And yes Horde is still really good for earning XP, as long as you have some friends not running around and get the waves completed, every wave on insane nets you around 6000XP, that is a lot!
Social doesn't include the matchmaking and when I used to try playing solo, it could sometimes take forever to find matches. With what seems to be more games in social (because of the bots), I also tend to get better connections to people.
EDIT: and I didn't mean to imply that Horde wasn't a good way to level up, it's still much faster than playing the competitive modes without an XP boost. I just find Horde to be really boring and unless I'm trying to get through podcasts or listen to some music, it's like grinding in an RPG for me.
