Gearbox: Nintendo has listened to Wii U feedback, controller specs will “be awesome”

A person who will defend a move by a particular company that is widely accepted as being poor
So having a diverging opinion is being a fanboy? I don't care for "widely accepted", that means nothing.

I'm wondering what they mean by "final specs"... I'd welcome multitouch, but not at the expense of capacitive instead of resistive. My dream would be IR-barrier touchscreen, but I know that will never happen ;)

So imagine if Wii U was powered by this thing...would Gaf explode?

Do people demanding multi touch not notice all the buttons next to the screen? Capacitive is not mandatory at all, especially for the experiences Nintendo has provided in the past. Drawing will be a big part of this system i think.

It might require some retooling if some the mobile developers plan to port over their games to the Wii U e shop, but even that wouldnt be a big issue because alot of those experience would probably benefit from buttons. God i hate virtual sticks.

What is your definition of a fanboy?

This is not a bad definition

Known for a complete lack of objectivity in relation to their preferred focus. Usually argue with circular logic that they refuse to acknowledge. Arguments or debates with such are usually futile. Every flaw is spun into semi-virtues and everything else, blown to comedic, complimentary proportions.
I would say that a fanboy is someone who refuses to see the positive aspects of a competing product and refuses to see the negative aspects of their preferred product. I think both have to be in effect. If they acknowledge that the competing product bests their preferred one in one or more aspects but they still choose their preferred one, that's not a fanboy in my eyes, that's just someone who weighs the importance of various features differently from the majority.

I'm just so baffled as to why so many people would prefer an imprecise multi-touch capacitive touch screen over a precise resistive touch screen. Multi-touch really wouldn't add much, anyway. While it would be nice for some touch screen only games, how many of those do you honestly expect? Most games are going to make use of the buttons and sticks. Plus, a capacitive touch screen would pretty much mean that there would be no good drawing apps.

Average people don't prefer capacitive because of multitouch, they prefer the nice, glassy low-friction magical feeling of using it. The clouded plastic that requires firm depression of the finger on the DS and 3DS is a joke in comparison to iOS devices.

That's hardly true at all. I use my finger with the 3DS all the time, requires the same amount of force as my phone and Kindle Fire.

Multitouch capacitive is not very imprecise at all. It's quite precise, actually.

Multi-touch really wouldn't add much, anyway.
It adds two player simultaneous potential, while the resistive screen has none. Plus it brings about a host of shortcut use, which is kinda important for most games.

While it would be nice for some touch screen only games, how many of those do you honestly expect?

I expect a console centered around the entire idea of a touch screen/tablet to have some pretty intensive touch screen based games.

Most games are going to make use of the buttons and sticks.

To manipulate the action on the TV screen, sure. It doesn't help at all with the touch screen. How many DS games use the buttons/dpad for the bottom touch screen? (somewhat honest question, as I don't know, but I bet it's not many).

Plus, a capacitive touch screen would pretty much mean that there would be no good drawing apps.

Then get a tablet for your computer. Don't turn what could potentially be a really great idea- touch screen based gaming with a TV- into a drawing tablet for kids. That's the very bottom of the barrel of ideas that the Wii U could bring to life.

I don't want to draw wisps of Link's hair down to the last precise pixel. I want to have new gameplay experiences.

GUYS

stop responding to the touch screen debate! You know how it will end. With some people (And we know from wich side of the lake) being banned. The guys i´m talking too will know that i mean them...

I am not visiting this thread anymore becaue like everything that might be good news to the Wii U will be turned to shit on Neogaf! Uhh why am i not surprised?

Controller specs?!

I really hope that Nintendo answer all questions about the WiiU at their E3 press conference.

I really do.

Is this what most Nintendo fans want? I don't get that impression.
Depends which Nintendo fans you ask. The one that are more reasonable about Nintendo's business, probably not. The ones that want them to make a system competitive to PC specs, those went away years ago.

Thats definitely fair. Thanks for adding your thoughts.

I bet he is talking about how the controller switched to clickable analog sticks, from the analog circle pads, you guys.

And nintendo will act like we didn't know this in the nintendo direct event in a couple of hours.

So the mods are against Nintendo too? This conspiracy is starting to get ridiculous.
