Gears of War Marcus Fenix Collection coming to Xbox One? Phil Spencer retweets

Don't you dare fuck with my emotions.

Oh, all Gears 2 talk should be bannable unless you're talking about how much of a step backwards it was. To be safe, we should just pretend it never happened.

Yes. Just like Halo 1/2 aren't on Steam either.
Microsoft is not interested in publishing those games on PC because they're linked to the Xbox brand.

They've put stuff like Rise of Nations because it won't hurt the Xbox One in any way.

I'm not expecting (at all) 1st party stuff to end up on PC, Gears IP, Halo IP will remain Xbox One exclusive. Same goes for Quantum Break (IP owned by MS).

At least, this is what I think.

They are already on PC....

I just want them on an environmental that is not dead and can actually foster a community.

Sorry but 2's multiplayer was great after they fixed the kinks present at launch. It set up the template for the exceptional 3 so it's A-OK in my book.

I've never liked the campaigns in any of them, if that's what you are talking about.

Day Zero. Gears 1 on Xbone with a community? Oh lawd. Keep all the glitches too. Let's crab walk and kung fu flip till our eyes pop out of our head.

Meet me on Subway. Muahahahahah!

PXG knows the truth. He and I were on the same page for all Gears 2 jibba jabba going into three.

Gears 2 is a sin against ALL man kind. All of it...

Why people are so butthurt about Gears of War 2? Yes the last boss fight was underwhelming and they made the characters more heavy and move slower. Besides that, why the hate?

The diversity of locations we visited were amazing and the scale of the battles were damn amazing.

The fuck am I reading?

TU6 brought the game to where it should have been when it released. I do give Epic credit for supporting the game as long as they did and going above and beyond to fix it. But come on, it was still shit and the amount of issues it had was simply unacceptable.

Edit

It's REALLY easy to tell who plays Gears and who doesn't. If you don't hate Gears 2 and Judgement, there's something wrong right off the bat. There are actually only two games. Gears 1 and 3. These other two simply don't exist. They are figments of the imagination.

Okay, it took a long ass time for 2 to be somewhat decent, but by then it was no where near Judgement level of bad. I wouldn't ever want to play it again after playing 3 for so much, but I think Epic really learned from their mistakes in 2.

Don't get me wrong. i really enjoyed gears 2, like the gameplay style, but really hated the host connections. Just imagine if gears collection came out, gears 2 with dedicated servers ohhhh man!!!!! D:

Gears 2 MP was shit & by the time it got acceptable no one cared anymore or they moved back to Gears of War MP. At least Gears of War 3 had solid MP right from the start. How and why the ruined it again with Judgment is beyond me.

I bought the fucking season pass too, thinking there was no way PCF could do no wrong...Welp....

Oh god I did that, too. The singleplayer was fun, played it a couple of times. I tried to get into the MP but it just didn't work. I didn't even try the last DLC, I was already done with the game by that point

There was definitely one element of Gears 2 that was well above Gears 3....gibs. In Gears 3 it was like everyone had dynamite in their bodies and just exploded everywhere. Gears 2 did it right with bodies and bits littering the floor that you could kick around and such. Maybe I have a problem...

So, the Xbox press site uploaded a bunch of assets under the label "Gears of War Franchise" yesterday.

Shrug.

As someone who played Gears 2 & 3 from launch until there was pretty much nobody else playing the multiplayer, fuck yes! Might even get me to buy an Xbox again, as Gears 3 was the only game keeping me from selling my 360 for a PS3 for a year or so!

Gears 3 was great. They just need to combine Gears 3's refinements with Gears 1's atmosphere and simplicity and BAM. Perfect game.

Bad net code was only one of many issues. I remembee firing your Gnasher from the hip would cause the bullets to go straight down. And lets not even talk about the smoke rag dolling...ugh

This guy.

Come on, dude.

No seriously. Do it. See what happens.

I hope this turns out to be true. I was strictly a PC gamer from 1999-2013, with the occasional console experience at a friends house. I'm already licking my lips about experiencing the Halo:MCC in a couple weeks, give me this and I'll explode with joy.

How and why the ruined it again with Judgment is beyond me.

As someone who has put several hundred hours in to each title (minus Judgment) I have to give Epic credit; Judgment was a bold experiment. The removal of the active damage boost made CQC much more consistent, movement speed felt great, the shooting system (ripped from the original) worked a treat and the removal of stopping power gave the game a frenetic pace.

Unfortunately other changes such as the removal of the locust, the new load out system and lack of symmetrical maps, to name a few, ripped the heart out of it for long time Gears of War fans. It was an interesting attempt to take the series in a different direction but despite perhaps the strongest mechanics in the series it felt nothing like Gears of War in the end.

But in an era where developers are afraid to change the winning formula too much you have to give Epic credit for trying.

Overall. Gears of War was excellent, but the movement does feel clunky and dated now. Gears of War 2 had a lot of great ideas, but released in an awful state (it easily has the best campaign though), while Gears of War 3 is the strongest by some distance. The retro could be abused and perhaps some could argue kill-times were too quick (complaints I understand but do little to ruin my enjoyment) but it felt buttery smooth to play.

The real enemy? Matchmaking. Too many playlists killed Gears of War 3 in the end.

I personally like Gear of War, but not a HUGE fan like some are, but I do have a question for the people.

What would be better, a Gears of War 1 Anniversary done in UE4 or some other next-gen engine?

or

Gears of War Collection with just the same Gears of War games but 1080p@60FPS?

I personally don't even know which one would be better, both sound great.

A Gears of War collection is definitely happening ! I can smell it !

The question now is what's gonna be in the collection ? hope for all campaigns and multiplayer maps to be remastered in 1080p 60fps. It would be just sick !

I still liked Judgement, multiplayer wasn't too hot but i liked the graphics and movement better.

Anyway, day fucking one !!!

I had the intuition that it wasn't going to be a good game. I didn't even buy it.. and you know how much I play.

I was willing to give it a shot. Sure, we knew about the changes but they were so drastic. Oh god...the two piecing...memories are flooding back.

I love how the two piece is nearly impossible in Gears 3.

There's truth in this hyperbole.

Gears 1 and 3 are clearly the better games in the series, but I enjoyed Horde mode immensely, moreso than 2.0. And you spent, what, hundreds if not thousands of hours playing the Gears series? Once you've dug into a game that deep, it's easy for you to find things that a novice won't ever struggle with.

Casuals can play all four game's SP and nitpick about little things here and there. Hell I still like Gears 1 SP more than any of the others, though 3 had better co-op by far. When it comes to MP, Gears 3 was close to perfection, but Gears 1 MP sans bugs and host advantage was all I ever really wanted. It was nice when Gears 3 had events that tried to replicate that experience.

So people are saying Gears of War 2, the entire game, is bad, because of the multiplayer issues alone?

NeoGAF.gif

Damn straight. MP is what keeps people coming back and playing for months and years right?

The campaign was not so hot either. It lost focus on what made Gears 1 special and memorable. All the emotion, darkness and gloomy horror elements were thrown out for anything that was Bigger, Better and more Badass™. It was a departure from what made Gears' identity.

Gears of War 3 multiplayer is perfect. I know you rather the asthetics of Gears 1 but as far as the gameplay and character movement, it's perfect.

Just get rid of the Retro lancer.

See. You get it. You understand. Spot on 100% truth right here.

Chill out people. Looks like he just retweeted a fan. People see everything as game announcements these days. "Oh my god a company is hiring a person, Half Life 3 confirmed".
