Gears of War 4 NVIDIA Error Promo Keys From Amazon Mass Revoked

Physical copies aren't eligible for Play Anywhere though.

As I said, Play Anywhere is digital only - you are being misinformed/duped.

It's not a misinterpretation, that's what they said. I was under the impression you meant the code being boxed with the actual game, not having their own shelf - it kinda defies logic for them to individually sell a code AND a boxed copy of the game inside a physical store.

You are very much misinformed.

Physical = Disc
Digital = Purchased directly via Xbox.com or via a code from a retailer

All digital copies are Play Anywhere, no matter which store you sourced the code from (Microsoft, Amazon, GameStop, Best Buy, etc.). This also includes the 5x5 codes (for both Standard and Ultimate) that are bundled inside new GoW 4 Xbox One systems.

This is all Amazon. They fucked up and Nvidia did what they needed to do. I'm not quite sure why everyone's acting like this - just return the card and buy a new card from a seller that isn't incompetent. The 1070 FTW for example from Newegg still has the GoW4 offer and they're a competent seller and you'll get a code that isn't getting revoked.
Nvidia could just as easily fetch me a code, I have my proof of purchase and everything. But they didn't even though they're well aware of this fuck up.

As far as Amazon I bought from them because it was the first place to offer the promotion that I saw and I already had gift card credit. Normally amazon is okay but this fiasco has really soured me on them.

Based eBay. I hope everyone is able to get a full refund. I paid $52.56 CAD. I'd be upset if I didn't get my money back.

Who names his ebay account in honor of one of the greatest frauds of all time, though?
.. and, who buys anything from said account?

.. don't mind me.

Why dont you guys just return the card and buy it somewhere else?

Amazon has cheapest shipping to Australia.

If I return and purchase from B&H or newegg the shipping will be about $20 USD more. Then factor in my time organising a refund, posting the card and waiting for the new card it doesn't really seem worth it.

I'm in the same boat, seriously fuck Nvidia and fuck amazon for being scum trying to prevent legitimate buyers from getting their codes.

You'll need to call Amazon support over the phone and get transferred like 3 times until they finally get you a ticket for Promotions, at which point you'll need to wait to be contacted via email or something as they have no phone line I guess.

I'm on the last step myself and this week has been bullshit. They're gonna deposit $60 into my account once I speak to them.

There could be hundreds of people who purchased cards thinking they were getting GOW4 :(

I would be shocked if they actually refund you $60 as they are being very tricky about it all with me...basically pretending the promotion never existed.

eBay granted me a refund.

I did originally insert a picture of the code being invalid on Xbox One. I wonder if that worked in my favor? I am also a seller with over 400 feedback and been a member since 1999, so I wonder if that had any effect on the decision.

Newegg actually does a very smart thing with these promos. They seperately charge you $60 for the game in a separate order and then take $60 off the price of the card in the original order. That way canceling the order/returning the card while using the code means you pay $60 for use of the code - solves the problem quite elegantly. It's a little shocking how much of amateur hour Amazon is on this. Will avoid Amazon going forward on promos like this.

Got my ebay refund too, had to mail something back (on ebay's dime) to the seller even though it was a digital code, I just mailed back a printout of the code and revoked status, seems kind of automated on eBay's part as soon after the tracking number showed delivered ebay gave the full refund.

Got the physical edition, had it on pre order from best buy and I'll probably trade it in and buy digital if it goes on sale/etc. Starting today as well you can buy an xbox one with a pack-in gears of war 4 digital game, that will be a regular xbox.com code (not nvidia) and based on previous package deals we should see a lot of them for sale soon and the price decrease every week.

So I just bought a code from a Gaffer and redeemed it. It redeemed, but I am getting the error code from Gears associated with the revoked license. He's provided me with the info I need, and it's not from Amazon and a relatively recent purchase. Do I need to contact Microsoft or something? I ask this because I was sold a dud code previously (Got a refund) and I feel like it's just permanently affected my ability to redeem the game now or something.

No it doesn't, because this isn't a new type of packaging at all, for Microsoft or anyone else. As I also directly alluded to, you were unaware of the SKU to begin with. Being unaware of the SKU, your interpretation was incorrect, that is called a misinterpretation. I specifically pointed out Xbox Live and prepaid codes because they took up the same form and distribution in the form of cards sold at retail.

Try this: http://account.microsoft.com/ -> Security & privacy -> Apps & services -> Manage permissions and then remove Nvidia from your account. Try redeeming your new code again (you'll need to enter another e-mail address for the last step, this won't affect which gamertag it's linked to though)

My seller didn't respond. So I opened a claim. They wanted me to mail them back it for the refund. Politely called eBay and told them I had nothing to mail since it was a code, they refunded my money along with the person saying that they had heard this happen before with these codes. Thank you Based eBay.

I sold my code that I got from amazon.fr, which was a legit code from a card I bought and ofc still own, and according to the user I sold it to it activated but then got revoked, he went back and forth microsoft was of no use apparently, and nvidia told to contact amazon, ended up refunding him his tf2 keys + 2 for the trouble, fortunately after that I insisted with amazon.fr and I got a refund on the full amount of the game in their store (69,99€).

While I can't say for certain if the code was truly revoked or not, I have no reason to distrust the buyer so it is likely that amazon.fr and amazon.it, which are the only European amazons doing the promotion, are likely using amazon.com code, so beware.

Crap I shouldn't have done this. It just says Invalid Code because it's already been redeemed by me. Now Nvidia who I contacted and provided all the info to won't be able reauthorize my key potentially because I removed their permission from my account. Is there a way to add them back?

I'm not sure tbh, I bought a code from a GAFfer which was revoked so I bought another code from Ebay. My new code wouldn't redeem until I carried out the instructions I posted earlier though. After I did that the new code redeemed fine and I have the game working now.

This whole situation is just stupid. I Called Microsoft, in the end after a period of time where nothing was getting done told me they're just having problems with servers and they will update me whenever it's fixed. Basically they have no idea why or don't care and wanted me to go away. Then Nvidia gives me a new code, when I try to redeem it, it says you've already redeemed this promotion XD

I could just redeem through a different account I guess, but I want it associated with my current Xbox Live Account.

Oh the lady also told me the reason it doesn't work is because it's for a pre-order, and the game is out, so that's why I can't play the game because the codes aren't good anymore. -_-

What were the first four letters of your code? Amazon.com codes start by GWNA, yours should have hade GWEU and therefore not affected by this.

Has anyone redeemed a code, downloaded the game, been able to play (maybe even finish single player campaign) and then had the license revoked?

Did this happen to you? Or are you just asking out of curiosity?

I would gladly test that for you. ;)

No I will test that for you. I'll test it better.

I'm pretty sure it has my buddies name on it, but if not, it's getting sold. Sorry boyos ;)

It starts with GWEU, he told me that he was able to activate it, then got an error code (apparently a typical error code in the microsoft store regarding downloading games), and then when he tried to download again it showed that he needed to buy the game, I OFC have no real way of knowing what did or didn't happen, but either way just letting people know that its a possibility.

In the end it was a net positive for me, since I far prefer to receive the 69,99€ even if I ended up giving the guy 2 extra keys back (and he may or may not be a scammer, no way of knowing), than the 19 TF2 keys I had sold my copy for.

oh right, i misunderstood you... I thought you said that only amazon codes are GWNA... sorry

Nah, I meant that if the code he got came from Amazon France started with GWNA, that would mean that the code likely came from the NA branch of Amazon and so it might have been affected by the revoke. If it started with GWEU, he just got scammed by the person he sold it too, who took advantage of him because of the revoking situation.

wow that sucks, i bought one from them too but was able to get the refund by calling ebay.

Yeah, I did a phone call to ebay too but the attendant said me that ebay won't gives refund for digital content and that I needed to open a claim directly with paypal :/

Is luck-based on the attendant that takes your call, I guess

I've been scammed by wolfdawg2011 (eBay) too. I've just put a claim on PayPal against him.

I wont let this guy going away with it.

Just a heads up from the guys who bought from Reddit (Nguyen) through the storefront that was setup I was able to get a refund from PayPal after escalating it.

Well, this is a turn up for the books. I bought a 1070 from Amazon UK after the free game was removed from the Amazon site and Amazon removed from the Nvidia site (bought Sep 30th), so I knew I wasn't getting it and so didn't chase it with Amazon or Nvidia at all.

However today I've received a code by email from Amazon, successfully re-deemed from Nvidia and now Gears 4 is downloading. Result!

I've nearly pressed go on buying it myself a few times over the last couple of weeks, so posting this here in case anyone is in the same boat. It might be worth holding fire or contacting Amazon if you haven't got a code already.

Looks like Amazon have been working behind the scenes to fix this, well, Amazon UK at least.

I've got a quick question:

- I'm about to buy a GTX 1080 on Newegg.

- I bought a Gears code on eBay during the craze, and it obviously got revoked (I got a refund so it's all good).

My question is; will this new code that I receive from Newegg work, despite it being the same Microsoft account and email address that the first code got revoked on?
