Gay marriage salt thread

Can someone please rainbowfy my avatar?

Since it's a black and white image with a lot of darks it's hard to get all of the colors showing up clearly (you lose a lot of the purple and red, for example) so I took a couple different stabs at it; take yer pick.

Woah, thats like PR suicide
It got spun by the conservatives as a big freedom of speech type of thing, and they had lines around the building because it was believed they were being unjustly attacked for expressing views against marriage equality, even though they were actively donating to groups that fought against said equality. A few cities even balked at Chik-Fil-A opening locations because of their CEO's shitty views.

That said, their food is pretty good, and their employees are always super nice. I'd also wager most of their views don't align with their bigot CEO, so occasionally I'll indulge.

I was finding it funny at first. All that salt. Then i started to read what these religious bigots are saying.

I don't want to live in the same world as this people.

They are a dying breed. I find it amazing that we even have those crazy religious people in the west really.

Arnold is politically vacuous and was a non-entity as a governor. Someone who sought power for fame's sake and when he got it realized he had no idea what to do with it. He did nothing for 8 years, rarely even tried to do anything, and he has no policy stances of note on any issue ever. If he's in the presidential conversation it's because people are impressed by optics and people saying canned lines and the fact that the guy "acts" in 9-figure budget CG shitfests. "I'LL TERMINATE CONGRESS!!!!"

I'm not a Republican (or someone legally allowed to vote in the US)--but there are Republicans in the field who are manifestly unqualified regardless of their policy stances, and then there are Republicans who are basically qualified (but arguably wrong on the issues). Like, I don't think Scott Walker would make a good president, and I disagree with a lot of what he's done on Wisconsin. I wouldn't give him a high rating. But he's not someone whose mere presence in the conversation makes a mockery of the election process. Whereas a Donald Trump or Arnold is, imho.

I'll be honest, I don't know much about his tenure as a governer or his actual policies, besides that he ran from the republican nominee and was involved with that famous video games age restriction case in the supreme court if i am not mistaking. But your points make a lot of sense.

Worth every drop of sweat.

Without sounding too sappy, I really do appreciate the work the mods and admins do around here to keep this place a peaceful little island of tolerance in the middle of a big, noisy, hateful internet ocean. It's a testament to this community and its shepherds that when I wander over to Reddit or some other gaming site or something and see all the racist / sexist / homophobic / transphobic / etc. comments, it genuinely shocks me now instead of being "just how the internet is."

As someone who has basically grown up with gaming forums as a significant social outlet I don't think it's possible to understate how unique GAF really is.

+1000.

That's why this is the only gaming forum I regular visit since 2005.

Also, my respect for Ahnold just rose to the skies...

Went to have dinner with my mother and she started a conversation regarding gay marriage (We don't talk much unless it's about school):
Her: "Did you hear about the news on gay marriage?"
Me: "Yeah."
Her: "This country is terrible now.... ridiculous... terrible, terrible."
Me: I chuckle awkwardly because I didn't give enough fucks to get into an argument with her and just said, "Sooo.... what sounds good?"

Afterwards, I get home and take an hour long shower in an attempt to scrub off a lingering filth I felt just because we share the same DNA. Sigh. Someone being upset about gay marriage is equivalent to someone being pissed off at me for not ordering the same sandwich as them at Subway. "But alife, that's such a retarded analogy." Exactly. Retarded.

I can't believe I didn't know this is happening. I live literally 5 minutes from the Niagara Falls. Hopefully they keep it like this for a few days so I can go see it. Lol

That pic is from 2011, a lot of old pics are cropping up, only three I find that are legit are the Empire State Building (already has colored lights installed), World Trade Center (spire has lights installed), and of course the White House.

The River bridges in Arkansas are probably lit up like that since they have colored LEDs installed already but I haven't found any images from tonight, just old images from other PRIDE events.

Still it's pretty damn cool and if they have the colored LEDs installed it may look like that, I just can't find any proof that it happened tonight. Just saying in case you feel like resharing it.

I've pretty much cut my entire family off, and my life has been infinitely better for it.

They're all hardcore conservative and spout the Faux talking points verbatim. I've got better things to do with my life then deal with that BS.

Ah, well then. Lol. Thanks for the heads up. :P

The Chik-Fil-A near me hires gay employees and doesn't give a shit. I know the manager and he doesn't care one bit.

Sounds like my mother and step-father. They're also hypocrites. I'm Asian-American and everyone in the family on my mother's side are Buddhists, yet she goes around spewing vile words like that when no one is around other than her husband (Not a Buddhist though, just an asshole who thinks highly of himself) and me.

So far the salt I've seen has mainly been on my Facebook feed, some posts made me feel really sick to be honest, a lot of "I'm an American and a logician and dark days are coming from this."

I've noticed a lot of sites really crack down on hateful speech though, but I think the saving grace here is the email policy. That prevents a lot of the anonymous vile that pervades through other major gaming sites. As for civility here though, it really depends on the topics of discussions here.

People getting angry and salty over this should move to a different planet. This will only get worse for them.

The best part about this thread is how most of these hateful people are old white guys who will be dead in a few decades. The one great thing about being against discrimination is that time is on your side, especially now that Internet exists and connects everyone.

100% agreed. I know many will think we are exaggerating when it comes to appreciation for GAF, but having a community that cracks down on hate speech so uncomprimisingly makes this a completely different forum from any other, and the reason I spend so much of my free time here.

So, I don't follow politics at all. This all hit me very quickly from nowhere when I hopped on GAF just now and saw the logo.

Just spent the last half hour reading about what the hell happened instead of working like I should be doing.

What a beautiful fucking day. This is amazing. Hope more countries follow suit soon.
