I'm just pointing out that the two halves of this forum can be shockingly different when it comes to things like politics, which is easy to forget if you primarily stick to one side of the forum, as I do.
There are a lot more people like drt on this forum than most of us would think, but I think most of those hyper-conservative folk at least have the good sense to stick primarily to the gaming-side.

And no. The LGBT community deserves to have their moment of jubilation. For years people with hateful thoughts enshrined discriminatory laws on the books that targeted LGBT members sense of self-worth and dignity. Now, one of those pillars has collapsed. Literally, they have every reason to throw just a tiny fragment of the shit back toward these people for all the years of suffering and sadness they were put through.
If you don't like the atmosphere, there's other threads for you to brood in surely.

Not to mention it's those very same people who most likely kept voting for gay marriage bans and being general pricks to gays.
Bigots have been making life harder for others - for absolutely no logical reason - for thousands of years. They deserve everything they get now.

And it's easy to make assumptions like that if you never post over there. They're not that different at all. There will always be random hate and foolishness, but it's still a minority.

I think you're getting the gist of the thread wrong? There is no antagoniziation here. The salt is already put up on display. We're mocking it here after the fact.
As for the first part:
Some of my gay friends are in fact reveling in the outrage right now, but after all the stories I have been told of what they have been through, and from what I have seen be sent their way by others, I feel they deserve it. Honestly, the majority of my gay friends AREN'T doing any kind of schadenfreude. They are better people than I am, for certain. However, with bigoted nonsense like we are seeing being broadcast right now, public ridicule is actually a decent tool to stop it from spreading.
tl;dr: Let them have this.

It's definitely still a minority, but I do think it's a more sizable one than regular posters on the O-T side. I think far-right types simply don't post in O-T very often because of the rather strong liberal politics that permeate it, so they stick to gaming side where they're not confronted with political stuff as often. But when social/political issues do come up in gaming-side threads, it can get pretty gross.
Then again, O-T isn't perfect, either. The forum's overwhelming male membership causes issues here, too. People can be surprisingly sexist and I often think they don't even realize it.
Really not trying to be too negative here, but it's important to at least recognize some of the less desirable parts of this (overall great) forum.
It honestly still amazes me that people come in here saying stuff like "You are just as bad as the bigots! you horrible nasty people!"
Because laughing at the overblown reactions of idiots is totally the same as systematically and cruelly denying people their rights based on nonsense criteria like opinion and faith.
I'd like to see how their reaction would change if they were the ones growing up being call sick, wrong and unnatural.

Learnt something new (basic stuff) for PaintShopPro. Just use magic wand to make the selection the exact shape you want, change the layer you are focusing on, then promote selection to layer. And you get that shape out of whatever layer you want. YAY. (Took longer than it should have to figure that out).

I live in Lubbock, Texas. At one point I believe it had the most churches per capita as a city. I've been away for about a month and I go home later today.

Yeah one of the selfish benefits of this is that rainbows are cool again. The company I work for now updated their page full of rainbows. My old job? NOPE. Nothing. So glad I left.
Yes we're just as bad as people who actively campaigned against this and made the lives of LGBT people miserable.
