How do you know they're using a turbo controller? Some people just have a ridiculously fast trigger finger.

I've played enough of Gears that I can usually tell when it's skill vs a modded controller. They rapid fire every weapon and the rate of fire never dips. Never. It's not like it's just a hammerburst that some people are really good with.

Check out 5:10 on this clip and that's what I've seen lately.

I'm not questioning that some people can indeed be using rapid fire controllers, but I just want to point out that I think the snub pistol can be fired faster than the Hammerburst... At least I do, I usually am more deadly with it lol.

I started playing more Execution lately and my anger level has begun to subside, which is interesting since I couldn't stand Execution when I first got the game.

Yes it sucks that it is capped to best-of-five but the SOS seems infinitely more manageable since I don't have to worry about being blindsided by 2 or 3 SOS scrubs who are awarded the wonderful advantage of spawning on my flank because they "skillfully" kamikaze their way through the map all match.

Only having to track 5 enemies and their movements and not having to worry about random bullshit spawns infinitely increases the strategy and tactical aspects of the game.

And, shockingly, I get thrown in a server every single time, unlike TDM which for me always seems to be a toss up.

This thread shows that the SOS is doing it's job, keeping the gnasher rushers at bay. The game would be another shottyfest if it wasn't for the SOS.

That's true and I agree with you, but sometimes it's pretty obvious that they are using a rapid fire and it just sucks.

I'm not a gnasher rusher at all. In fact, I really didn't like Gears 1 or 2 because it was so gnasher-heavy. I'm glad the Lancer is good in this game (although I wish it did a bit more damage). But Lancer or Gnasher or whatever, the SOS just sucks period. When people spaz around or just wait at a corner with a sawed off I just sigh. And when they miss their shot and start flipping and rolling around like a mad man so I can't even hit them I sigh more. It just hurts the game. Either remove it all together, or super nerf it and make it so you can't evade or roadie run while reloading or something.

Yup, it's doing the job of making people who suck actually be able to get kills.

I agree but in the process it has made the gnasher sort of obsolete. The SOS should be an alternative in a shotty battle not a deciding factor. I think the range and spread at hip fire should be cut but keep it the same when zoomed in. That way you can counter the huge spread with a lower field of view/movement speed. A narrower hip fire should hopefully help the corner camping too. Either way, right now I am enjoying holding back a little with the retro and picking people off as they charge me.

I really hope they tear him a part about it. It wouldn't be too bad if it wasn't for that ridiculous spread and even sometimes the range (though still really short) seems more than what it should be at times.

Uh no, it's a one hit kill weapon with a ridiculous amount of spread. It forces people really to not actually worry where they are aiming, they pretty much just have to be on your screen within range and you have a kill. Which is completely different than any other gun in the game and a task that does not require skill compared to actually making sure a player is within your cross-hair.

I clicked on the discuss hashtag..... And about 19/20 people said they loved the sos.... This is not good.

It's pretty obvious when someone is using it. There are plenty of counters to it.

Yup, especially when you run across a kid with SoS in his name and his tag is SOS specialist or whatever and find out the only gun he is using is the SoS. /shock

and still manage to rack up more kills than him and beat him in King of the Hill

I've lost every game tonight in TDM. I have the most sour feeling in my body I've felt in a long time. I need to step my Gnasher game up, I'll be a foot away from a guy with an active and nothing.

And because of it this game has more kills by rifle fire than Gears mp has ever had.

The SoS has a clear weakness (1 shot) and it absolutely can be countered. If it didnt exist then you would have fucking gnashers in your face (just like the SOS) except they would have 8 shots instead of 1. They also wouldn't scurry away like pussies if they were taking fire. SOS users remind me of tickers.

See the thing is rifles are already strong in this game without the SOS. This so called "weakness" of the SOS doesn't matter until they shoot, and if someone is any kind of competent they won't shoot until they can kill you. Even if they miss they have a good shot of running away if they are camping the right corners like they inevitably will be. I would much rather have a gnasher in my face that i could just gnasher in return and outskill them. Have you seen SOS vs SOS? Because it's silly.

SOS moaning is reaching sensational levels. I just had an absolutely beastly night of Gears, I raised my KD ratio in quick matches from 1.3 (cos I was playing with work friends who are just learning the game) to 2.0 and I think I died more times trying to use the SOS than I did from people catching me out with it.

I find it to be really unreliable, really risky to use, I've missed what I thought were certain kills more than I have any other weapon. I never feel confident of winning any encounter while I'm holding it and I almost never feel like its the weapon that will swing a match my team's direction. Hence it cannot be overpowered.

I had games tonight where I posted crazy numbers like 30-2 and 14-1, mostly with the lancer. The game is fine! :D

If you play quick matches and you use the SOS I have no problem with you. My problem is with the teams of SOS users in ranked match who are actually good with it.
