

As someone who has been to 14 of them, I can confirm this will not be the first time ever.

Lol, I've met some pretty cool people @ E3 but have also seen, and thought I would never see, the epitome of a game nerd. Like everything molded into one.

I don't know why people would want to try out the adult VR stuff since they share horny sweat accumulated from the headsets.

Went to PSX, my first such convention, two months ago. It mostly fucking sucked. Huge wait just to get in, then hour+ waits to try anything, even some less popular titles.

It pretty much killed my lifelong dream of going to e3, as I bet those lines are even worse.

Yup, same thing for me but it's been at other expos, the reason to go is getting to hang out with friends. If you are looking to actually play anything then pick 2 or 3 things max because waiting in line is not worth it. I will never understand the people who line up to play games that are already out.

No thanks.

Keep in mind, I also wouldn't care if they had some guy booth babes too. Most of that stuff never bothers me. As long as it flows with the game and it's not just some "lets just show some sexy for the sake of showing sexy".

Having nice looking ladies and gentleman dressed up as tribe members from Alloy's clan for a Horizon booth for Sony would be a good idea to me.

If you think PSX at Anaheim "f'ing sucked" then I'd recommend staying far away from E3.

The lines are longer, games are presented quite often in theater format (meaning no hands on time), much will be behind closed doors and unavailable, and it's certainly not a traditional consumer con. And nope, a ticket to E3 does not allow entry to any of the press conferences. You'll also be drowning in jean/sportcoat dude running from meeting to meeting.

That being said, if some people want to pay that much to go check it out, more power to 'em.

And booth babes as a concept has always been terrible.

Right?!

Whats the deal with that?

Though I guess when the RE7 wait is 3 hours long, may as well play the Destiny dlc preview with the 45 minute wait. Or just go home after just two demos cuz you are sick of stupid lines (what I did). It was a major letdown, was looking forward to it.

There was even a two hour wait to get into the store to buy PS swag! Wait in a long line to give Sony money lol. At that point, they need to plan better. Make the event bigger or sell less tickets.

Yeah, PSX is one of the better conventions as far as wait times go due to it's poor attendance. Short of the odd game here and there having a poor demo length to kiosk ratio(eg RE7 30 minute demo and what 4 kiosks?), waits weren't that bad.

Edit: Store wait was insane, Sony fucked that one up good.

That's cool... I've always wanted to attend, but after going to CES several years ago, I don't think I even want to be in city during a major convention like this, it's a huge pain in the ass, and very expensive as everyone hikes prices up just because of the event.

The Tecmo booths during the Beach Volleyball years was consistently ripe with all kinds of fuckery.

The classic Eidos booths were also notorious...

Checked the registration page a couple of times and I get the expected "E3 2017 Registration is not yet open. Please check back." message.

I checked it just now and it put me in a queue and it said that 649 people were ahead of me. Then after a minute it dropped to 611. Then after another minute it refreshed itself back to the "E3 2017 Registration is not yet open. Please check back."

I guess some IT guy is testing things out or something.

If I buy a ticket for my wife, in the event we don't go...does anyone know if I can cancel the ticket and get a refund? I wasn't sure if it answered that on the site.

Same for me. While on the reg page I noticed it said $150 tickets for first 1,000 people only so guess even if one gets through it should be expected it'll be the $250 price :/

Can one person buy multiple tickets? A group of us are trying to go and get three at once to be sure we're all able to go.

I've mentioned before how shitty PSX is compared to E3. But now with E3 open to the public, it'll probably inherit some of the worst parts of PSX (long lines, rabid fanboys, etc.)

Let's go, early bird special...

lmao 5130 in line. I clicked as soon as the clock struck 12

I'll bite ate 150, but not 250. Rather just take those days off from work.

2500 people in line ahead of me. I didn't think the early bird discount was going to be limited to 1000.

The $150 pass was kind of tempting, but $250 is asking way too much for what you get.

Wow, early bird limited to 1,000. Currently 7006 in line. Of course.

My girlfriend wants to go and she's not here right now. Are we screwed or can I get 2?

Yeah especially when day 1 exhibit is only from 12pm -6 pm
Good luck trying to see or play anything with the 4 hour waits on Nintendo alone.

Generally the best practice for something like this is to start spamming the link at least two minutes before it goes live. There's always a good chance registration will open up 15-30 seconds before the deadline actually arrives.

Dropped to 687 ahead of me.

If I get the early pass special, that would be a nice start to what will be a very shitty work week. lol

Damn, forgot about this thing. 11,000 something in line. Still not sure if I want to go tho. I'll probably only attend one day. Rather go to the Sony's Press Conference. Been to 2 of those and I'll gladly pay for that.
