Gaming ... Getting Boring?

I don't know what the hell you guys are talking about, gaming is getting better and better every f'n day. Drinky and Wario hit the nail right on the head by mentioning the fact that people only want to play the AAA, media-sactioned, cream-of-the-crop. Which is total shite. One thing that I've noticed is that people who say that gaming is getting boring, or that a particular game has reinvigorated their loves for games/made them realize why they love games, are usually big Nintendo fans.

What you need to do is become a cheap-ass gamer. I always buy behind the times, and I buy what I want, not what some "professional" tells me to.

Just recently, I picked up Rygar and Sub Rebellion for PS2 for $10CDN each. I've had more enjoyment from these 2 games than from most of the stuff I paid over $50 for.

Nintendo gamers tendo to demand good gameplay over anything else. And a lot of games today fail in that regard.

Which is why you need to play Gothic 2 for the pc. You wont regret it.

Whenever I get bored I price out a used Saturn with Guardian Heroes, Iron Storm and Dragon Force. That's my safeguard plan for when everything seems boring.

when gaming gets boring I get on halo 2, kill some 13 year olds, call their moms bitches and then get banned from xbox live for a week.

ACCORDING TO THE FUCKED FEEDBACK SYSTEM ANYWAY.

I mean it's not like 13 year old punks who can only yell "die faggot" every two seconds would send you negative feedback because you legitimately beat them while not being rude. WOULD THEY?

/rant

if gaming bores you, go try and beat a high score in pacman. Pacman is awesome.

IBTN.

I'd say right now, just pack things away and go for other pursuits. If the gaming bug doesn't bite you after a few months, then yeah I guess your mindset's pretty steady, start selling... but even then, save your favorites and things you may not be able to find easily for last-resort sales. Don't just sell everything as a spur of the moment thing.

Gaming getting boring? Definitely not for me.

If I played the same games everybody else did I would get bored easily, but there's enough games out there to satisfy my needs. The hard part is finding time to actually play all the games I buy.

This month alone I've purchased Ico, Virtua Fighter 4 Evo, Space Channel 5: SE, Onimusha Warlords, Katamari Damacy, Mobile Light Force 2, Street Fighter Anniversary Collection, Mega Man X8 and X7, Metal Gear Solid 2, Devil May Cry, Gradius III&IV, R-Type Final, Castlevania: Lament of Innocence, P.N.03, Resident Evil 4, Virtua Quest, Double Dragon Advance, and about 70 old NES games.

Maybe you can get a job writing for EDGE.

Seriously, the last 4 months alone saw a shitton of great games come out, no matter what genres you're into. If you're bored under -these- conditions, maybe it's time to find another hobby.

Games aren't getting boring IMO. They just keep getting better and better. Shit, just got done with some more Resident Evil 4. GOTY baby. GOTY.

Things I keep in mind when I read topics like this:

1. There's also absolutely nothing 'wrong' with finding gaming to be boring, despite the general tone I get from a lot of these threads. Go find something else to do, as long as you're enjoying it.

2. Gaming is not something I have to do, or even something I'm obliged to. I can't count the number I've times I've forced myself to play something because I spent $50 on it.

3. Most of the games I've been playing lately aren't new. Some aren't even commercial. Regardless of the current state of the industry, there are probably hundreds of excellent old (or even recent) games that you haven't played.

4. And for the current state of the industry, I honestly think that anybody who thinks gaming isn't better than it's ever been is insane.
